ED I think you and few on here are a bit hard on young Mikey O Halloran. is it because him being linked with sevco. god sake cut the Bhoy a bit of slack. and why do you keep saying he ain't good enough for Celtic. oh I forgot our team is full of world renowned player's. Mikey could give a few of them a run for there money, and for sure that's what Mikeys got pace.

Timbhoy

{Ed007's Note - James Forrest has pace and is 10 times the player O'Halloran is - and Forrest's garbage.}

He's not young Timbhoy - he'd be in the older half of our squad.

As for his ability, I actually like him as a player (in an SPFL context) but if not for the Rangers interest, RD and PL would be slaughtered for a signing like him. Why not Steven McClean/ Greig Spence/ Kane Hemmings/ Kris Doolan? In a SPFL context they are all "good" players - and some would argue the four mentioned are better than O'Halloran - but they wouldn't get near the Celtic side.

There are players who will improve when they are signed by a bigger club like Celtic. There are also players who won't and coming to Celtic Park leads to a sudden lost of form as they just cannot handle signing for a big club, the higher expectations and living in the public eye all the time . Working out whether a player will improve after joining Celtic is certainly one of the most difficult parts of the recruiting game that a Celtic Manager has .
We have always had a group of players who didn't handle the move to Celtic and it's always been difficult to move them on .
Robson and Hartley did exceptionally well for us . Others like Flood seemed over-whelmed the whole time he was with us .

Old Bhoy I'd argue that we don't need to be signing players who might come in and hopefully improve and get up to speed with the rest of the squad. What we need is 2 or 3 players who are a level above what we have, who have experience and will spur on the current squad to improve.

Don't understand what you mean Kevbhoy, those kinda guys cost a fortune, and are a level above and know they can sit back and do shit all and still get paid more than the hard working level below players, what we need to find is those kind of younger players without the experience but with the skill and potential to develop into top notch professionals, and maybe with the right kind of coaching and tutoring and education, they can develop into top notch human beings as well.

5.) 30 Jan 2016 08:43:13
Not really aindoh. Sometimes wee find a player a level above that makes the rest better, it's more about them having a good attitude. Henrik, lubo, mcstay too many to mention them all.

Christ, the ice cream van has been around a few houses I see.

We need some experiance Players playing alongside the "potential". That's how they improve not in training but on games where the better more experienced players bring them on. We have too many players with "potential" need some experiance.

No more loans, we celtic need to buy a couple of young Scottish talent. The 2 I like are Spittal, of Dundee Utd and Mikey Ohalloran up at St Johnstone. i'm sure Celtic will sign Mikey. at the end of the week, I'm sure he is not interested in signing for Sevco.

Timbhoy

{Ed007's Note - O'Halloran's nowhere near the quality we should be looking at. He's no better than players we should be getting rid of, in fact he's worse, there is not one single player in our first team squad he's better than and if our youngsters aren't better we'd be better just shutting the academy.
The only plus point in CFC signing O'Halloran is that the Zombies would be raging.}

1.) 26 Jan 2016 18:30:41
That's what worries me Ed our ambition becomes to sign anyone/ everyone that marginally improves Sevco :-s

Agreed O'Halloran not good enough we already gave him away would only stifle young Nesbitt IMO

Surely we are not going to start moving for anyone to eclipse Sevco?

2.) 26 Jan 2016 18:40:00
Upsetting the zombies is not a good enough reason. I think it's all getting stupid now. We are only buying players that we feel we can make a profit by selling them on. There is no strategy to build a team. It's a squad full of inexperienced but promising youngsters who the board want to sell as soon as someone makes an offer. We are buying players who won't even get in the side. Look at the carton Cole deal. Another stupid signing. It's just going to pot.

3.) 26 Jan 2016 19:33:00
I hope any signings we do make are done to actually improve us. For too long now we just seem to bring in mediocre players in the vain hope that one of them will earn a lot of money for the club.
According to what some posters have been saying, O'Halloran is a Celtic fan, he is supposed to have family members who are either season ticket holders, or work at Celtic park.
If this is true, then how could he even think of joining sevco. If I had ever been good enough to play football at professional level, they are the one club in world football that I just wouldn't play for regardless of what money was being offered, my family past and present would disown me.
If O'Halloran bides his time, other clubs will come in for him, and he'll probably earn as much as he would get at sevco.
