Few rumours about McGeady on his way back to Celtic. As an Everton fan here on a recommendation from Mr Bond I wanted to get Celtic fans' thoughts on him. I don't think I've ever seen anyone give the ball away so much, he is fast-ish but instead of beating his man (sounds bad I know) and crossing it he beats his man and then tries to do it again. His crossing is beyond awful, at Leon Osmans testimonial he hit about 4 corners into the side netting. He must love those deep fried Mars bars too because he is badly overweight. He has jiggling moobs and a beer belly. I think we paid (in more ways than one) 0.5m for him, that's a ripoff and Spartak Moscow should be proud. I would not wish him on my worst enemy but I'm really desperate for him to leave. He has had, maybe, 2 half decent games, Lille at home in the Europa League and no, 1 half decent game. In 18 months. One more thing, he does this really irritating skill were he rolls his foot over the ball, does a stepover and kicks it into space, he does it, I'd say, at least 5 or 6 times a game. Did he do it a lot at Celtic?. Just wanted to get your thoughts on him and whether there is anyone out there that actually wants him (oh you poor soul). Thanks.

I'd love him back. He may have struggled at Everton but that doesn't make you a bad player, lots of good players have bad spells at clubs - Chris Sutton had a shocker at Chelsea but ended up being great for us. The reason I want him is because he has that something special that I we lack. He has the ability to rip teams to shreads on his day, the 3-2 defeat to Barca at Paradise being a prime example. And yes GMS is a good prospect but he is untested at the highest level and has been in and out of the team since he joined anyway. Celtic are McGeady's club and that's why I think it would be a great match like it was in his spell here

McGeady's a decent player but I don't think he's a priority (although Ronny liked a winger)

I wasn't impressed with him at Celtic Park v Scotland and he wasn't a stand out when we played Spartak in the Champions League a few seasons ago.

Add to this his huffy ness and is it not the case he fell out with Strachan? Our squad are settled with a good relationship

If we sign him, fair enough but I'm not bothered either way.

LM67 I have to disagree, I don't think McGeady would improve our squad. I do, however, reckon GMS will flourish at the highest level if given the chance. He was our best player in the San Siro last season until Virgil got sent off and he got subbed. He's younger, hungrier, more skillful and has a better end product than McGeady.

The bhoy is the best talent to come our system in the last 15 years at least. I see no harm in bringing him back as long we don't break the bank to sign him. I do feel we need another winger as Forrest and GMS are both injury prone so another out and out winger is a must

Think you called it Swan. Pretty much to a T.

We probably had the best out of him actually, in the SPL of course, even then he flattered to decieve and had a terrible final product. Which is why he'd never get a game over say Mirallas. Went to Spartak for 'big' money and probably just about maintained his level. You'll know yourself he hasn't done hee-haw at Everton. His career hasn't really gone anywhere.

I personally don't want him back. And that's from somebody who thinks we could really do with another wing forward. Because Celtic on the otherhand, have progressed. We brought through Forrest who I said, and maintain is more effective. And now we have Mackay-Steven who I would have ahead of Forrest all day long. GMS would do a job for you btw! From what I see your lot are more about the hold up from Lukaku now, either playing it on to Naismith or Kone, or to hold it up for those coming up from deeper, Barklay, Mirallas etc. You need midfielders who are going to find Lukaku's napper or do something with it when it's played into them, i.e, score. You don't need McGeady. Neither do we.

I'm actually surprised our camp is actually so split on McGeady. Some people just mustn't recognise what the players are being asked to do now. And that McGeady would not be able to do it.

He could be a but inconsistent but he needs to be reborn as a player. We got £9m fir him. There hasn't even been one bid fir Forrest which dies bit surprise me one.

He has always been lazy and his attitude stinks RD is big on youth what kind of example would his attitude set for the youngsters. He's had his time at Celtic and left for so called bigger and better things.

8.) 03 Jul 2015 10:07:30
totally disagree, the wee guy was a first team pick for 6 years and won Player of the year and young player of the year awards. lazy players don't win these accolades or if they do they must have fantastic ability. not sure either if we can say Celtic have progressed since his first spell when we were easily qualifying for champions league etc. if we can get him for a low transfer fee then I would go for it. its ok saying Ronni prefers young players but if McGeady comes back it will be because the manager wants him. wee Lubo wasn't young when we signed him and he was fantastic. not putting Aiden in the same category but just pointing out that a bit of experience can bring something to the team. ok Everton fans don't like him but who do they like, Lukaku gets pelters from them

9.) 03 Jul 2015 10:49:22
Just to clarify something eddykane. I love Lukaku, McGeady cannot be compared to him in any way, shape or form. Lukaku gets pelters for sometimes being lazy and having the touch of a submarine but he still scores goals and the majority of Everton fans love him. McGeady on the other hand, well, I'd say about 95% of Everton fans would pay for him to go.

10.) 03 Jul 2015 11:14:16
I agree with Jim and the original Everton post, he was a bag of tricks with very little end product. It's always exciting to see someone tear a defender a new ars: I just wish he produced more. If he comes back and Forrest goes i'd be a happy man. At least aiden got you off your feet before hitting the first defender with a cross.

11.) 03 Jul 2015 12:33:31
Swan. I happen to agree with you about Lukaku, think he is a cracking player but as you say he gets pelters for been lazy which you say McGeady is as well, I don't think any of the 2 of them are, think Lazy players are a thing of the past the way the game is played now. 95% of Everton fans might not like McGeady as he hasn't really produced for you but that doesn't make him a bad player, maybe style / manager did not suit him, he has been excellent for Celtic/Spartak and Republic and i'm sure he can reproduce that again. I know a few Everton fans through work and although they will be happy enough for him to go they do wish it had worked out better for him and that the manager had given him more game time as they thought he showed some flashes of brilliance. anyway genuinely good luck next season

And to you mate.

13.) 03 Jul 2015 13:22:18
Mcgeady is done simple as that. There is no room in our squad for a has been.

14.) 03 Jul 2015 13:36:30
It's certainly split a lot of fans but in my opinion I wouldn't be for it. I think a lot of the people tht want him seem to think we are getting a player of the same level he had when he left (which even at tht time I still didn't rate him as highly as others). If we sign him we are signing a player who has (IMO) declined as a player from when he left and I think his aquisition would be nothing but a hinderence to the lads we already have there.
