Anyone hear the story fae McAvennie about the players training.

Seems Lennon shouted at a certain player and the player responded by moaning that Rodgers never shouted at them.

Sign of players not buying it to Lennons methods?

Players are too easy to offend these days. Whoever the player was needs to realise that Rodgers is gone and whatever manager takes the reigns next season will have different methods from the previous managers.

I don’t think just because a certain player spoke back to Lenny that the squad aren’t buying into him and his ideas.

Lennon should be respected and players should knuckle down and train hard.

The wee soul prob on about 15k a week or more and the coach shouted at him lucky he's no play ing in the juniors or the amateurs.

{Ed007's Note - McAvennie has 'forgot' to mention that Lennon was actually screaming, cursing and swearing in a young player's face hence the "Brendan never shouted at us like that" statement which McAvennie has shortened to suit and plenty of the older players who felt Lennon was out of order made that known - and not just to Lennon.
The situation could easily have escalated to a similar position that cost Lennon the Hibs job if 2 senior players hadn't spoken to the youngsters dad and stopped him getting their agent and Peter Lawwell involved.
It's 2018 and even poor wee souls on £15k a week are protected by the law at work.}

Ed I've no idea what was said and prob not does anyone else so I am replying to the post which states a certain player no ages were mentioned if it's true it was a kid fair enough point taken.

{Ed007's Note - It doesn't matter what age the player is, you simply can't go around screaming obscenities into anyone's face in the workplace. It's not the first time this season that Lennon's treatment of players and his attitude towards them has been called into question.}

Guys that type of management has died out in the game and managers that do it are either retiring of can't get decent jobs anymore.

You've got to be able to manage a players and treat them like adults now a days.

If a player is moaning that Rodgers never shouted at them I think it's a sure sign they ain't happy with how it's going.
Because if one player willing to come out with that then there has been talking among the players.

Fair point although a rollicking now and again doesn't do any harm they're a spoilt and protected species. god knows how fergie or Keane would handle this environment these days.

{Ed007's Note - It's hard to believe but I've heard that Keane isn't really one for bawling and shouting at his players as he thinks that's something the captain & senior players should do.}

That is practically 'bullying' in the workplace and when done publicly it causes too many negative emotions and reactions.
Not ideal preparation for a Cup Final and not a good way to apply for a much-wanted managerial position?

Players for big clubs need to be mentally strong and capable of dealing with intense criticism from the manager to the fans.

Soft fans nowadays with their "new age football" methods about what is right or wrong is mental.

You people would have the audacity to tell Alex Ferguson his method are wrong lol. What a joke.

{Ed001's Note - Alex Ferguson would tell you that he had to change his methods and never used the 'hairdryer' on young players and used it less and less as time went on. Perhaps you should actually do some research on modern times and get yourself out of the 1950s.}

He picked his targets. He decided what guys to shout at and what guys to be softer with

Often he would shout at players he knew he could handle it, even if they done nothing wrong as an indirect criticism of other players without having to single them out.

I've researched his methods well and listened to players talk about his methods also.

He was still shouting when his team deserved it.

{Ed001's Note - you might want to tell him that, only he says differently and I would believe him over any 'research' you have done.}

This is information from Ferguson himself and guys like Neville, Ferdinand etc who played under him.

He saved the actual hairdryer for the bigger occasions

But otherwise he was happy to criticise players. In his own words saying he couldn't wait till Monday

And if players answer him back he went straight through them.

So maybe sort your own research methods.

If Ferguson felt a player sank by being directly criticised he would address the whole team but he wouldn't ever hold back.

1950s was before Ferguson's time as a manager btw.

{Ed001's Note - if you say so. But you will find that criticising is nothing to do with screaming in a player's face. Neville and Ferdinand make up stories for after dinner speeches etc a bit like Dean Saunders did about Clough. Now please don't bother arguing, you are the most ignorantly arrogant poster on any of our sites and there is no point talking to you as you won't listen. You think you know it all.

Oh and the 1950s clearly went over your head in your self righteous attempts to be a know it all.

You are no Tesla that is for sure.}

It's all coming out now. By all means give someone a rocket if they aren't pulling their weight in a game but in training is a joke. Heard rumours of the sports science guy being appalled at Lennons methods and isn't happy with how he does things. Brendan was always very calm and collected and that usually transferred to the squad. Always found Lennon to be too bitter and didn't conduct himself well in post match interviews. Hopefully we set the bar higher than him and these things have ruled him out of consideration.

Times have changed so much so, that Roy Keane nor M O'Neil didn't even turn up at ROI training , probably because they knew it would end up in a row if they were there. Didn't B R annoy Poor Sterling and that set off his move from L'pool to Manchester City .
I am beginning to think that it would be better for everyone if Lennon doesn't finish up with Celtic job . Even though there are very few managing a top flight team who has as many SPL trophies as manager as Lennon .
Too many so called Celtic supporters expect a well known and very successful manager for next season, I hope they are not disappointed.
