In light of the recent European result and the identified lack of a strike force, I wonder what will now be the cost of not putting-up the £1 Million for Johnny Russell?

DerickAU

1.) It wouldn't even have been as much as s million it was 750000 which makes it worse? Why just not play stokes best goal getter we have just now?

2.) 22 Aug 2013 13:13:57
Good call mate, get him in.

3.) When are people going to realise, we didn't bid for him. Therefore we didn't lose out because of cost, regardless how much he went for.

4.) Said at the time we should have put the money on him as we would and will regret it! Hail Hail

5.) Nameless poster, people know a bid wasn't put in, what people are trying to ask is WHY didn't we bid for him, we should have as I feel he could of been a better player than stokes with us, we have missed out big time on a good young scottish talent that would of fired the goals in for us in the SPL and don't bother sayin 'what about europe' he's already scored in europa league for Utd so there is your european experience.

S

6.) He would have cost celtic a lot more than what derby payed due to us being in the same league. And as a guy said we never bid for him so never lost out!

7.) How can 'S' call someone a nameless poster? Is that his name? JB. that's my name.

8.) Jb what a fool, get over your wee Russell thing, we didn't want him. he's not a miss like Fletcher and mccarthy, he ain't that good, ., .kbarry

9.) As far as I'm aware we made no official bid for him but was told the asking price was considerably more than Derby paid. I keep seeing people banging on about biscuit tins etc but let's be honest the same people would be shouting from the rooftops if these players turned out to be another David Fernandez or Daryl Murphy. Unlike teams down south we do not have the money to buy big then if it doesn't work out buy big again to fix it so I for one am quite content waiting for the right player at the right price who will help us progress.

10.) We bid £500k in the jan window and was dismissed.
What changed in the following 6 months then? Obviously it was felt he would be a positive addition so u can only assume the thought if going to £750k was too much!
Biscuit tin as always.
We go out next wk and I can write u now word for word what the Peter L pr dept will roll out.
Accept it, been doing it for over 25 yrs now, we as a club are afraid to take the leap and push on.
We've aboard content on winning lge then hoping we punch above weight in CL. That's the then, now b future.
I still expect us to get thru because that side r so bad but don't know if its a good thing. Dread to think of the group stages
Stevo Dundee

11.) Decision not to bid was NL's not PL's. f Lenny wanted him we'd have signed him, if there's a gripe overtransfers it needs to be on others we actually have pursued. Paul

This is the worst Celtic team I can ever recall! The Europa League will be a potential embarrassment for any game that this team take part in.

DerickAU

1.) The worst Celtic team you can recall? What age are you? Three? DH

If this Alfred Finnbogason is as good as some of the video's I have seen recently suggests, why don't we give them the £5M they are looking for, as that still gives us £250K in the bank from the Hooper sale, or are we going to wait until we get knocked-out of the Champions League next week before we panic buy?

DerickAU

1.) It's always the same with us; selling players is seldom a problem, but we seem to haggle, bicker and hesitate- (sometimes the agents are to blame) -when buying and often we miss out.
When we sold the spine of the team, the potential replacements should have been identified and bids/fees should have been agreed ASAP.
The manager has had 3 CL qualifiers to negotiate and should not have to 'make do' while his team was being dismantled, albeit for vast profit.
Today seems to be tipped for new arrival(s) being unveiled, but nothing so far at 1pm; here's hoping?

Sell him now! We can draft in a better replacement at short notice - Tommy Gemmell maybe, that's how much Izzy contributes to the team, unless losing the ball & causing supporter coronaries are part of the gig. :-]
