Afternoon All

I'm astonished and quite sad about the amount of negativity during this transfer window.

Sometimes I question what team some of these posters actually support?

You would think that we haven't signed any players with some comments and posts.

A few of our recent signings are currently in 1st team squad, have been on bench and / or played minutes on park.

I agree there are several positions that need to be added to, better quality etc.
(We all have differing opinions on what's needed) .

Celtic have player's lined up, a few of those will sign during the last 2 weeks of this transfer window.

I'm fairly certain that many teams don't finalise transfers until late on in any transfer window.

Over the last 2 seasons we have signed up players quite early on in transfer window because that's what was needed at that time.

Celtic are damned if they do and damned if they don't in some supporters eyes.

Either transfer targets / signings are not good enough, are projects, not expensive enough, are too cheap, etc etc.

Some posters / fans will never be happy with what Celtic do and achieve.

Celtic conduct there transfer business in a professional, mostly discreet, no over the top PR, etc. Unlike some other teams.

Healthy debate and opinion is good, however when it comes to complete negativity around the team I support and love with a passion then you can count me out.

Always Keep the Faith.

Totally agree Brian. We will see if the club has decided to stand still once again at the end of the window. How many opportunities have we had to really expand on the quality of the squad and how many times have we stood still? I’ve lost count. As the majority think, we are fed up with it and we should be miles ahead of where we are.

Well said Brian, I have faith the Club are working vigorously to get the right players in at the right price. I have been really disappointed with Cal Mac in his first 2 games and get the feeling maybe the last 4 or so years are beginning to catch up on him, he seems to be losing possession in dangerous areas. I would like to see Holm get a wee run in the team and give Cal a good rest. One month down the line and we’ll see Celtic at their best. KTF.

The proof will be on the 2nd of sep. but up till mow yes we've brought players in for modest outlays. think mist fans are a bit disappointed as they see a chance to really push on but we seem to be stuck in the 3m to 4m market. you see a club like ajax similar to us pay decent fees and you look at their European success. but we never push the boat out.

I agree we are stuck in that 3-5 million bracket Mally, but the issue is that we only have 6 games in champions league then it’s pot luck to if we get through or not. Boys could go to leagues in Europe and get paid similar money, play in more competitive leagues and still get Europa league or conference league. You can’t argue with players not wanting to play against Dundee and Ross county when they could play against better quality.

But that's my point ajax and psv and teams of the same ilk as us get beyond the 6 games. they spend more.

Ajax are a different breed, they produce/ fill their youth academies with top talent, stay patient and sell when the time is right, moat fans moan about the great prospects we've purchased, if the club were filling the academy up with top talent and giving 16/ 17 year old game time and it lost us points the fan base would be right on the boards back, we should be able to as its a two horse race but 3pts lost away to St Johnstone because we banked on playing two exciting 16 year olds just wouldn't wash for most, so we can't try and mould ourselves as ajax, they have a track record of producing gems and receiving good transfer fees, which is always more than not reinvested in youth, not just 20-23 year old, academy players for the future!
Our track record of promoting from our owm academy isn't impressive.

Mally, we cannot compare ourselves to Ajax, they sell their players for way above what we do and teams are willing to pay for them and sell many more at tthose inflated prices. They occasionally spend big but it's their homegrown talent that makes them the money. We don't bring those type of players through, so we buy more at low prices to maximise our profit. Unlike then no team will pay us 40 mil upwards for a player.

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure Ajax made a loss of about €30 million in their last accounts.}

Brian mate don't think it's negativity. I was under the impression that celtic wanted to progress in Europe. Maybe we have been a bit spoilt with the quickness in which we done business. But if we are looking to try push forward I Europe. In my opinion we are weaker than last season. Jot, starfelt and mooy where all first team players. I do believe some of the younger guys will come good. But we are for sure weaker than last season. Everyone and his dog knows we need a keeper and we haven't yet done that even though there's a world class one available. Feels like we have gone back in time with dealing with our transfers. We pay a lot of money to follow our club some of us would like to see a real ready made first team player brought in. Anyway have a good day mate having an opinion that isn't your own doesn't mean that opinion is wrong. HH.
