Reading all the posts about our display last night, yes we were poor, but everyone on here seems to go overboard after a poor display.
These are NOT excuses, but just some of the reasons that contributed to our 0-0.
There must have been at least a dozen players (12) away on international duty, and they did not have much recovery time, as the "impartial" computer fixtures had us playing first on a Friday.
Also, we must give credit to St Mirren, who were fired up to impress their new manager.
We have to mention the officials, yes Nitcham was stupid but I think he deserved a red, but in saying that "son of Dallas" closed his eyes to some dodgy tackling by Saints players.
But even with 10 men we should have beaten an average team, and our passing for Rosenburg game, MUST be sharpar and slicker and side and back passes kept to a minimum.
So please let's put all the negativity behind us, and support the team. COYBIG.

Just excuses I’m afraid Tim, your blinded by the Sevco result. All the clubs with international players coming back don’t seem to be drawing with the low level teams.

Performances over the last 18 months have been a joke, I actually think it’s so bad just now that BR is giving Christie game time to highlight just how bad it is

Supporting the team is never the issue. It’s the constant gruelling watch for 90 mins that’s annoying fans and the severe lack of creativity.

Why would Rodgers highlight his own shortcomings?

St Mirren will surprise a lot of teams if the new manager can recapture and build on and improve the team spirit that existed last season, bit silly of Stubbs to try and introduce a lot of new players and change last year's championship winning team, or what was left of it.

Kev T, I'll start with the only part of your post I agree with, not severe as you say but there is a lack of creativity at the moment. To say "the performances over the past 18 months have been a joke" is just one of the biggest load of Shiite I've read on here. In this joke period of 18 months we've secured 5 trophys, jeezo unfekinbelievable.

I'll tell you what's rubbish and that's our performance over the last 12 months, it's shockingly slow and boring pass pass pass oh god this is so boring, we get to half way line then pass back to defence it's rubbish and for the ones that say but we won this we won that come on the teams we are playing we should be winning all the cups even our second team should win the league, we have one of the worst goals scored record so far how often do we batter teams we don't we win by 1 or 2 goals and that's if we are lucky enough not to get a draw the team is not clicking and the tactics are all wrong our new signings mostly consists of players from the spfl that in my opinion are not good enough players from Dundee players from Aberdeen from st mirren and crocks that she sit injured, what are we going to get by buying like this not a lot that's for sure, it's a joke at the min let's not lie about that I think/ hope things will change over the next few month but won't hold my breath boring boring boring Neil Lennons celtic team would of destroyed this team fact.

Why else play Christie? He’s absolutely not good enough and should be with an Aberdeen.

Stevie and Mally - wake up eh? Lennon and Deila should have had trebles given no competition over the majority of tenure.

BR is doing what the minimum is getting trebles and the big deal for Celtic going forward is European progress where clearly his ambitions are not getting matched

BR first season was brilliant, since then it’s been very poor and so many games have been simply not good enough.

To go from Moussa to Christie sums us up to a tee. Downsize every two years. No thought to even attempt to make the fall in quality ever happens. Christie is simply nowhere near good enough. To expect the lad to reach heights he doesn’t possess is unfair to him.

Our potency as an attacking unit can be clearly seen as being much reduced. Losing Paddy has left us with Forrest whose consistency has been an issue since he first came in. His final baw and ability to beat players swings wildly from game to game. We never know what we are getting.

Morgan and Arzani to me are the only alternatives we have to try and figure out a way to unpack crowded defences. We failed in the CL and we have failed in most games to score as many goals. Christie is not the answer and having no one breathing down Forrest’s neck leaves us with a player who is too often not able to do the job.

Griff also looks as if he couldn’t score in a brothel right now. That may be down to the crash in clear opportunities we create. But, when he is given a chance he is failing to convert too often.

A player makes a sideways pass because they don’t have the ability to take the defenders on and beat them. That’s the unpalatable truth. Arzani and Morgan and Makimuku need to be given a chance. Even if it onky serves as a kick up the arse for players who just aren’t cutting it.

I can only assume the ones that are overreacting to a slump in form are only old enough to remember Seville onwards, you should of seen us in the 90's, this is why I will never tire of seeing us pick up silverware, no matter the type of performance . Your comment Kev " BR is doing the minimum winning trebles" is another ridiculous statement . Hate to think what you're going to do when we finally lose a cup tie which is bound to happen eventually. No team, . no matter what league they're in should be arrogant enough to believe it is their right to win everything.

I've seen all our best and worst since about 1975 onwards and yes this is far better than the bad times but right now the spl/ top league is probably the worst I've seen it. and the football were playing now isn't good hasn't been for a while . would this team beat the ferguson era aberdeen or the pre sevco.

And another thing. Rosenborg will have noticed our inability so far to create chances. Leaving us with the ball and only wearing out the grass is sideways sweeps will be exactly what they want. A draw for them would be a great result and hoping to exploit a CB slotted in our of position would be my game plan.

Even if Lustig plays his lack of pace is a weakness. I fully expect Rogers to go with the same players who have toiled to make things happen. What choice does he have with not one player being brought in who would instill confidence. A 32 year old free agent? He would have wanted more options, but our board focus on the cash in the bank option and see us slide.

Rogers has been let down. We have been let down and frustrations will be leveled at players who should not be playing in certain positions. Too many players are not firing, having no one to come in is typical Lawell. We couldn’t break down a team who will not get out of the bitten 4 all year. I have absolutely no belief in our board and am preparing myself for another last day scramble for players we neither want or who will improve us.

Being cheapskates and devoid of ambition the board are in the dock. The players there need to step up as you can get your arse the board won’t.

All the talk about players out of contract only reminds us how inept our board are in moving us forward. I won’t be giving players pelters for being in the team when they shouldn’t be. Rogers has no wiggle room. And that is nothing but a feckin disgrace.

Here’s hoping we can find our form. We have no options other than hope. You can put the pot on for our board trainwrecking us. That’s where my fury will be directed, where it belongs.

Remember Rogers quite after the cup final.

“We will bring in quality, we must. ”

Not when Egomaniac is in charge of getting them.

I don't know what's happened to Sinclair, but if he is fit and in any kind of form then I think he should play.
On Friday we had Brown, N'tcham, Rogic, and McGregor all playing, I think it is getting too congested in the midfield and we should use the whole width of the pitch as much as we can.
When we were so impressive 2 seasons ago that is what we did and teams found it hard to defend against us.

Stevie born in 1980 so I’ve dealt with the bad times like most

I don’t live in the past and my comments are for the current period we find ourselves in. Our league is poor, I expect us to lose the odd game now and again regardless of how we play but what I can’t understand despite the trophies last year is is how we as a team have fallen significantly from BR 1st season?

There is certainly no sign this season that things will change. This boring style of play we have passing sideways is killing my soul. We put in crosses when we have no one capable of attacking it and all the teams know this and play just like St Mirren did.

We will get a footballing lesson from the Red Bulls and Rosenborg will have learned the lesson from the earlier qualifier -

Maybe you guys have a sensational level of patience and are happy with things as they are. I like a lot of others simply think things should be so much better.

Brendan Rodgers the man who's bigger than Celtic football club. Brendan says:
It's the fault of the Celtic pitch.
It's the fault of the hearts pitch.
It's the fault of the board.
It's the fault of the players.
It's the fault of the officials.
Never been brendan's fault.

Exactly Mally that's what pisses me off. A win against Rosenborg and an away win at Killie and everything will be rosy again until our next draw then all hell will break loose again. God help us when there is really something to moan about.

On Friday night we played with an over defensive approach . we played with a slow careful methodical approach keeping procession seemed our top priority . I think Ntcham was mad with himself that he couldn't get control of the ball despite hunting all over the pitch . Dallas ended his participation in the 37th min after allegedly Ntcham had committed two yellow card offences . Fair enough although Dallas gave countless frees to the Saints who were certainly sinners on the night but Dallas absorbed them from all guilt .
St Mirren started brightly and we had Forrest too often 20-30 yds from own goal and Mc Gregor on the left who rarely seems to be as effective when Rogic is playing . To me Rogic doesn't do enough to start a game but can be a game winner when coming on with about 30 mins to go . Eduardo cannot play the lone striker role when he is isolated on his own . We need to be getting far more players into box and not with a big responsibility of getting back to cover . We have to take a bit of a risk and rely on defensive midfield and centre defenders to do their bit, when we are playing ave or below average SPL teams, even when the like of Dallas is influencing game.
