I know it's paper talk but O'Halloran from St Johnstone. This has to be a complete joke.

I'd rather have Ciftci!

He was on the books before and we let him go and I think his father was a coach at Celtic?
Nevertheless, if it's true, it underlines how lazy we are getting in our scouting and how standards are dropping.
What happened with the links we had with Barcelona when Crosas came over or even our Scandinavian scouting?
A club of our size and resources should be forging and maintaining the links that brought The likes of Ki, Rogic, VVD, Nakamura, Bitton and Izzaguire etc.

I remember the time when the great Jock Stein signed Scottish based players almost exclusively . Some of these did very well for us, and some seemed to be over whelmed in joining Celtic . It doesn't matter where we source them, the one thing we want is more of them to perform well for Celtic ( compared to recent years )

Oldhoy, in Jock Stein's time the standard in Scottish football was far higher than it is today, in those days Scottish players were sought after, look at how many of them played in England.
In my opinion we are only looking at Scottish players because they are cheap, we should be looking far wider afield.
This current regime running the club is past a joke, they seem intent on driving away the fans that are left.
I wish they would tell us what their ambitions for the club really are.

Gerry c agree with most of your post it's spot on, were I would disagree, it's not what their ambitions for the club we need to know, it's their ambitions for themselves were the danger lies.

Fine to buy good young scottish players but they ain't ready yet for the first team. Buy them and put them out on loan like we have with christie that way they can prove themselves as more than one season wonders and also get first team football. We still need to buy ready to play players who will make an immediate impact on the team.

In jocks day we almost exclusively dealt in Scotland and England and there was not the huge gulf between Celtic and the rest of the teams that there is these days.
Transfers abroad (or even from England) rarely happened.
I have no problem with signing scots talent but the recent raid on Dundee Utd to grab three players, was pretty desperate in my opinion and we should be more select and precise in cherry picking real Celtic potential - not just flavour of the month in an average side.

We have posts upon posts condemning the standard of the majority of foreign players we have been signing. So it is reasonable to suggest that we, the fans, are not happy with shopping in the foreign markets . I think it is a brave step in the right direction by Deila to concentrate more fully on the local market . Nothing in football produces instant hits and I think we should encourage Deila and give him time .
We have a young team who are improving, I remember last season Gordon despite having Virgil and Denayer playing in front of him was making half a dozen saves every game . The talk this season has been the weakness of our central defence yet Gordon is practically letting every shot in for a goal.

Good, young, Scottish players? O'Halloran isn't good or young. Hopefully just paper p*sh.

TBH I thinks O'Halloran has improved massivley! Thinks he would bring something to the team. We are screaming out for someone to actually hit the byline that also has a decent delivery and he does just that. Have been keeping a close eye on him this season and he is a very consitant performer I'm not massivley keen on focusing soley on the Scottish market, but if I had to pick 1 player to bring into our squad. O'Halloran would be my pick and think he may suprise a few folk (IMO)

And if I had to choose a b*llock to lose it would be my right! That's all well and good Tompo but c'mon man, he's no better than what we have. At all. And they ain't as good as we should or could have.
