I was bored today so I scrolled Youtube for past football games and I found this gem of a game, look at the score and then remember this game was at Tynecastle which made it even more remarkable

I actually remember watching this game LIVE (and YES those counting how many years ago it was 53 years ago)

But I heard wee McInnes is STILL moaning about this result as he felt Hibs got all the decisions and some Hibs fans got into home areas which gave Hibs and unfair advantage also as his players felt intimidated by so many Hibs fans lol.

Celtic won 8 in a row at Easter Road 3-0 on the last game of that season.
With 7 matches remaining both Celtic and Rangers were top with Hibs only one point behind in 3rd.

Celtic done our usual and won all 7 games to win the league.
Rangers had one Draw away to Aberdeen which was crucial although they finished a massive goal difference of 21 goals worse off to the Champions Celtic.

Hibs had a very poor ending to the season with 3 Draws and 4 Defeats from their last 7 league games and they only scored 2 goals in those matches.

Hibs also reached the Quarter Finals of the Cup Winners Cup that season but lost 5-4 on Aggregate to Hajduk Split.
Hibs only reached the Cup Winners Cup because Celtic won the Double the previous season beating Hibs 6-1 in the 1972 Scottish Cup Final.

Hibs actually had a brilliant league record at Tynecastle in those days.

Hibs went undefeated in league games at Tynecastle over a 10 year period.
Hibs lost in September 1963 and then they didn’t lose another Tynecastle league match until September 1973.
Winning 6 and Drawing 3 league games during that period.

Another young player who wasn't given a good chance at Celtic, I'm sure we was voted one of the best young wingers in a UEFA pole and one to watch.
BR then had the bright idea to play him as a Wingback and his career stalled.

Miller never really got a chance in his natural position in a good Celtic team under Brendan.
Calvin only ever played fullback for Celtic which wasn’t fair on the player but we had really good attacking options back then.

If it was 2 points per win and goal difference was being used then Hearts would have won both titles in 1965 and 2026.

Hearts lost the 1965 title on goal average although they had a much better goal difference than Kilmarnock.
It was changed to goal difference for the 1970/ 71 season although some reports mention it was the following season.

But Celtic went into the last game in 1971 having to lose by 11 goals for Aberdeen to nick the title.
If it was goal average then Celtic just had to lose to Clyde by any scoreline for Aberdeen to finish top.
Celtic beat Clyde 6-1 and I think that was the last Lisbon Lions lineup match.

Then in 1994 the points system got changed from 2 points to 3 points per Win.
If it was still 2 points per Win then Hearts would be Champions this season.

You’re right Troy about Dumbarton having a better goal difference and they also had a better head to head in games against Rangers.
They had a playoff match to decide the title but it finished in a Draw 2-2.

Hibs were denied 3 in a row in 1953 to Rangers on goal average although Hibs had a better goal difference.
Similar to what happened between Hearts and Kilmarnock in 1965.

Papers today all have gushing stories of all the pre season work being done around Ibrox, as if Sevco are the ONLY club working on their ground, even the non league teams try and upgrade their facilities pre season
Bit I liked is they listed all the improvements being made, including their Trophy Room, an Sevco spokesperson said "yes as we have not won many trophies lately we have decided to turn Trophy Room into an ensuite".

Shankland has won a couple of minor honours with Championship and League One title medals.

Sevco are on to a lose - lose situation with Shankland.
