This post is a list of a potential starting 11 that we have reportedly been linked with and missed out on in recent years that have went on to have at success since.
NONE OF WHICH WOULD HAVE COST MORE THAN 10M AT THE TIME.
The players listed would have been great signings in my opinion and im sure there are many more that evades me.
CELTIC BOARD AT THEIR BEST

kelleher - left too late in transfer market, liverpool wouldn't sell or loan so late would have cost about 7m earlier in the window arguably best no 2 playing in england
hickey - brought in laxalt and jonjo kenny on loan instead cost bologne about 1.5m
ardon jashari - primarily a dm. one of switzerlands most promising players would have cost less than 10m
piero hincapie - joined leverkusen instead. now one of the ist names in staring 11 leverkusen who are top of bundesliga reporedly cost leverkusen 5m
quentin merlin - recently linked with psg and debut closing in on debut with france celtic reportedly put off by 7m price tag set by nantes
mohammed elyounoussi - been on form for copenhagen especially in CL. would have cost nothing and an obvious upgrade on forrest, mikey and yang
john mcginn - captains scotland and an aston villa side who realistically are chasing top 4 pistol pete didn't think he was worth 4m
lewis ferguson - very similar situation to mcginn. would have joined if offer was made. been a stand out for bologne since signing cost bologne about 2m
oscar gloukh - one of the most highly rated players in europe. was linked with celtic before joining salzburg for 7m
ivan toney - linked with celtic during the il fated C.V. season. now one of the best strikers in PL
casper tengstedt - scored more than 1 goal a game for rosenborg before moving to benfica, cost benfica 7m.

There's no world in which liverpool sell Kelleher for anything close to £7M. They'll be wanting similar to what Man City got for Bazunu and Trafford.

Derry Tim

The last transfer window is adequate evidence of the board's incompetence.

Yet after 20 years of failure in Europe Peter Lawell has the arrogance and audacity to state at the AGM that 'we're one of the best run clubs in Europe'.

That to me is a comment made by a man with delusions of adequacy.

Please don't tell me we should just be happy not to be dead like the Ragers. Having £72 million in the bank isn't the benchmark for successfully running a football club stability needs to be combined with success on the park at the highest level and the board have failed massively in the latter respect. Does anybody really believe Celtic couldn't have signed the four players that we all knew were required that would have strengthened the first eleven before the Champions League?

Where is the evidence that the January transfer window will be any different? Will the board sanction funds? Will Mark Lawell get it right this time if the funds are allocated? We have a 32 man squad and more than half of them are never going to make it. Gross mismanagement, negligence and incompetence. Rather than boast of the £72 million in the bank they should be held to account for the £30 million wasted.

Rodgers stated at the weekend that he asked the board for four quality additions. How many did he get? He came back to the club stating all the bits were in place at the club that weren't there when he left and that Mark Lawell was doing a wonderful recruitment job. His latest comments would suggest having returned and dug a bit deeper he may now have a different view. We might have all the requisite offices in terms of sports science, data analysts and recruitment etc. but do we have the right people occupying those offices and are they fit for purpose?

They are managing to scunner their current season ticket holders. I didn't purchase the Champions League package because of the lack of ambition and I'm not alone I've heard others say they won't be purchasing them next year in what are difficult economic times. Peter knows that if JFP doesn't take his tickets another man will. But will there be a third man when the second man gets scunnered. If they lost 60,000 supporters could they find another 60,000? How sustainable a business model is that Peter? Under Ronnie Delia the top tier was closed.

Native American Indians didn't make a decision apparently without considering the impact of that decision on the next two generations. The Celtic board don't have the vison to look a season ahead to next years Champions League campaign never mind a three year business plan.

Oh for the vision and foresight of a Fergus McCann who was watching a different film. But he was an entrepreneur and that's why he was a millionaire. Other than Dermot Desmond the Celtic Board are millionaires because we made them millionaires. There is £72 million in the bank because we put it there not because of anything the Desmonds, Lawells or Nicholson have done but despite them being there.

Until there is change we will continue to do what we do and get what we get. Failure. But we're better than the Ragers eh.

JFP 1888, while I don’t agree with thee board, I have yet to see any signs that the Board’s business model is not sustainable. . It may not be the business model that u or I would choose but it is definitely very robust alive and well .
Maybe we should look at what. Makes our club different from Copenhagen . We seem to buy more younger and not as well developed players as clubs like Copenhagen . Why is this, it can’t be to make money as most claim our Tory Board is out to do at all times . Copenhagen spend more on signing players but get more for play If they want to sell . Celtic’s main difference is that we have a league that the major European and other agents know is corrupted by referees and VAR . They advise their better players to avoid our match fixed league .
Is it any wonder we are better than Rangers and not as good as Real Madrid.
