Have to say I just watched James Forrest 100 goals, some real crackers I forgot really top drawer. Regardless of your views of Jamesey to score that many goals in any league is a remarkable feat. Well worth a watch imo.

His stats are brilliant Kwaj,
Especially when you add in his assists record.

{Ed007's Note - Really, Buzz? In 14 seasons playing for Celtic as an attacker you think breaking the 100 goals and assists mark is brilliant, is it about 460 games he's played? In an era where Celtic have dominated the Scottish game like no other Club has - even the cheating TRIFC club - a winger for Celtic has put those numbers in is nowhere near good enough. He's scored some important goals and he's scored some cracking goals but Forrest has never reached the heights he should have and has had about 3 good season for Celtic, the rest have been pretty underwhelming and mediocre, when a player is told he needs to change his car because it is affecting his injury problems and he refuses there's a problem.
It's hardly prolific when you look at someone like Scott Sinclair or even Jota's return.}

Scott Sinclair hit 60 goals in 3 full seasons. Abada and Jota both managed 28 in 2 seasons. Forrest has scored some big goals in his time and deserves recognition but he averages about 7 goals a season which isn't anything special.

James Forrest had a poor record before Brendan came in 2016.
He’s also not really kicked a ball in the last 3 years.
Those spells were not helped due to his poor injury record.

James was outstanding for 4 seasons in our most successful period.
He scored about 70 goals and he also got nearly as many assists.

Not many players have scored 100 goals and also had 100 assists for their club but you make a good point that he’s really only had about 4 really impressive seasons for Celtic.

JF scored important goals - especially in Europe; but inconsistency and injury hampered what could have put James Forrest right up there with the Celtic Greats. Probably not going to happen, but I would like to see s going for a winger who excites the crowd; beats his man and is capable of the unexpected - a bit like Jota.
Celtic have a tradition of entertainers and flair and they win games.

I've been saying the same thing for the last few years about Forrest ED.
As you mention he has had some good moments but for me he had one good 6 month period when he was very consistant and free from injury and that was during BR first spell and Forrest got a new contract out of it.
People throw the term Legend about far to easy these days just as they did with Rogic but for me neither player are anywhere near that kind of status.

{Ed007's Note - I'd agree with all of that, Jon. ?

Ed James Forrest is a winger not a striker, Jimmy Johnstone only scored just over a hundred in over 500 games, 100 goals and 100 assists is a more than decent return in my opinion .

{Ed007's Note - You can't really compare players from different eras, how many goals would a player of Jimmy Johnstone's ability score in today's modern game against the dross that plays in the SPFL with the protection given to modern players?
Look at Scott Sinclair's record for a better comparison, he was here for 3 full seasons and scored 62 goals for us, Abada's got nearly 30 goals in 2 seasons so far.
Any winger worth their salt playing for a Celtic team that has dominated Scottish football they way we have should be comfortably hitting double figures year in and year out, Forrest has managed that a measly THREE times in his Celtic career.}

It’s good to see people actually speaking up about JF, his stats and general contribution over the years has been below what is expected of a Celtic attacker, Ed already covered the Sinclair/ jota/ Abada comparisons. He also let his contract run down a few years back and eventually signed it near end of window. Rodgers got best out of him but even then he was fortunate as Patrick Roberts had taken his place, he only got back in due to injury. He’s had a charmed life if you ask me.
