I'll challenge those who defended the resting of players the other night and who are not disillusioned by how AP is using the squad. Treating Europe like an inconvenience was a mistake.

Best 11 almost all of the time. When do you change it? Injury or home cup games against opposition that warrants it.

How to get a result against us in SPL? Sit in, frustrate and defend the box. We couldn't put a cross on the end of a napper or foot even if they weren't there!

Poor decisions from ange cost us today. He never makes any changes to have a positive impact on the game. Rogic shouldn't have started and should have been subbed at half time. Maeda doesn't look good enough for me. Still 10 games to go but need to improve vastly if we are to win the league.

Putting high balls into one of the smallest strikers in the league was never going to work. Should have been playing through them or over them. Juranovic and GG the only ones on form atm.

I will take up your challenge PeeKay.
Celtic have played 4 Away league matches this season, directly after an Away match in Europe.
In those 4 games, today has been our only point.
1 point from 12 definitely won’t win us the league title.
Our performance last week and again this week has convinced me more, that it’s best that Celtic are out of Europe, at this stage of this season.
Celtic can build on our European progress after this season.
Remember our next European tie could be in the Champions League group stage next season.
Why would you want Celtic to jeopardise that by getting to the latter stages of the Conference League this season.
We will need to agree to disagree because I know you also feel strongly in your argument.

Did Ange not say in January he was delighted with the squad and the depth?

I don’t understand why we need to rest players for Europe when we have the players available that we do.

The first leg AP is solely responsible for. Why? His unwavering demand that we will attach no matter what. The best coaches and teams in the world don’t even do that. It’s astonishing, stupid and pretty arrogant? Who does he think we are? Secondly the team selection for that game was wrong. Stevie Wonder phoned me and said he saw it coming…. that’s how obvious it was.

In the second game he decided Europe was beyond us. The team selected and how they played epitomised that. Criminal.

However I think you (BB) and others said that the resting of players stood us in good stead for today. So what’s the excuse? We rested our best players to concentrate on Hibs and we still failed. How can Europe be at fault for that?

The bottom line is if a team sits in against us and we don’t get a break of the ball or score a screamer we run out of variation and ideas. We have no ability to score via crosses in tight games. This has been the case for seasons on end.

That’s why we are not picking up the points not Europe.

You have just contradicted your own argument.
Ange Did say he was happy with his squad in January and that’s why he’s using his squad.
Today was very poor again and if Celtic don’t win the league this season, it will be because we’re not good enough yet.
The one thing I’m certain off, Celtic will drop less points being out of Europe and it will give us a better chance.
I do understand your frustration because our Coefficient points isn’t good enough but Celtic could get 4 Coefficient points automatically for Champions League group stage qualification.

I think what you might be missing in my point is the way he is using the squad.

The depth is there for injuries or extreme cases of fatigue. However we are only half a dozen games or so back from a month long break. That why I am frustrated that he feels they need rested to prepare for Hibs.

I think we should all put away this fear and theory that competing and doing well on all fronts is what will kill our league campaign. I just don’t see any real evidence of that.

I think the opposite is what is doing us in. Some players who might perform well are not guaranteed to start the next game and I don’t find that a good game of psychology. If they best 11 is on form and winning just keep playing them. Minor changes would be expected for an injury or something.

I also think that AP needs to get smarter on the tactics, style and hopefully in the summer players of metal will be signed. Not sure we have had a dominant CB type in a good few years. Since KT left we have attempted loans and signings for left back. All are mostly an utter waste of money.

I can only hope in the summer that we rectify areas of the squad and he gets a bit more cute on tactics and style. Win the game first. Flair comes second for me. Especially in Europe.
