I haven't watched a huge amount of St johnstone this season but if anyone has what's your thoughts on Rooney?
I'm not saying for 1st place right back but from what I've seen of him he is better than what we have at the moment and I think he is still early 20's.
Does seem to have good physical strength and would add height to the defence plus looks like he has good determination and likes to tackle, things we have been missing.

I'm better than Kenny. The bar should never be the guys who are better than duds. Our recruitment of defenders is an ongoing farce that goes back years. The amount of absolute duds we buy to defend our goal defies the law of averages. We really need a manager who knows what one looks like. Going cheap and hoping, the Lawell way, is and has been an absolute disaster. Our current defence is by far the worst I have ever seen. Totally and completely hopeless, in fact that's an understatement. A whole new defence with only Julien even near it from what we have. The rest aren't good enough and thst includes Welsh who although better than Duffy, isn't good enough if we actually want a back line that isn't a joke.

It's not about going cheap and hoping. Rangers backline and goalie, and prob sub defenders were bought fir about the same price as Julian alone. Its about proper recruitment. I'd take an out of contract defence and goalie with bags of experience over the 5-7mills paid on simo, Julian, barkas etc.

If we took anyone from st Johnstone it should be Jason Kerr. Will be a solid defender as he gets older and better.
