I remember at the end of last season being full of hope and excitement after seeing the RD style of play starting to take form and being a hand's width away from a potential treble. Then summer came and went, one of the worst windows I can ever remember, and the CL qualification horror show repeated itself. The EL group isn't even worth covering. Now we're coming up to January and I'm reading names like Libor Kozak and Michael O'Halloran as potential targets? I'm starting to despair and actually become quite angry at the complete dross the club have spent/or are rumoured to be willing to spend OUR money on!

Kev Your money is spent in the way the Celtic Board thinks is best . When you buy your season ticket money there are no tic boxes as to how you want the Board to spend your money or other supporters money We trust the Board and that is only but right . The biggest problem may be within your self Kevbhoy, as it seems you are getting annoyed about the ability of people who are linked to us by mere rumours . I watched yesterday's game and I thought most of the Celtic players played well. I also thought Michael O'Halloran was the stand out best player on the St Johnston's side . I don't know if Celtic signs him will he come on leaps and bounds at the bigger club with better training facilities or whether he find been a Celtic player too much too handle.

He's 24 and he's scored less than 20 career goals Old Bhoy, give yourself a shake. I don't have a problem, I can assure you. I've witnessed the club buying guys like Hooper, Wanyama, Ki and Van Dijk in recent years only to sell them for huge profits and fail to reinvest the money on suitable replacements. If you're happy with that then good for you but as a life long supporter I want to see some ambition from my club.

If O'Halloran had scored a couple, we would all have been saying 'how easy it is to slice through the Celtic defence', maybe the only difference between Celtics form in Europe and domestically, is that the European strikers are sharper and take their chances, while the SPL strikers miss theirs, has'nt O'Halloran been at Celtic already, so he would know all about it, might be worth a punt if they ofload some of the others, because he is a good player.

I have no idea if Halloran will make it good if he comes to Celtic but been 24 hardly makes him to old to play for Celtic . If he played for some obscure foreign and someone posted a clip from U tube some would be salivating . I, too am a life long supporter and an old age pensioner .
The fact that the players you listed ALL insisted in leaving us, we were not good enough does make it easy for the Board to replace by the suitable standard, which in my mind would be the same standard . So it's not a matter whether we like it or not.

Oldbhoy Kev was referring to the fact O'halloran is 24 and he's only scored 20 career goals not the fact that he's too old.

I take it you don't want Champions League football then aindoh? Or even Europa League after Christmas? If you'd be alright with our club signing a guy who's scored roughly 1 in 6 at Scottish Premiership level then you've lost the plot completely.

I don't think I'd want him as the main striker, but he is very fast, and in certain games, would be perfect playing on the break alongside Griffiths, you have to be able to see the potential, Kevbhoy, don't look at the statistics, try and imagine what he'd be like in a different team playing with someone who could match his speed o foot with speed of thought.

i thought the guy O'halloran looked good when moved wide he has good control and pace well from what i saw from him yesterday anyway.

We have over the last five years or so signed a hell of a lot of players from all over Europe and the most of them seemed to be better partying off the pitch rather than scoring on the pitch . signing locally based players may help us to do better in Europe, I don't know how anyone can think that a 24 year old can't step up and perform better if given better opportunities and conditions .
24 year old have come to Celtic and played well before, O'Halloran may or may not be one such player, Celtic like other clubs spend big money using experts to run the rule over prospects like O'Halloran .

I would take O'Halloran not as a striker but he could be an an asset with his pace. We don't have much in our side. Thought he stood out for them yesterday. One I would definitely take on is Hayes from Aberdeen. Quick. Has a brilliant cross on him and he works like hell. He was the player who looked most dangerous against Hearts. The tanned one would prob never sell to us but I think Hayes would want to come. Any of they two would add pace. Get rid of stokes, Blackett, derk etc to fund these.

I'm not denying O'Halloran is a decent player, but as a club who are trying to improve what we already have and go as far as we can in Europe, I think we should be setting our sights a bit higher. I don't want to make this a debate about this particular player, he was merely a representation of my point that our club seems to lack any ambition in the transfer window at times. As Old Bhoy rightly pointed out, these are only rumours atm but they're altogether uninspiring.

Kevbhoy what do mean set our sights higher .
Is that we deserve better syndrome taking over .
Leicester City signed their two leading attackers at rather advanced age and really for very little money Vardey £1 m I think and his partner at aged 23 approximately £300k Do Leicester City deserve better?

Old Bhoy they signed Vardy after he reattled about 30 goals in a season, O'Halloran hasn't managed that in his entire career. I don't know why you keep making out that I said he was too old. If you could read you would know that I mentioned his age to show how poor his goals per season ratio is. You're nothing but a wind up merchant. Why on earth would any Celtic fan be happy if the club were to target a striker who realistically isn't even as good as Rooney, McGinn, Hayes or Juanma who are all in the same league.
