Hi Ed, a know you are a fan of James McLean

Did you see his open letter to Dave Whelan the Wigan chairman? it was powerful stuff and a good read leaving it almost impossible to deny his wishes in modern day times

ATVB JB7

{Ed007's Note - He shouldn't have even needed to write the letter though, Jamie, whatever happened to freedom of speech a ndfreedom of choice? McClean doesn't need to explain himself to anyone, good luck to the lad for sticking by his beliefs and not allowing people to dictate what he should or shouldn't be doing. If you want to wear a poppy then wear one, if you don't then don't, it's a completely personal choice and is nobody else's business.}

I agree Ed completely about the "freedom" but he was painted a villain in doing so, in doing the letter gives the "uneducated / ignorant" no room for doubts IMO!

Talking about the uneducated I see the other half brought in " the big gun " for there "tribute" A mean ffs the sound of that thing in front of kids there is just stupid!

{Ed007's Note - Poppies are meant to be worn to remember ordinary men and women who died for freedom, democracy and to defeat the brutal regimes of Facism, Nazism and Communism. They’re not meant to be worn for jingoistic imperialist jamborees like we see at Ibrox, they've hijacked what should be a solemn occasion for those involved and done their usual, turned it into something that is very ugly and twisted.}

This whole poppy thing is now becoming unbearable. Every year it is the same old story, they were firing a feckin gun at ibrokes today FFS. A gesture meant to be all about remembering the dead of WW1 and WW2 has been hijacked. let's not kid on here sevco stage manage this nonsense to get a dig at us.

Should it not be about ALL the young men who were sent to their graves at the whim of their queen and powerful people in the quest for money.

Re-Poppy,

Hi Guys as a Celtic fan all my life , I wear a poppy. I know that I don`t have to justify why I wear it but a lot off our fans don`t and they have their reasons for doing so.

My reason.

My Mother lost 2 sisters age 8 & 10 in the Clydebank blitz, so I lost 2 aunts.

war does not ask who you support our what colour you skin is.

So every year I stand for the min silence and I told my sons the reason I do it and they stand with me.

Respect for those who fought.
Respect for those who died.

My Granda fought in ww2 and survived, he was celtic daft and he was of irish decent. He always said it did not matter the man next to you what team or religion they were, we were fighting to keep each other alive.

would be good whatever your reasons for wearing/ not wearing one would be kept private and not be giving any attention and let people chose as they see fit

All Celtic fans, indeed any football fan, must make up their own minds about the poppy.
I wear a poppy, unahamedely, in memory of my late grandfather who was killed aboard HMS Hood in WW2.
Like ED007 and others say, some sad people have chosen to misrepresent what the poppy stands for and why people wear them but I wear mine with pride and will continually do so every year.

6.) 09 Nov 2014
I to have relatives who fought in the War, i'm sure most of us have.

Its quite bad the boy had to justify himself but the Poppy is getting misrepresented and its sad to see.

I have no issues at all with the Poppy and hope and pray that one day anyone misguided enough to believe some of the more recent wars have been necessary will find their way.

On a seperate note and those bashing Scotland and the UK - we do have positive things like the Welfare State and NHS which I sure far to many take for granted now. Hopefully we can all work together to save and preserve what we have rather than constantly looking for negatives.

7.) 09 Nov 2014
I have nothing against people not wearing a poppy but I do think the Celtic should have had one on the strips and as for those people that made a noise today was nothing more that shameful to the club and the other supporters that was there today THAT has nothing to do with football and should be kept away from it ALWAYS

If people want to respect Remembrance Day, that's fine with me . But don't force it on those who don't . The B A tried to kill me one night, when I was with the girl I have since married . All because I was driving on a lonely border road .

I agree with tonybhoy , these guys should be ashamed of themselves , just because you don't agree with it , doesn't make it right to show a blatant disregard and no respect to the brave men and women who died to protect our way of life and also the innocents of this world , and aye I know I ll take pelters for this post but hey I can hold my head up and live with myself for having these views , how many of the minority can really say the same!!

10.) 10 Nov 2014
The Falkirkbhoy, I too can hold my head up high and live with my decision

{Ed007's Note - We'll skip the details I think, Chris. No offence and fair play to you, that must have been a messed up situation.}

Fair enough Ed, on reflection you were correct

{Ed007's Note - (yes)
