Hey fellow tims
Just wanting some thoughts on where our future model should be heading regards transfers/ wages etc?
With Jota set to jump for $$$ and the serious money that we will have at our disposal from his and other transfers to come on top of CL money and cash we are already sitting on.

I'd love to see us go for a mixture of players with vast experience of playing across the continent and our current model of tapping into asian/ African market.
Players with vast experience on big wages that are free or low transfer fees would definitely give us much needed experience in europe.
Dembele (unlikely as rogers manager)
Firmino (free)
Icardi (free to leave psg scored for fun in turkey last season)
Elyounoussi (free)
Insigne from Montreal (vastly experience, still decent age)
Dele alli (this one won't sit with everyone as he's really struggled last few years but no doubting he had serious qualities and still realtively young.
Is it lack of confidence or bad attitude? Wouldn't cost much if anything)
Tierney (worth taking back if arsenal cover most of his wages)

That's serious experience what I've mentioned and wages would be likely be astronomical. Jotas fee would go a long way covering them for a couple of seasons.

With other money I'd like to break our transfer record on a potentially world class cb to partner ccv and dmf.
How much would Harwood bellis of mancity cost?
Arnau martinez from gijon (one of the best young players in LA liga)
Scalivini from atalanta?
Are these players out of our price range?

If spurs want hatate/ oreilly or what ever cash + matar sarr?

Then to keep our model of unearthing unknown gems from Asia and lesser leagues in europe. MLS is beaming with young talent.
Jesus ferreira
Caleb wiley
Celenteno
To name a few

It may seem I've been on fm too much but if the money being spouted that we are reportedly set to spend what is the best way to spend it to progress us in europe?

Thanks for the read.

Howdy DT

Recruitment over the last two years has been excellent but we’re just about to find out how much that was attributable to the previous manager which I think the answer could be quite a bit. What’s worrying me is prior to that it wasn’t that we didn’t spend money it was the fact that we didn’t spend it wisely unearthing 1 gem for every 5 donkeys on average if not worse.

It’s concerning too that the team can unravel as quickly we need more stability than is the case with players leaving every two years. It doesn’t help when the manager walks out either that’s where a DOF would provide continuity and a degree of stability if recruitment for example wasn’t the sole remit of the manager although he might have a say. Was Rodgers record signing players that great although we know there was interference with players signed he didn’t want? The last thing we need here is wasting millions rebuilding a team.

In terms of what we need we definitely need experience you can’t fill a team with projects and it’s two young lads we’ve brought in so far the Australian laddie and the Norwegian albeit they seem good signings.

Position wise the one thing we need I agree which the previous manager didn’t think we needed is a ball winner in the middle of the park that gives us a bit of dig to stop us being bullied in midfield. I wouldn’t argue either that we could do with a quality commanding centre half that can put his head on a ball at both ends of the park. I’d also like to see us burst the bank for an experienced recognised striker. I think Oh will come good he’s young and raw but we’ve been weaker since GGs departure for me. He was a proven goal scorer. If we lose Jota and Abada we’ll need width on the right. Joe Hart has been fantastic since he arrived at the club and for me we wouldn’t have won the league the first season without him but he needs competition so realistically we need to be looking at a new quality goalkeeper as well. In Europe when our backs are to the wall we need a quality shot stopper first and foremost without looking for a keeper that can play centre half which was Rodgers bag the first time.

Anyway how’s things over in the town I love so well?

Elyounoussi would be a good signing.

Proper centre back to parterre ccv a lb a cdm but with size and strength a new star winger to replace jota if he goes and another striker but with size to hold up the ball something different to what we have.

One player no one mentions is Iwata. is he not supposed to be the ball winner in midfield we all want? Is he forgotten already or written off? I thought he showed up well and hoping he gets a chance to be the player we all want in the team.

CG89 - I was hoping Iwata would add bite and skill to our midfield, and he is good, but not in the Broony mould that I feel we need to really dominate.

Reading the above, particularly JFP re goalkeeper, I find myself wondering what happened to Seighurst. I thought he was fantastic with Dundee U. Whatever happened? Does anybody know? Might he get a another chance under BR?
