Alright guys, my first post but I've been following the site for ages. I was pleased to hear Rodgers praising McGregor and touting him for a place in the national squad, as I've always thought he has good potential, and uses the ball well in the middle of the park. Still only 23, if he keeps making progress and becomes more clinical attacking the final third, next season he could become a more important player the way Armstrong has this season. Rodgers seems to rate him. Have seven Celtic players ever started for a Scotland team before?

{Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site mate, it's always nice to see new posters. I've been saying mostly the same as you about McGregor, I've never understood the stick he takes by some of the fans. He would walk into any other team in Scotland so I'm happy to see him playing in the league and cups for us, he can play in a number of positions and you know he'll give you 100% no matter where he plays. Who knows how good he could be if he kicks-on like Armstrong has.
He's also part of that wee group of quality young Scottish players (and Paddy hopefully) we've got which can only help breed a strong camaraderie in the squad.}

Cheers Ed, it was Rodgers comment about his attitude never wavering that stood out to me. It's a good trait to have. As for paddy, he seems to have bonded with that group like you say, and I think he personaly would like to be here for another season at least, but whether his agent and those advising him see it the same way is another matter. Hopefully though, because he is another who I think could be even better next season if he does hang around.

he should sign permenently for celtic, what's the alternative? going back down south and getting loaned out to preston or a team of that ilk? or play CL football at a massive club like celtic?

I agree with all comments in this thread. McGregor is improving and can only get better with more game time. As for Roberts? All he has to do is talk to Scott Sinclair about Man City's depth of playing squad and below. I fear he would get lost in that malaise and end up at some championship team in a couple of years with anonymity.

And welcome to the group, isleofgreen.
