I have family member who played in the first team.

A big, commanding centre back will be announced on Monday or Tuesday. Boyata gone before he end of the window to a lower premiership club. £3.5 million for Boyata.

According to my source it is good business.

Sorry, but I can say no more or the source will dry up.

I do hope you are correct however i doubt it.

2.) 09 Jan 2019 15:11:50
Hope so mate ignore any negative comments. It's a rumour page. HH.

3.) 09 Jan 2019 16:14:47
Anyone heard of the player at Portsmouth and also Connor Roberts at Swansea. Or is that hit seeking sites at their best.

4.) 10 Jan 2019 00:13:07
I hope your right mate, genuinely can’t see why anyone would pay £3.5m for Boyata though when they can get him for free in 6 months.
If a deal is to be done with him it will be on a pre contract 1st then for nominal fee around £1m I’d imagine.

5.) 10 Jan 2019 06:05:41
@GGGG perhaps a team might want him now? There's a thought. Also, remember Stuart Armstrong.

6.) 10 Jan 2019 08:04:26
That's is a nominal fee for someone who is a regular in one of the best national teams in the world.

I think that has been a bit too much of rising to the bait re the Turnbull situation.

In my opinion, we scored an OG with the poor Twitter post. That was a bad mistake and we should not have spat the dummy in public.

I get the bit about keeping fans informed but in this case, it has been counterproductive.

What do you guys think?

thoybhoy

1.) 16 Jun 2019 10:48:59
I think the deal is dead and that's why we made the statement, well I hope so anyway.

2.) 16 Jun 2019 11:05:28
@thoybhoy. Find it strange we came out with that statement. He’s not the first and won’t be the last player that’s knocked us back asking for more money. I’m assuming the club felt it was the right decision at the time.
Still totally unexpected.

3.) 16 Jun 2019 11:13:12
There was no need to put it out on twitter, or to put any kind of statement out anywhere, until everything was done and dusted, one way or the other.

4.) 16 Jun 2019 14:14:59
If course the Club had to put a statement out or you would all be saying “why hasn’t he signed “ and “we probably only offered him £4K a week”. It’s a good deal for a 19 year old who has only played 30 or so games. Take it or leave it David. Hail Hail.

5.) 16 Jun 2019 14:22:50
I think the club felt the agent was the one delaying the move as he was the sole representative while Turnbull was on holiday. Think the post was aimed at Turnbull to get his attention that the agent was potentially sabotaging the deal.

6.) 16 Jun 2019 14:25:16
imo he did it this way to show he is doing all he can and not like the mcginn episode where he was ridiculed for his efforts.

7.) 16 Jun 2019 14:47:29
They had to come out with the statement because if they didn't the fans would have been ready to march on park head with burning torches.

8.) 16 Jun 2019 16:09:42
Totally agree kev it was a deflection tactic taking the responsibility away from lawell who would have been blamed by us fans.

9.) 16 Jun 2019 17:10:56
I wouldn't call it a deflection tactic.
I think it had to be done because the way the fans are right now.
Some fans will blame lawwell if they get a dose of squirts fae a dodgy curry right now.
Calming the hysteria that would have erupted was the correct thing to do.

10.) 16 Jun 2019 18:19:33
Celtic were 100% correct to issue the statement they did regarding the turnbull situation. Celtic fans ( and I include myself in this) are notorious in slaughtering the board and lawwell ( some of it warranted) over the years. If say Celtic hadn’t issued the statement and the rags made out the deal fell through the vast majority of fans would have slaughtered lawwell for the old biscuit tin mentality. Absolutely no way she the club bow to this agents demands. Had the lad had 2/ 3 full seasons behind him then there’s room to haggle but 1 full season?

11.) 16 Jun 2019 20:10:14
The statement was the right thing to do.

12.) 16 Jun 2019 21:21:20
The statement was the wrong thing to do, the boy was still on holiday, that could have been used to explain the delay,

13.) 16 Jun 2019 21:57:52
What does turnbull being on holiday have anything to do with it? Bottom line is the initial offer was turned down and it would have been made known to the press for them then to fabricate a story to make Celtic look the villains of the piece. Celtic nullified that by getting they’re version of events in first. Put it this way aindoh, since Celtic released that statement, have turnbull or his representatives came out and slammed it or came out with their own version on what happened? That tells a story for me.

14.) 16 Jun 2019 23:49:37
It wouldn't have mattered, how would Celtic be the villains in the piece?, it would still have been the same story, it just wouldn't have Celtic that were making it public, when it became public, the board or whoever went onto twitter, could have put the facts in the public domain, I say again, what was the point of putting a statement out on twitter?, like I said, the boys on holiday, all the questions on here about why is it taking so long, could have been brushed aside with a "the boys on holiday", negotiations could still have been going on, things that were said in the heat of the moment, might have been thought over, and a phone call might have resuccitated the deal, but now that it's all out in the open it makes things more difficult, I say again what was the point of that twitter statement?

Chris

It is all a question of balance.

I personally think that now is the time to open the coffers and secure title number 8 as it is not a foregone conclusion after dropping 6 points on the 29th.

With our wage bill, I would not want to miss out on Champions League money.

Trouble is, we have journeymen on lucrative contracts and the board do not support Brendan's judgement on the transfer market.

thoybhoy

1.) 09 Jan 2019 08:15:10
The board don't support his judgement.
It was Rogers that wanted compper, Hendry, Hayes, Musonda, gamboa but to name a few.
One of the biggest nonsense statements from celtic fans is that Rogers hasn't been backed.

2.) 09 Jan 2019 08:21:38
Dropped 6 points on the 29th?
And do you know someone personally on the board that told you they don't trust Brendan's judgement?
Maybe it's the same person that told that fat prick Boyd there is a split in the dressing room.

3.) 09 Jan 2019 11:41:54
Every manager makes a poor signings oneil signed Douglas Strahan signed Killen the list goes on Brendan has done well with the players that were here ie Forrest and brown and made them better.

4.) 09 Jan 2019 12:23:20
Mally Douglas wasn't as bad as made out to be.

5.) 09 Jan 2019 13:27:56
The point he made was we could (should) have been 6 points clear instead of level - not to mention the team selection and tactics were questionable to say the least once again away from home.
The manager has been backed since day-one going back to the initial signings of Dembele, Sinclair and Toure. However this was followed by De Vries, Gamboa and Eboue (in no particular order) and a good few mediocre to poor choices with only maybe Ntcham and Edouarde standing out from the rest; although one or two are still relatively untested or have been brought in for the future.

Before this window he had brought in 17 or so players, many of who are possibly on their way out the door in one way or another.
The current window shows caution and wisdom - so far - regards cash spent as it's certainly not the best time of year for choice and quality available and to be honest we still have a pretty decent squad to handle domestic fixtures (as long as we turn up and don't tamper with formation or have more injury problems) .
Obviously we have some uncertainty and question marks in defense and it seems we are pursuing options in this window so all-in-all we should end the break in better shape and hopefully with a handful of passengers off the wage-bill?

6.) 09 Jan 2019 13:31:12
The six points drop is a figure of speech. If we had won, we would be six points clear, rather than level.

Admitted that the board has backed the manager in the past, but if you remember the last transfer window and the McGinn situation, Brendan made strong hints about the clubs lack of ambition on the transfer market.

I have no inside board knowledge, but I strongly suspect that there is a bit of displeasure within the club with regard to Brendan's transfer record.

Only my opinion.

7.) 09 Jan 2019 13:41:42
I think if you actually read what McGinn says is that he chose to go down there as he was guaranteed first team football and has nothing to do with the board.

8.) 09 Jan 2019 13:44:08
Imo he was prone to too many howlers kev and his biggest was Seville unfortunately I just think we've had better keepers.

9.) 09 Jan 2019 15:49:35
You’re correct about Seville Mally but if you watch the away game against Boavista, you’ll see that we wouldn’t have been in the final without big Rab.

10.) 09 Jan 2019 16:15:36
There is no hiding the fact that he did make blunders but not as many as a lot of our fans make out.
In the run to Seville he had some wonderful game. Vs both Liverpool and boavista he made some out of this world saves.

11.) 10 Jan 2019 15:13:21
Rab the crab was awrite, he did pull off some worldies, still say if we had boruc in that team the uefa cup would be sitting in the big ones shadow in paradise.

The Zombies had two on trial. The other one is in Benidorm or Tenerife or whatever with the new senior citizens, so this one must be a reject.

Wonder if they have been to see Sticky Vicky after a day of crazy golf, full English breakfast and happy hour?

I like the idea of the B team being involved and reckon it would do a lot for developing our young players.

Also would bring additional income to the club.

That mob have a clear agenda against the SPFL, so why does he remain on board?

When I said he should do the honourable thing, I admit I was being a bit stupid as Sevco and honour are not generally used in the same sentence.

More than just a hint of hypocrisy with Robertson.

He despises the organisation so should do the honourable thing and resign.
