Well that was disappointing. Overall i thought we were good, at times very good, and in control almost completely. The sending off changed thins obvs, but that's what you get when you put square pegs in round holes. I don't blame Biton entirely, he's not a CB, a decent stand in, but no quality CB. Duffy was brought here to rectify this. lennon wanted him. As he did with Ajeti, another who is close to being a perma sub.

As usual we had to deal with some strange decisions from Madden, was the sending off a CLEAR goal scoring position? look pretty wide and Ajer coming across fast, i don't know, but you knew he was giving it. Rather like you knew moreless, what a petulant little 5hit he is, would escape a very late drag on an ankle. again. Every 50-50,every contact seemed to go to them. Again like all season. So are we writing it off? If we do it must be time for a drastic change.

I don't like booting Lennon, but it is time to freshen the whole club, from the VERY top. A clear out and find a coach with a record of improving things and players. Start playing our younger players, Henderson for me should always be in the squad, if the leagues gone, it's gone. Time to plan ahead as i truly believe we have the talent. Turnbull and Soro's game time until recently prove Lennon it's not that coach.

Player wise there is cash to be made. Christie has flattered to deceive for months, Olly has been off it for months, and Ajer looks like he might be heading out. Combined that's got to be around, even given the position the game finds its self in,35m. Plenty there for a total rebuild. The issue with that is our scouting. It has been poor for three years. Another overhaul there for sure. And look out for McGregor poss going, and you heard it here first, Aston Villa really fancy him for 15m, will he wait for rodgers? And this our probable new Captain.

So, feck it. We will probably have to take a sore one shortly losing the ten, let's not waste the chance and stagnate into the season end. get the youngsters in, be clever in the transfer market, i would think the boy Campbell at Motherwell should be bought, and if we need to spend big do it. Were not dead guys, just outa breath.

Besides, five Scottish Cups in a row has a ring to it.

Biton showed why he should never be played at cb completely amateur defending. Cannot believe that mob are 19 point ahead they will be the worst team to win the league in 40 years.

I think the time for a change is now if lennon is a celtic man he will resign (he wont) . Id sell edouard this month too, he's clearly not interested and is nowhere near as good as he or some other think he is. We showed yesterday we are the best team in Scotland and it is truly a disgrace they are anyway near us. Its not over until its mathematically impossible for us to catch them but yesterday was a massive loss and as i said a change has too happen.

In Brendan Rodgers first season he played Bitton in midfield.
At the start of season 2017/ 18
Brendan started playing Bitton at CB.
His first start at CB was away to Astana when we lost 4-3.
After winning the 1st leg 5-0 he probably thought it was safe to try Bitton at CB.
It looked dodgy when Celtic were losing 4-1 with 30 minutes to go.
Bitton played about a dozen games at CB before he received a bad injury which kept him out for a year.
Incidentally the first 90 minutes Bitton played in 14 months was in Lenny’s first game in charge away to Hearts when Eddy scored an injury time winner.

Happy new year to all you guys, especially Ed who keeps this up and running. cheers Mate. Been a rubbishty year personally, and for everyone else obvs, but we move on starting today!

I think Gerrard will play Roofe AND Itten, i would and hit long diagonals to the back post to pin us in on a second ball, so we need bodies to defend this. Rumour seems to be El Hamedi in at RB, which if he is match sharp would be a decent call given his height. Today, against barasic, Frimpong would be bullied and exposed and i would not start him even if EH does not make it.

I believe if we are on it, and the concentration levels are there we can win this, but we need to defend as hitting on the break is their game, and to be fair they are on it when the chance comes up, so we do not need FB's chasing up the pitch, not together anyway. Sit in tight and use quick sharp passing to get us out, if we break their lines with two up we can catch them, but the passing needs to be quick and accurate.

Broony? For me, for this particular game, play him with Soro, let the wee man be his legs and Broony can sit just in front of the defence. Massive call for Lennon as it would probably mean one up.

Okay, there might be a bit of brightness after the weekend. Forced myself to watch the game again, well selected bits i mean c'mon, and some things the media may have missed in promoting sevco to the status of PSG or Real.

We were poor, properly bad. But did they cut us to ribbons? Did they score five? Was Barkas diving everywhere blocking shots? NO to them all. The two goals were the same old story in big games now, switching off and not clearing your lines. Yes, they were more fluent and passed and moved well. They were organised, no surprise with the consistency of selection they have, and they defend, properly defend.

But two goals against a team with so many players out through various reasons is hardly a tanking. Sadly this makes it more irritating that we seemed timid and slow. So in conclusion, win the game in hand and be one behind, knowing we cannot be as bad again. Over to you Lenny.

A concern of mine green Jedi, would be we haven’t looked up for these games for the last 3/ 4 and have in all honesty been second best in all of them, even though we have sneaked the odd result against them.

2.) 19 Oct 2020 18:51:01
I agree we were not 'hammered' or given a lesson - and at 1-0, I thought we could have got back into the game easily. However, the players didn't seem in the same frame of mind as myself and the effort and fight was sadly missing as we failed to compete again.
One bad performance is understandable, but to be honest, we have hardly seen the best of Celtic all season for one reason or another and it's worrying that we are not only so flat, but they have the beating of us at Celtic Park because they want it more than us.
Zero shots on target is atrocious for a Celtic team - against any team; far less in that game.

3.) 19 Oct 2020 18:54:59
To me the biggest factor is we didn't even have a shot on target through the whole game at we were at home. We were owned, they destroyed us because they wanted it more, I think lennon has met his match and doesn't know how to beat Gerrard. It's not like it's the only game they have owned us the last few games. Our players don't seem to have the passion of theirs in these games they always seem right up for it and we don't look interested there is only so many times lennon can be forgiven. But it's getting worse now and something or somebody has to change. We pay there wages and they should be going all out to atleast try and win the game. That game was pathetic and its starting to be they way we are more and more it's becoming the norm. It has to stop or lennon has to go.

4.) 19 Oct 2020 19:59:06
Greenjhedi . sevco didn't exactly need to stretch themselves either. hence 2-0?

5.) 19 Oct 2020 20:21:18
Sorry jhedi but they have 2 blocked on the line due to players diving to prevent more goal. That's the reason it wasn't 4 or 5. Plus barkas wasn't blocking shot. It went under his arms for the first goal.

{Ed007's Note - If Ajer or Duffy had scored their first goal would you say McGregor should have saved it? Barkas maybe should have done better but the defenders should have dealt with it first.}

6.) 19 Oct 2020 20:39:37
attitude they have got and bought players with the right attitude where we have a lot of cry babies and huffy french fancy's.

7.) 19 Oct 2020 20:56:40
For me it’s simply shocking that we have allowed Sevco to even compete against us never mind outplay us as they have done in 4 games now.

It’s obvious to most something isn’t right and let’s be honest Lennon has previous with fallouts - he did comment on players wanting out only to backtrack days later - if he hasn’t lost the dressing room then there must be issues amongst the players.

Either way something needs changed soon before it’s too late. I can’t see another Sevco collapse and feel we must win the 3 remaining games against them if we are to win this league.

Hello all. Thought a post regarding tomorrow might be in order. Firstly this is a massive game for Lennon and that's where my worries lie. He has to tinker with our shape, and steer clear of three at the back, to get on the front foot from minute one. Will he, who knows but i think he will stay with it, and this allows them to get up the pitch quickly, and to be fair they use it well.

I would stick a nice tight 442 in amongst them. This would ensure anytime their FB'S tried to move forward one of the front two can pull across and move a CB. and none of theirs will fancy that. If we get it right we can have them putting crosses in from deeper, much easier to defend.

No point really naming a team till we have some idea who is available, but for me Polish Paddy must start. He's quick and sharp, also on evidence seen is now as strong as a bull. He could rattle them by bursting wide to a longer through ball behind their FB's, He's also a wild card as they have never faced them. Worth a punt for me.

Since they clawed their sorry asses outa the grave they have been waiting for this, signs of us faltering. Almost every game they fancy it, nothing won bar a few battles. This team need to produce, i don't care what anyone says, we have not been performing. Win tomorrow and normal service can be resumed, but we need to be on it from the whistle.

Finally brother beaton. As we seen in the ibrox game, where moreorless was allowed to kick, punch and actually walk across Ralstons back, he will give them every opportunity to pressure us. So let's be cute and not dive in. We have better players, and we are winners. prove it tomorrow.

1.) 16 Oct 2020 10:35:09
Dont think 442 would work mate. Last 2 games they over ran us in midfield. They would have 3 and we only 2 if we play that way. Bound to be over run.
3 5 2 griff eddy up top. Laxalt for taylor.

2.) 16 Oct 2020 11:14:57
Raymundo I would go 3-5-2 as well but I reckon he will go 4-5-1. They will be playing 4-3-4 with Beaton up front, so having 4 at the back keeps an eye on him lol.

3.) 16 Oct 2020 11:27:05
Our initial formation is not the be all and end all . It is how we adopt to nullify any threat that arises and to create opportunities and chances up front . Mistakes must be kept to a minimum with colleagues sniffing out danger before a mistake becomes a disaster. . As long as our players keep remembering they are better than the Rangers2012 players and as long as we make them feel their inferiority, we should be all right . Nerve wrecking, hard to watch at times, but that’s nothing new.

4.) 16 Oct 2020 12:11:44
ha ha Green Jhedi "the third" what did you do with 1 and 2 lol good to see you posting again.
As for tomorrow, our bench will be as important as our starting eleven, with French Eddie, Griff and Ajeti (if he makes bench) all lacking fitness or game time.
Klimala has been playing regularly, so I would start with him as his speed will be an asset. McGregor and Brown will need to put in a shift.
But we have better players, so Lennon should just say, go out and prove it and dominate game.
As for Beaton, make him impotent by not giving him any decisions to make, although I worry he will target Brown and try and send him off, but world will be watching and anything too obvious will be highlighted and embarrass him.

5.) 16 Oct 2020 12:13:15
They also rely on their full backs for width and I think it will go down to how we compete and win a lot of 'personal battles'. Taylor v Tavernier and Frimpong/ Barisic will be defining areas as will the middle of the park - obviously.
Been watching some of Eddy's first games against them and I hope he can recover that same mobility and confidence as they really fear him Griff, Ajeti and Paddy would also run riot on a good day, so at the end of the day; score more than them and we beat them and Beaton.

6.) 16 Oct 2020 12:15:31
4231 and press them from the start because they will try and press us.

Barkas

Ajer Jullien Duffy Laxalt

Brown McGregor

Frimpong Rogic Elyounoussi

Griffiths.

7.) 16 Oct 2020 12:31:53
We have to show more desire to win the match, everyone has to win their personal battles all over the pitch. It has now got to the point that just having better players doesn't get you the win in this match, they have improved and have been showing more desire and will to win in the last few matches hence the reason they have been getting decent results against us.
Everyone wins their personal battle and then the cream can rise to the top.

Hello folks, nice to see the mess we are in after my hiatus. ED, i hope your well mate and the knee issues are good.
How did we get into this mess? Rodgers has to be number one on any list, a treacherous act that made us all look like fools. Lawwell must be next, knew Rodgers was angling for the off, which by the way explains our poor performances prior to him leaving, and should have been approaching top managers. Finally, and of the three you expect more from this guy, is Dermot Desmond.

Desmond it seems, and it seems obvious, has allowed Lawell to completely run the show, this should never be on. He's a bean counter, a very good one to be fair as his wages show, but that's all. There should be no interfering or indeed requests for his help from or in the playing side.

Since we failed, for the second time, to turn up at ibrokes we have handed the momentum over to gerrard. Money is coming from somewhere but he has used it well and added plenty to a team who beat us twice last season. We on the other hand have regressed. Something needs done and quickly.

On Lenny, it's tough but he will not cut it. We are in a run of four tough games, maybe even season defining as bizarre as that seems. Right now, after yesterday, would you fancy us to beat anyone? Any team with some patience and pace will hurt us, they know a chance will come. We don't have the players, bar a few, who can play deep and draw teams in, so we have to push up. Shape and tactically we are poor in my opinion.

The thing is we have the players. they need utilised properly.

greenjhedi..thethird

{Ed007's Note - I'm good man thanks for for asking, just guddling by as per. It's nice to hear from you mate 👍

1.) 18 Aug 2019 23:49:27
What if you looked at it another way, familiarity breeds contempt, the invincible years, the players start to think they are unbeatable, it's a phycological thing, I think Brendan must be praised for those invincible years, but he wasn't capable of keeping the oomph in the players, the hunger had been sated, they just want to turn up and win, it was the right for him to go, I don't think you can blame Desmond and Peter, too much, Lenny was available, he was an obvious choice for manager, I know there is a big anti Lennon support, I wasn't one, but after the cludj game, I am, but I don't get the anti Lawwell stuff, I think he has done brilliant, this is Scotland, unless you want to go back to the cheating ways of David Murray and the old Rangers, there is no way you can compete with the obscene wages that are on offer in England, we will just have to make the best of a bad deal, in this I am not excusing Lenny, he has made some idiotic team selections and tactics, and someone, higher up, needs to have s word in his ear,

2.) 18 Aug 2019 23:55:51
Greenjhedi I don't think Desmond is interested anymore. I seriously think in my opinion club is up for grabs. Well publicised accounts that we are turning a good profit added to planning permission granted for hotel adds more value.

Something doesn't add up.

3.) 19 Aug 2019 07:47:48
Desmond takes more out of Celtic than he puts in.

4.) 19 Aug 2019 09:56:06
i know this goes into realms of conspiracy theories but I've had a nagging doubt for years. Are we being tethered a little for commercial reasons, as in trying to keep Scottish football "competitive". After they went to the wall even average year on year improvements would have taken us out of sight but we seem happy to just do enough to be in front.

When you look at Res 20 and all the other corruption between the football authorities and secco, there is more than enough factual, documented evidence to take any legal direction through criminal, or civil action or even sport arbitration. Can't help feeling another agenda is in play. How can we as a club be so professional as a business but on the football side be worse than rank amateurs. Yep something doesn't add up.

5.) 19 Aug 2019 10:16:08
@GJ good to hear from you again, and talking sense as usual.
Good summing up, I think it is time for Desmond to sell up and let our club move on with a new more involved owner.

Lawwell? he has been at club what 14 years now? he is approaching 60 soon and he said publicly he would retire at that age I hope he keeps his word, those two moving on would reinvigorate our club.
Lennon? too old fashioned in his ways and poor tactically, sadly his time has come and gone.

Gerrard's sevco? all bluster and boasting so far, they have not proven anything yet, let us wait and see how next few games pan out, I have a feeling they will fall short again.
Where I am more confident on, is our players like Brown, Christie, McGregor, Forrest, French Eddie and wee Griffiths I trust them to do things right despite of poor tactics from Lennon.

6.) 19 Aug 2019 09:08:12
I know they say be careful what you wish for; but I would be happy to see DD and Co sell and make way for someone with a fresh perspective and most of all ambition and foresight.
We are treading water at present while less wealthy and smaller clubs all over Europe are overtaking us in terms of team building, tactics and economics in the way they run their clubs and compete.

Obviously we are still the top-dogs in this country, but even that is being questioned by our own support because of the repetition of the same old mistakes and the near-incompetence in transfer activity, not to mention a new-found consistency and confidence from TRIFC 2012.

7.) 19 Aug 2019 10:44:53
I think its 16 years he has been at Celtic and Lawwell turned 60 the day after the treble treble. Some say the Lennon announcement came straight after the cup final because Lawwell was going on holiday to celebrate his 60th.

8.) 19 Aug 2019 18:15:42
Lawell Out. Will be the best Christmas present ever. Lenny can go too, he just hasn’t got it. Shouting and balling? Hasn’t a feckin clue.
