Apparently we've knocked out a 3m bid for CG from Chelsea.

Tick67

1.) 26 Jan 2017 16:26:35
Aye, stick a '1' in front of that Roman 😆

2.) 26 Jan 2017 16:38:25
I thought 3m was a cracking price for him.

3.) 26 Jan 2017 17:01:56
Really? And who do you think we could replace him with for that 3M

4.) 26 Jan 2017 17:16:38
marshall.

5.) 26 Jan 2017 17:50:45
£3 million is a decent bid for a 34 year old who we paid nothing for.

As long as he is replaced I would take it.

6.) 26 Jan 2017 18:07:44
I would be hoping to invest a lot more than 3m in a gk.

7.) 26 Jan 2017 18:14:09
When we sold wanyama I ďont remember another 12m player coming in.

Don't remember the van Dyke money being invested in a 10m player either.

There's no way br isn't looking at another GK it wasn't that long ago he dropped CG and only put him back into the team as he's the best we've got which isn't a compliment.

Strange point shug

8.) 26 Jan 2017 18:44:31
The fact is if Chelsea want him we should be asking for at least double or treble that.

9.) 26 Jan 2017 19:10:32
Give them Devries - plus £3m

10.) 26 Jan 2017 19:11:54
Tick

A lot more than £3 million for a new keeper? We haven't spent over £3 million on any player since BR came in and we probably won't any time soon.

Remember that we picked up Forster for £2 million so there are bargains out there.

{Ed007's Note - We had loan fees to pay for Forster which were about £750k a season if I remember right, Niall.}

11.) 26 Jan 2017 19:19:53
On what basis would be asking for double or treble 3m?

That's almost as rediculous as 6m for mckay, not quite tho but up there.

12.) 26 Jan 2017 19:35:34
Do you really think we would knock back 3 million I don't I think the player ain't interested in going to sit in a bench

13.) 26 Jan 2017 20:12:06
The cost of the player is irrelevant to me personally niall.

The point I was trying to make tho is we need to be serious about signing a good keeper and if that means spending then we should at least be willing to do so.

14.) 26 Jan 2017 21:57:19
Tick. Hows it a strange point. CG although not be the CL standard we want is worth more to us to keep than letting go for 3m. For us to replace him with equal or better would cost us quite a bit more than 3m. Probably double that. So i ask again. Who would you replace him with given BR is looking at other areas to spend on.

15.) 26 Jan 2017 22:15:16
We've sold numerous players over the years and not replaced them with the same transfer fee hence me not understanding your point.

I don't know any available keepers within our budget shug but that doesn't concern me as I hadn't heard of boruc or forster and they done alright. I guess that's why we employ scouts tho.

I would also find it odd if BR wasn't looking at a gk, right now maybe not the timing isn't right but it was only a short time ago CG was dropped by BR and only reinstated coz de vries isn't up to it.

16.) 26 Jan 2017 23:58:39
I think CG will look at it from the point of view that he's winning trophies where he is, playing quite well overall (with the occasional boo boo) and getting a game every week. I'm sure he'll also remember that 3 years ago he was on the verge of looking for a job away from football so hopefully he'll not declare an interest in moving to Chelsea to be a tea boy. On the other hand he might think, "Stuff this, I'll go where the biggest pay cheque is. " lol HH

16 Jan 2017 21:34:42
So the daily ranger is reporting that man utd are preparing a 10m bid for tierney.

My question would be when are they buying the rest of him?

His right leg is worth that alone. Usual rag trying to destabilise our player's.

COYBIG

Tick67

1.) 16 Jan 2017 22:14:37
If his right leg worth 10 wots his left worth. Say 15-20 HH

2.) 16 Jan 2017 22:57:42
I would settle for Luke Shaw and £10m

3.) 16 Jan 2017 23:37:18
Luke Shaw, overrated over valued, the worst piece of business since Fergie gave Rooney a ridiculous contract when he was threatening to leave

4.) 16 Jan 2017 23:47:30
what game do they want him for?

5.) 17 Jan 2017 07:21:33
Ill take 100m for KT and Dembelle, at a push

6.) 17 Jan 2017 15:34:23
Panto seasons over shug

7.) 18 Jan 2017 07:33:26
OH NO ITS NOT

8.) 18 Jan 2017 19:06:42
oh yes it is.

9.) 19 Jan 2017 22:54:10
etc etc

19 Dec 2016 20:37:30
News floating around that we are going to give some youngsters a game tomorrow against Partick.

I would like to see Ralston, ajer and aitchison given the nod.
They all look capable of stepping up and we're in a good position to play them.

HH.

Tick67

1.) 19 Dec 2016 21:36:43
Partick looked very fluid quick and effective against hearts on Saturday and so I'd be more cautious.

2.) 19 Dec 2016 23:05:51
Think the quicker we get the league wrapped up the quicker we will see these sort of players. Hope to see this team tomorrow:

Gordon
Lustig - O'Connell - Toure - Izzy
Brown - Henderson
Roberts - Armstrong - Christie
Griffiths

Get Sinclair another 30mins and GMS and 2nd half run out. Anyone know why O'Connell has totally disappeared from the team? He done okay considering the pressure of the games at the start of the season.

3.) 20 Dec 2016 08:17:52
Ralston would be a better bet than Gamboa who although lightning fast cannot defend but ad be careful here as to many changes might dent our undefeated run.

4.) 20 Dec 2016 10:28:52
I'd gladly give youngsters a run knowing it might stop our unbeaten run. To go the season with such a margin and not try and develop our youths into first teamers would just be wrong. When would we get a better chance?

5.) 20 Dec 2016 11:57:51
Calvin Miller is starting tonight put money n him scoring Bhoys.

6.) 20 Dec 2016 11:58:19
Think there's enough players in the first team squad due a game first. oconnel Christie toure henderson Griffiths just back, gms needs games as well although not a huge fan sinclair i think needs a game so maybe there'll be one or two kids on bench at best.

7.) 20 Dec 2016 11:58:34
Calvin Miller Starting tonight - get money on him scoring.

8.) 20 Dec 2016 14:38:32
Talk is brendan wants to see miller play wing back.

9.) 20 Dec 2016 16:50:41
Calvin is left wing back tonight so maybe hang off with the bet the odds are rubbish anyway bhoys!

16 Dec 2016 13:38:23
Alright ed, just wondering if you know if the Simo rumours to torino have any foundation's?

I get why they would be back in for him because he's been great but I'm curious as to why we would even consider selling and the price still seems to be 3.5m.

I would also be suprised we would deal with torino again after the last fiasco.

Tick67

16 Dec 2016 09:41:18
Alright ed, any truth in the Simo rumours with torino?
I'm not suprised they are looking at him again as he's sailed through games but I'd be suprised if we were to deal with torino again after the last fiasco.

Also the fee seems to still be 3.5m, does he have a release clause?

Tick67

{Ed007's Note - This is a horribly complex area not least because they are written under individual national laws.

The "buy out" clause is legally binding between a club and a player. The "buy out" is effectively what it says - a means for the player to buy himself out of the contract. As an example, if a player wishes to buy himself out of a contract, he pays the applicable FA (on behalf of the club) the amount of the "buy out" clause effectively becoming a free agent. The problem is that in most cases a player would need to obtain that money from the buying club - and this is fraught with issues regarding "tapping up" and, of course, taxation as it can be seen as income for the player and would therefore be subject to income tax. There was a test case about the taxation issue in Spain about three years ago. So "buy out" clauses are very rare.

A "release clause" is far more common in that it gives a figure that the club would accept for the sale of a player to another club - but it is not legally binding except where both parties are in the same country (for the sake of argument I should say that Spain and Portugal count as the same country as do England and Wales) for legal purposes. These are normally unreasonably high figures (Messi at Barcelona for example) introduced to act as a deterrent for hostile bids - and even then the club could easily block a move. However, if a club does agree to match a release clause then the selling club would be obliged to ask the player if he is interested - there is no obligation on the player to make a move. For interested clubs outside of the country the selling club may use it as a guide but are under obligation to accept a bid.

There is then the becoming popular "termination clause" which is binding between the player and the club and if met would see an offer from anywhere accepted and the player given the opportunity to make a call on a move. This overcomes the issues associated with "buy out" clauses as the money would be paid by one club to another.

So to break it down, if Jozo has a £3.5 milion release clause it can only be triggered by a club under the SFA umbrella, the only country where it is legally binding.}

Congratulations to dembele for winning the Trophée de l'Espoir Français.

Also read his acceptance speech and i'm really impressed with this kids humility. I know they have to say a lot of these things but this kid seems to mean it and has a good head on his shoulders.

Other cynical side of things, that just added a couple of mil.

15 Dec 2016 17:24:33
Sorry bhoys not celtic related but had to mention rio ferdinand.

He's spent 500k on Christmas presents for underprivileged children through a charity.
He's also bought something like 500 sleeping bags for the homeless.

Always liked rio he seems a top block and i like to see these guys give something back, cracking gesture.

HH.

Tick67

1.) 15 Dec 2016 21:47:45
Fair play to Rio, I think more of the great number of players who give generously to good causes anonymously.

{Ed007's Note - Is that just players or do you think less of current Celtic managers who not only feel the need to tell people he's spending Christmas morning at a hospice with the sick and their families but also felt he had to announce that he donated the money from the sale of his departed parent's house to the same hospice?}

2.) 15 Dec 2016 22:24:43
If he's selling any of his 100+ rental homes, is there any chance he will donate to keep a roof over the poor and needy of Govan this Christmas?

3.) 15 Dec 2016 22:44:05
Anonymous or not its still giving back to those less fortunate and I would hope it would encourage more to do the same.

Heard a cracking story about LG last week when a young fan has asked for the same boots he wears from his dad for Christmas.
The dad sends LG a tweet asking where he can get them and LG quickfire tells him he will send him a signed pair.

That wean will never forget this Christmas and it's a long list of things LG does behind the scenes.

HH.

4.) 15 Dec 2016 23:04:50
Oldbhoy how do you know if there is a great number of players giving generously to good causes anonymously?

5.) 15 Dec 2016 23:16:19
No UJ, he only gives to good causes.

6.) 16 Dec 2016 07:38:34
Some choose to be vocal, others choose to be anonymous. Regardless of the motives, their humanity and kindness is essential in making a difference. Fair play to them all.

{Ed001's Note - in Rio's case, and I have to say I am not a fan of the lad usually, but he did this publicly in order to raise awareness of the need for people to get involved, rather than to get personal publicity.}

7.) 16 Dec 2016 08:44:52
Well said Ed. Ronaldo, Ferdy, big stars etc. First reaction might be. They can afford it and publicity seeking tits etc. But Ed, you hit the nail on the head. These players and many more already give to established charities and take part in fundraisers. However many times when it is done (as some say, a publicity stunt, its to make people aware and help. I and thousands more like me, give time and cash to charity. Would my picture in the media do much to raise awareness? Not really (unless I was doing something weird or crazy then it would be a short column filler) . So good on RF, BR and all the superstars etc doing something.

8.) 16 Dec 2016 09:38:56
Not sure I understood your reply ed007. Are you having a go at BR?

{Ed007's Note - No mate, not at all. It's the sheer hypocrisy of Chris' s reply to the OP. According to Chris he thinks more of people who give anonymously without seeking publicity and I just wanted to know if Brendan Rodgers hase gone down in his estimations after his recent publicity about helping at a hospice at Christmas or donating the proceeds of the sale of his mother and father's house to the hospice. Why did Rodgers need to tell us - to make sure there's plenty of photographs and camera
I don't see any difference in what Ferdinand has done, they're both doing a good thing yet getting treateed differently and I'm genuinelly interested in what Chris sees differently between what Ferdinand and Rodgers have done?
If Rio wants to spend 1/2 million quid on toys then he deserves all the plaudts going, how many kids does that make happy on Christmad morn and why should people like Chris look down in them on them as if it's a publicity stunt when he obvioulsy have no idea how tough it was growing up for Rio with not much yet Bredan is pushing for a Sainthood because he'll be visiting a hospice that he gave a lot of money to.
So what is the difference, Chris?}

9.) 16 Dec 2016 14:04:22
Ah OK cheers for that.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

10.) 16 Dec 2016 17:30:47
Ed . I have no problem in saying I cringe when I read what B R is doing on Christmas morning . In general he is too fond of telling us how great a person he is .
I am quite sure I couldn't stand the man as my best friend but at the end of the day that is totally irrelevant to me as I can never will be close friends .
I. like B R simply because he is a very good manager at Celtic and is doing a very good job, as long as he doesn't bring the club into disrepute and continues to manage us well, we will get on great.
Not living in the West of Scotland I haven't got to know managers well except Martin o 'Neil whom I have known I have known since the teenage years, I don't like him but it didn't stop me appreciating his success at Celtic.

{Ed007's Note - So why have a dig at Rio Ferdinand in the first place?}

11.) 16 Dec 2016 19:55:05
I can't understand Ed u seemed to want a reply and when I did u didn't print it .
Let me say I hate the way that B R let's it be known of his generousity in giving his parents house to charity . Also Christmas Morning visit to children's hospice .
I honesty think he goes over the top beyond common decency .
However my love and likeness for B R is to deal solely with his very good managing of Celtic . Winning leagues, doubles and trebles and having reasonable success with Celtic will maintain my love for him . Chasing women and having yellow teeth doesn't matter to me . Brendan& I will never be best mates, we operate. in different circles and as long as he doesn't bring the club into disrepute, I will like him.

{Ed007's Note - And what did Rio Ferdinand do wrong?}

12.) 16 Dec 2016 22:25:52
I think the point oldbhoy is its totally irrelevant giving to those less fortunate if it's done publicly or under the radar.

The green brigade do an annual food bank and without publicity it wouldn't be anywhere near the success that it is now.
It raises awareness mate that's all and if it encourages people to give back then there's no harm.

13.) 16 Dec 2016 23:54:31
For once Ed007 I just cannot believe why you ask me why I had a dig at Rio in the first place .
I made it absolutely clear that I hated the way B R made a show of him leaving the proceeds of his parents house to charity and making it known that he was visiting a Children's hospice on Christmas Day . I prefer acts of charity to be done privately without fuss, just like a certain Mr Lennon who used to be at Celtic .
I cannot understand either how some people seem to make their mind up whether they like a player or manager by things nothing to do with football ability or manage ring ability . I love B R as he is successful as our manager . I liked R D when he was Celtic manager too. I don't dislike Rio, but I didn't like the showing off of giving money to charity . Neither Brendan Rio Ronnie or Neil will care if I like them or not but the fact is I do .

{Ed007's Note - Neil Lennon done his charity work privately? That's just miles out, do you know how to use Google? Theres plenty on there of Lennon's public charity work.
The rest of your post is just babbling garbage you think makes a point - it doesn't. }

14.) 16 Dec 2016 23:58:53
Tick67 fair play to Green Brigade, the club should be proud of them and the hard work their members do with the collection and distribution. Of course great praise to so many Celtic supporters who contribute food and hygiene essentials for both sexes, all done quietly and without any fuss . We should be proud of all concerned, charity at the need base .

{Ed007's Note - Yeah those food collections are always done quietly and with no fuss.}

15.) 17 Dec 2016 08:35:20
imo it don't matter if your doing it in the public eye or behind closed doors, the fact is they are contributing in their own way and helping out people that are in far worse situations than any of us, which should be applauded. When Ed set up a donation page for the walk a lot of posters contributed, some left messages, some didnt, one man donated a hell of a lot and some did what we could, did leaving a message make me feel better that others knew i contributed?, nope, i contributed because i wanted to, not to get a pat on the back.

16.) 17 Dec 2016 08:44:48
The only report a seen about brendans Xmas day charity work wS in a down market rag a picked up at work and it was the actual charity talking about it there was no quotes from br anyhoo still an admiral thing regardless.

{Ed007's Note - There's quotes galore in the View where the story originated.}

17.) 17 Dec 2016 15:00:45
Surely if you know someone is doing charity work anonymously then it is actually out in the open?
Most charities prefer publicity as it raises awareness of there aims etc.

18.) 17 Dec 2016 15:01:01
Old bhoy. You may appreciate giving ore so when it's done anonymously. You don't rate giving when it's done publicly. The recipients couldn't care less. BR will know himself his motives for " going public " with his genorosity. I do t quite know where your opinion fits in to all of this. If the recipients are better off who gives a monkeys?

No need to reply.

Happy with a point? Millers two footed of the ground lunge wasn't close to player? Hill takle wasn't a penalty?

Did you watch the game or reading the daily rangers big game analysis.

Brown and every other celtic players face will tell you how happy they were with a point.

Thank God millers takle didn't connect with Armstrong it was a potential career ender. Plenty of intent and he didn't connect with him coz Armstrong rode the challenge.

Your right it was a free kick but after he was aloud that foul he then fouled him in the box which is a penalty.
