Its time to put the cat amongst the budgies. what exactly are the expectations and desires of Celtic fans? are we happy to win trebles or doubles in Scotland? are we happy to qualify for cl football and be triumphant if we finish 3rd in a group? for the past few years it sickens me when diddy teams from outer Mongolia or such, come to glasgow and out-play us on our own patch. where or when did it all go wrong? In the hierarchy of Celtic fc where is the desire the vision to re-visit past glories? sadly in my humble opinion the present day supporters seem to be completely happy if Celtic put one or two over satan's disciples in the course of a season.

Scottish Football will continue to struggle due to the difference in finances, with TV deals from other European countries.
We are playing with one hand tied firmly behind our backs.
I can remember Scottish clubs used to hammer the Scandinavian clubs but now they receive double the money we receive.
Also Scottish Football, only gets a fraction of what the big European countries get.
Another Quadruple Treble will do in the meantime ?.

2.) 13 Aug 2022 07:34:02
We are where we are, buzz is bang on its all about the finances, sure we should be beating teams like Copenhagen and ferenzvaros but these games home early and apart from this season we're usually ill prepared, Al take a treble and finishing 3rd in cl group all day and a decent run in the europa, apart from ajax the other year getting to a cl semi when was the last time the cl was won outside the top 5 countries.

3.) 13 Aug 2022 09:23:47
There have been 13 winners of the CL from clubs outside the 'big five' leagues. 12 of these came before the year 2000. Porto in 2004 are the most recent team to do it.

4.) 13 Aug 2022 09:51:19
With what is likely to be accepted from Sly, why can’t we do what Sevco did with Cinch and opt out and do our own thing. Precedent has been set, if the rest won’t fight fora better deal, **** em.

5.) 13 Aug 2022 10:33:40
We’re going to win the lot champions league Glasgow cup everything in ange we trust ???.

6.) 13 Aug 2022 13:22:07
18 years since the cl left the big 5,its a closed shop, the Glasgow clubs are huge like ajax psv Porto benfica thw turns but the finance beats them, efa are a disgrace the way they've made it a closed shop.

{Ed007's Note - It isn't all UEFA's fault, the Big 5 leagues basically bully and threaten UEFA until they get their own way, remember UEFA is made up of the national FAs.}

7.) 13 Aug 2022 14:00:49
37 years since the Scottish league has left Glasgow though so I suppose we can't have it both ways.
I wonder what will happen first, a team outside of Glasgow winning the league or a team outside the big 5 winning the CL. Neither look like happening any time soon.

Who has the final say when new shirts are picked? does the manufacturer present a selection and let the club choose. and is there any person or persons who decides? I think as a one-off Celtic could invite fans to submit ideas and if one is picked, the money raised by its sales could go to charities. It would I'm sure be good pr for Celtic fc.

The bew strips imo look great this year 3rd ones a belter.

2.) 04 Aug 2022 10:35:47
I like all 3 kits this season as well Mally but I do agree Adidas are probably missing a trick. It's clear when you look on social media or forums that fans would love a Lisbon-style home kit and a black and gold away kit. They'd make an absolute fortune.hh

3.) 04 Aug 2022 12:26:05
Worked alongside a guy few years back he was part of a forum ( don't know how many ) they were asked for their input into new tops don't know about nowadays HH.

4.) 04 Aug 2022 12:43:41
Black and gold was my favourite to be honest.

5.) 04 Aug 2022 15:20:56
If it’s not green and white hoops it’s not CELTIC.

02 Aug 2022 00:30:03
What are the Celtic supporters 5 favourite goals? if there were a poll it would be interesting to see the outcome my own? Tommy Gs equaliser in Lisbon Henriks chip v them when Malcolm didn't know what planet he was on big Billy's header v Dunfermline big Billy's header v vodjidina and a special goal for me was a game v Hibs when jinky and Murdoch interpassed for about 80 yards before the wee man squaredthe ball to BM who almost uprooted the net from the edge of the penalty area.

The gael

1.) 02 Aug 2022 08:21:44
The gael that’s a tough one as there have been so many in my lifetime. Mikael
Lustig’s solo at Ibrox, Naka vMan Utd, Tom Rogic vAberdeen (final) and any one of the seven 1957 League Cup v Rangers.

2.) 02 Aug 2022 08:46:08
The Gael just realised that I only named four, I forgot Dixie’s goal v Hibs cup final.

3.) 02 Aug 2022 08:46:08
Naka v killie to win the league for me.

4.) 02 Aug 2022 09:51:58
As OK says it’s difficult as there has been so many.
However, for a goal that epitomises the Celtic way of playing, I would have to include Dembele’s ‘whole team’ goal against StJohnstone a few seasons back.
Then there is the ‘defining’ goals. Big Billy’s winner against Dunfermline in the cup final set Stein’s Celtic on the way, so that’s in. Similarly Kyogo winner against Hibs in last years final, as well as being a sublime goal, set Ange’s team on the way and who knows where that will end up. Lamberts pile driver against Rangers effectively stopped the ten, so that’s a favourite. However the best was TG’s shimmy and pass to Bobby on the edge of the box, Bobby’s cross come shot and Stevie side footed best goal ever that gave birth to a Pride of Lions.
Those would be my top five, but whilst the last one will always be my banker, I could come up with another four tomorrow.

5.) 02 Aug 2022 10:03:58
Good question The gael,
The Dembele goal away to St. Johnstone was special.
Every Celtic player got a touch of the ball and it got goal of the season.
The Rogic Proper Invincible goal against Aberdeen.
The Larsson chip in the 6-2 match.
Murdo’s screamer which helped “10 men win the league”
Chris Sutton with the last kick of the game which secured a “whitewash” against the old Ibrox club.

6.) 02 Aug 2022 10:07:37
I loved your reply HarryHoodini. ?.

7.) 02 Aug 2022 11:53:48
Thanks Buzz, I appreciate that, especially from an ace poster like yourself.

8.) 02 Aug 2022 23:47:05
I had to watch it on tape but the goal in 86 (I think) where it starts of with mcgrain and ends up with Johnston scoring is a cracker!

John hartson’s goal at anfield was unreal given we had 15mins of celebrating in the stands because we had pretty much won the tie.

Larsson’s against that mob (6-2) will take some beating ??.

9.) 02 Aug 2022 23:57:31
Buzz Bomb I thank you for including Chris Sutton's goal. i had Celtic to win Celtic to win 1-0 Sutton to be 1st scorer. brings back happy memories!

Ed, you try to make out a case for hatate being knackered after 18 months of non-stop football. So please explain how Celtics captaln can still perform at a high level after umpteen YEARS of constant pressure? Present days players are so pampered they couldn't.
To finish my last posting-present day players are so pampered, they wouldn't have lasted in years gone by playing on stinking pitches, surviving leg breaking tackles, having to wear the same weather battered shirts for 90 minutes and not being able to drive home in their lambergins BMW's etc.

The gael

{Ed007's Note - Pressure is totally different to physical exertion I guess but that's the modern game, players need a rest to recupirate and let muscles etc relax.
I totally agree about young players btw.
Madea, Kyoto, Hatate, Wee Orally etc willl - and so far have - looked sharper for the rest and full pure season with no CL qualifiers to play. It's called sports science or something like that.}

1.) 31 Jul 2022 09:23:06
Did hatate not do two seasons in a row without rest.
Thrown into a very physical league
Plus playing in a position you get a lot of the ball.
He also likes to run with the ball
He can also dribble and has a killer pass.
As for calmac he did get a rest he was injured.
Its all about nutrition when at that level you burn more carbs is energy protein is growth and repair.
His food plan will be changed now.
I thought he was quick sharp and fucused during preseason.
Proper food plan is number one for any athlete as a matter of fact.
Carbs = energy
Protein = growth and repair
Get that right and get training correct. Get the timing of food correct and you take a good player and make them great.

2.) 31 Jul 2022 10:07:39
I think we've always had players with higher stamina levels than others and Ange will have all the fitness info to digest and decide when a player is tiring or slowing down physically and mentally. Hatate seems to be at his peak from what I've seen this pre-season, but at the pace and intensity we play, we will always need changes and replacements around the 70-75 minute mark - outwith any injuries.

3.) 31 Jul 2022 10:12:51
FG what would be best thing to eat before a work out then mate something light mind you.

4.) 31 Jul 2022 10:24:47
Just to say l love mcgregor and think he is the best celtic midfield by a long way and also in the league as a whole. But it not too long ago ( Lennon last season ) when people were saying he looked wrecked and wasn't good enough to play in the midfield anymore for celtic. So give Hatate a chance as he has now had a proper break and pre season under him. All the signs are very positive.

5.) 31 Jul 2022 10:54:38
@ United Ireland
When I get home tonight I will sort that question.
As long as our main man @ed007 let's me put it on.
Its kind of a long answer but when I explain it will make sence to us all.

{Ed007's Note - ??

6.) 31 Jul 2022 10:56:57
I musta missed that? Don't remember when anyone said calmac wasn't good enough for celtic.

7.) 31 Jul 2022 11:46:35
But some were saying hatate won't do.

8.) 31 Jul 2022 11:49:22
The gael hatate played 2 seasons with no break. Mcgregor plays a season and gets a break its pretty simple no?

9.) 31 Jul 2022 12:44:49
Afternoon All

Everyone and every football player are different mentally and physically.

What suits 1 doesn't suit another.

I would assume every football player has there own individual training regime, diet etc.

10.) 31 Jul 2022 13:17:45
@FG no worries mate was needing a pre work out meal before work outs nothing to filling something you can eat not long before a work out and will help with energy.

11.) 31 Jul 2022 13:40:38
' mally i said hatate doesn't like the physical side of the scottish game, it won't be long till were playing in cold wet conditions with hammer throwers putting the boot in, same as the alloa game, let's see how the lad is then.

12.) 31 Jul 2022 13:45:26
Fitnessguruandy-I don't think Hatate will need to change his diet plan. These boys know what's good for you and will have been on a much better diet in Japan than we will ever have over here. I just hope he can get the same quality as he was used to.

13.) 31 Jul 2022 15:02:23
The Japanese will need to change quite a lot.

02 May 2022 10:07:00
I agree with BBs comments about L. Ferguson. i've argued with fellow Tims that over the last couple of seasons we should have trolled the likes of Athletico Madrid and Inter Milan reserves to look for an"animal"that would take no prisoners. Scottish football is rough at times, and there's not much call for stoppers to resemble Frank Beckenbaur. also well done to our captain for capturing a deserved accolade.

The gael

1.) 02 May 2022 11:04:23
Yes, nearly every transfer window let's get Wanyama back, he must be about 60
now, he is the type of player we’ve needed for years, Rangers have a midfield full of that type, they would all walk into our team, Hatate, who is knackered before the game starts, O’Riley hasn’t kicked a ball in months, thank goodness for McGregor, there must be a no nonsense, kick your opponents arse player out there, they have at least 4 of them and stats in Europe show they are doing just fine with them, still we’re top,6 points and all that, there is some amount of work to be done in summer, a full team leaving and at least 6 new needed signed.

2.) 02 May 2022 14:32:28
I hope the other Japanese boy is the holding mid he thinks he is? Tried to poste his name twice spellchecker came up with some strange sh#t HH.

{Ed007's Note - Yosuke Ideguchi.}

T1M I agree completely with your comments. Time and again I've said we need a genuine hard nut in mid field. in the eyes of almost all Celtic supporters Angie can't do no wrong but in this department I don't follow his judgement. O'riley good player that he is does not fill this position. bring back bobo! keep the faith.

Sad news about big yogi. i smile when I used to watch him. i always argued with my mates that with his first touch of the ball, you knew if he was on fire or not. great entertainer.

Fellows sorry if some points I tried to make have appeared incoherent, but wi-fi in parts of the Highlands is frustrating at times. Just want to say I don't have an issue with hatate and hope he has a magnificent season.

The gael

{Ed007's Note - No it came through OK, poor wifis no excuse for talking rubbish though lol
