Three months ago everyone on here was saying it's going to be a six month long rebuild. We'll they were right, and we're living through it. That said, there's no outstanding team in the league right now. We've got to hang in there and support the team. We can claw our way back into this. We'll get better.

Thinking of Billy McNeil, and his family. All those great days. Words are not enough.

How long has Paddy got on his Man City contract? Two years here, success, contract running down, no prospects of a game down there. that's the scenario where we might get him, seems to me. Ed?

Scclt

{Ed007's Note - Roberts City contract runs until 2020.}

Two years to run after this next loan. He'll think he has time. We need to do something spectacular to tempt him. It could happen. Might depend on how Man Coty do.

2.) 18 Aug 2017 19:28:03
I must admit as glad as I am to see Paddy return, another loan deal is not ideal, and us paying over £2.5m for a year is wasted money also.
On the plus side for all the games we will be playing we need him to bolster Forrest, Sinclair and Hayes and the young lad we got from Ipswich in the wide areas.
Another centre back now would be good and with Cifcti away on loan to Plymouth, surely that opens up another centre forward space to help Dembele (IF he stays) and Griffiths.

3.) 20 Aug 2017 21:37:11
I am happy to pay £2.5m each year for the next three years for Paddy and get him on a free come 2020. Man City cannot compete with KT.

Just saw announcement of Tam Gemmell's death. If true, very sad. He was something. Condolences to his family. Everyone in Scottish football should remember him and mourn his passing.

Just joined. Hello. Celtic fan since mid sixties. ( 1960's. not quite that old) Those were the days. Might not come again, but we have to stick with it. Hail hail.

Welcome scclt. Hail Hail.

Welcome aboard Scclt, saw your post down a bit about Roberts, if we are going to have a real go, then yes play Roberts, Dembele and Griffiths. But we need to be wary of their counter attacks, young Roberts offer very little defensive wise in that he does not track back. My thinking is play the 3 of them AFTER half time when they tire a bit.
But make sure first we are not chasing the game by losing an away goal.

4.) 31 Jul 2016 16:23:45
HI Sccit: another (nearly) elder statesman on board, keep the young ones in check.

HH.

Thanks everyone. Good to be here.
Timalloy, you might've right, playing safe with an extra midfielder, but they have a poor away record, so they might be fragile. I'd be less worried about the counter attack if we had more pace at the back.
This is why BR is paid his money. thankfully it's his call. Big Jock would have attacked from the start, but look at the team he had!

Scclt, i agree with u think attack is the best form of defence and we get an early goal n this mob will crumble. I can see us scoring 3, and Roberts right now 1st name on the team sheet, he's a goal threat, creates, can beat a man, has that final ball n have to say I think his tracking back and chasing down players is coming on 2. He chased down the defender n pinched it 2 set up Griff and he chased back a few times in the game n linked with janko well.
They score 1 early and then were on the back foot n need to attack so 4 me I'd go 4 2 3 1 Griff up top with Roberts dembele and if fit johansen, if not then Armstrong with brown n biton holding.
Go at it right from the off n I think in the forward positions there's a decent amount of goal threat with that lineup.
Br may, I have a feeling go with Forrest wide, and Roberts the other side as their fullbacks were really poor however I think dembele has decent pace to trouble on either flank, plus Forrest for me should be gone with commons.
Whoever plays though I'll back 100% when in a Celtic jersey regardless and I think 3 0 Celtic.

Wee Pat you'll need your y's, but thanks anyway. Some Amazon' stuff on this site!

If we play for the first half like we did against Lincoln Imps we will be ok . Under any manager for the last 15 years when we have really went for it we usually get what we want . If we give the opposition too much respect from the outset, we can be in difficulties.

He won't recruit for the sake of it. But if he can get a player for any position, at the right price, who's better than the best we have in that position. different matter. I guess that's one way teams get better. That and improving what you have. I think Brendan can do both.

Efe Ambrose was a bigger worry last time we played them. We've come a long way. We shouldn't be frightened of this. If we're not good enough we'll have to face that, but we should be well good enough.

Well, horrendous is as horrendous does. I seem to recall we were at a Euros for the first time in decades, and got a good draw that we might have won against the eventual ( beaten thank goodness) finalists. Not totally shabby?

I’ve posted that I didn’t think Ralston has enough football in him to be a Celtic fullback, but I’m very happy if he continues to prove me wrong. He’s been terrific for four or five games now, and he has a great attitude. Credit where credit’s due.

Thanks for the encouraging analysis deep river bhoy. Hope you’re right. We’re getting stronger for sure, and it sounds like they are weaker than last year.

SOS- BHOY I guess the club could pay 30k pw for a few exceptional players…. but if Christie got it and it got out…. how many more would be saying “ wait a minute”? Unrest again. The question is…. would most of the squad think Christie is worth top dollar at the club, and accept that he’s on way more than them? A lot of hardworking people are on 25k a year, never mind a week. I know it’s a short career, but come on. For playing a game with a ball? I know it’s how the world is…. but this old guy can’t see Messi being owed 30million plus in “ back wages” as something reasonable.
