When you were a wee fella, who was the celtic player who you then followed for years? Mines was Bobby Evans, although my father's choice was CPT. Interested In Buzz's thoughts.

I remember my granda telling me about Tully when I was growing up. He sounded some player.
2.) 24 May 2025 11:17:59
Ronnie Simpson was mine when I started off but that was when he was at the end of his career. It then became Davie Hay.
3.) 24 May 2025 11:49:53
Guys it HAS to be JIMMY, JIMMHY JOHNSTONE
He was my idol as he was not only amazingly skilful but brave with it, he got kicked umpteen times but just got up and ran at defenders again and again.
4.) 24 May 2025 11:50:21
It was always wee jinky for me. Astonishing talent.
5.) 24 May 2025 12:28:01
The two players I first loved were John Collins and Tom Boyd. JC broke my heart when he refused an autograph in the rain. When he fecked off and ended up in the EPL I watched him with gritted teeth. Thankfully I didn't need to follow Boyd anywhere.
6.) 24 May 2025 12:21:13
The 'Lions' were packed with characters and great players, but there will never be another Jimmy Johnstone.
7.) 24 May 2025 13:04:49
Through boyhood up till now approaching retirement age . jinky dalgleish tb maestro Henrik broony mgregor . all had attributes of true Celtic greats . feeling a bit emotional now ?.
8.) 24 May 2025 13:17:33
I remember as a nipper when I went to the barber I told him I wanted a haircut like Bobby Lennox ?.
9.) 24 May 2025 13:22:51
John Collins was mine aswell Henke.
10.) 24 May 2025 14:26:03
Paul McStay.
11.) 24 May 2025 14:43:07
James Connolly Johnstone for me, rightfully voted the greatest Celt.
12.) 24 May 2025 15:33:18
Bobby Murdoch for me . He had everything and did everything a midfield player could do .

Guess Saturdays team? What can we expect on the day? Knowing Brenda's mind - set I'm convinced he'll rely on the true and trusted for his starting eleven. However I'd humbly suggest my own views, viewed on displays recently=Forest a must against Aberdeen, Mc Cowan in mid field. 50/ 50 about Scales at CB. If things are going well, bring on Yang at some stage with instructions to to attack defenders. Keep the Faith.
1.) 21 May 2025 17:45:40
I don’t think Brendan will make any changes from last weekend.
2.) 21 May 2025 17:46:53
I think the only decision to be made is Forrest or Kuhn and Bernardo or McCowan.
3.) 21 May 2025 18:02:47
Forrest and Rocki should be starting imo.
4.) 21 May 2025 18:08:46
Scales hasn't done anything wrong not to get a start.
5.) 21 May 2025 20:30:45
Scales makes mistakes every game, but certainly has the managers eye over Nawrocki and Trusty who he sees on a daily basis. However, I think Scales will get the nod, but it's an area that needs much improvement for next season.
6.) 21 May 2025 20:32:39
We certainly haven’t seen enough of Nawrocki to start him in a Scottish cup final . i think the only decisions that BR has to make is at what time he should bring on Yang, Forrest and Mc Gowan.
Also if we have no injuries to positions that the previous players have substituted should he replace Johnstone and maybe Taylor with Ralston and Schlupp.
Let’s hope we start confidently and at a good pace with a high press.
7.) 21 May 2025 22:46:03
Wee des we've seen enough of Nawrocki to know he's our best CB!
{Ed007's Note - Do you watch foo
8.) 22 May 2025 00:13:21
Never heard of it.
9.) 22 May 2025 17:31:02
It never ceases to surprise me whenever we discuss Celtic players, how us supporters who only see players during matches, know more about our players than manager and coaches who are professional football experts and see the players at training as well. However with Nawrocki it is even stranger as he has only played about 5 times in two seasons and still some of our supporters know better.
I normally include myself among those who thinks so much of myself that I often know more than manager and coaches but that’s usually after watching player play minimum 20 or 30 times . That isn’t case with Nawrocki, I haven’t a notion if he is any good or not, he looks ok from the limited amount of time I have seen him but that’s as much as I can say about him.

REALISM. What is a realistic ceiling for Celtic fc? What can supporters dream of for the future? In the next few years is qualifying for the last 8 the height of ambition.? Yes-we simply don't possess the financial clout to
buy the best players around plus would any world class player want to display their skills in Scotland? We can go on for days about rearing young talent, but other clubs around Europe have done this for years, and have got nowhere near the cup final. Time to take stock and realistically have a go at our future prospects.
1.) 15 Dec 2024 00:18:44
I am happy if we play attacking football and keep trying to progress. I am also pragmatic enough to know that it is highly unlikely for us to compete with the elite teams in Europe but that does not mean we should not try to make inroads.
2.) 15 Dec 2024 12:21:48
As long as we live within our means, we should always aim to improve and that doesn’t have an end goal!

Here was my complete betting for Saturday's game. Celtic to win 1st half and 2nd half. Anytime g/ scorers Maeda Scales and Bernardo correct score (2bets) Celtic 6 Ross County 0 and Celtic 7 Ross County 0.At half-time, I thought I was a shoo-in to get at least a good run for my doe, but what happens, the manager makes the wrong substitutions! Only kidding. Although I've made a few bob, remember, no begging letters please., it's the mrs's birthday on Christmas day, and I need to get her TWO prezzies.

I was amazed we never added to the five, second half, but we did miss a few great chances and their sub 'keeper did well.

I knew plenty of punters would have Celtic to win each half.
Or Celtic to score in each half and Celtic to get at least 5 corners in each half.

Mentioning McCowan, is it just my imagination, or has he sprouted a couple of inches and looker stronger recently? Always admired the boy as a player and was delighted when he joined the hoops.

Having watched majority of celtic games this season, I'm willing to give a personal opinion of the following players, although an awful lot of you will entirely disagree with me. 1 Engel slow burner whose now one of our best and most consistent players. 2 Hatate, who up until a few games ago appeared to have lost interest and enthusiasm, and yet recently seems to have come alive and is getting stronger the longer the game lasts. 3 Mc Cowan fantastic squad player who raises the tempo of the play when he comes ob as a substitute. 4 Idah cumbersome frustrating character who can't fathom out the off-side rule. And finally I go out on a limb and say that young Miller is overrated and I wouldn't be the least bothered if he doesn't come to celtic. Without naming names I know there are a couple of players in the spl currently employed who could do a turn for celtic in the short term. These boys are strong, pacy and would be relatively cheap to fulfil the centre - forward spot.

4leaf, I have a feeling you and I have a similar history of having viewing cfs over decades. When I think of Neilly Mochan, Stevie Chalmers and Joe Mc Bride etc, I think of players you could bet on, to not only convert chances, but in majority of cases at least hit the target. The two main stays of our present squad are, in my humble opinion, a waste of space, and I can't understand the number of people who voice support for them in this forum. The goals they score, in comparison to the chances they miss, is lamentable. I came onto this site a few weeks ago and said that we need a proven goal getter, and I firmly stand by that. In the present situation, I would no doubt upset a few of you by suggesting as a temporary measure, we try McCowan at centre, at least he would try to make angles and space in the penalty area to create scoring opportunities.

Would like to see a proven goal scoring centre - forward brought in.

Bhoy4.once again I find myself agreeing with you. I'll have to stop this before people start talking about me. But your right, I could name a dozen or so strikers from Mochan through macbride Hughes Deansmcgarvey chalmers macillvaney etc etc who would bury a lot of chances being missed in the current era. Even in the so called modern era, people like Nicholas Dalglish Hooper, Dembele would flourish with the chances going a begging. PS any chance of the 1957 scoreline being repeated?
