Guys I have to disagree with people writing that no one will challenge us. Fact. teams have adopted a certain style this season ( i know only 5 games in ) to combat our attacking style, but if we are being totally honest this has been ongoing since last season where performances either weren't good enough or we lacked creativity to put teams away considering we have the majority of possession in 99% of games domestically.

ED has highlighted this a lot of the time when we were all bumping our gums about the defence, the hard facts were that we did not score as many goals compared to season before and by a fair bit. Our main challenge just now is putting teams away by putting the ball in the net and until we start doing that then teams will continue to do what they are doing and getting results like Friday night's. Personally the 3-4-2-1 doesn't work for me as we end up with Brown and Ntcham taking the ball 5 yards from 3 centre halfs which is limiting the number of players in advanced positions to hurt teams.

Add to that Forrest and Tierney also responsible for defensive work as wing backs for me results in a system that's no suiting us. Hopefully we can find a solution very soon. griff and French eddy up top for starters would help.

I have said many many times in here when people have a go at the defence that's not our main issue.
Our main issue is our attacking play, we do not vary it enough and now we have no physical presence either.
We have forrest on 1 side while playing well crossing is not a strong point.
We have lost our partnership of KT/ Sinclair on other side.
Eddy is clearly not a penalty box striker but like Samaras likes grass to run into.

When teams pack it like St. Mirren do we struggle to find a way at times.

BR said on International weeks he likes to reflect and think, well I not on his level obv but our set pieces are poor why not try some new things.

Why not try another way of breaking teams down, if it means long ball so be it (not all the time obv) .

Why do we need 16 passes to cross the half way line?

When a team attacks us let's turn it over quickly and counter attack, also why not LET teams attack us sometimes as we can be lethal on the break and team in the SPFL can't cope with us when we have space to run into (see sevco game) .

When teams have set piece against us (yes ok defend properly) but why not set up to have players in counter attack positions.

Look at Liverpool they are always ready to pounce, why can't we?

We would rather make 20 passes before we do and by then opposition team is all behind the ball its not rocket science that's its more difficult to score cos of this.

2.) 16 Sep 2018 16:11:19
Agreed. definitely need 2 up front with the way teams are sitting in against us.

3.) 16 Sep 2018 17:14:00
Going to be difficult to play 2 up front over an extended period as we only have 2 strikers.

4.) 16 Sep 2018 17:49:38
Why don’t they try and sign an experienced centre forward who is a free agent, might be good support to eddy and Griffiths, sure their must be at least one or two out there.

5.) 16 Sep 2018 20:59:00
I would like to see a 4-3-3, with Sinclair getting a run as a left wing forward, and agree I'd like a good penalty box striker, who can header the ball, maybe not Rodgers style (and although I'm not comparing us to Barcelona, but it's sometimes a bit pass pass pass like they were at times) , a ball into a big man could give us something different. Not sure what free agents would be about and don't want another Carlton Cole, but a big rough em up type guy would often help. Is John Hartson not up for a return?

6.) 16 Sep 2018 21:01:00
If we take long shots from the likes of Rogic and Ntcham players like Griffiths and Forrest should be on the keeper immediately I'm case he spills it. That pressure would surely pay off.

7.) 17 Sep 2018 15:19:58
I hope B R brings in Rayman99 and Henrik's Tongue to work with the first team squad, the day before every match . Celtic might win as many SPL titles as Liverpool have won EPL titles.

8.) 17 Sep 2018 18:12:24
Surely we can offer contracts to Sako and Traore until the end of the season. Something different to what we have and freshen things up a bit. Traore being the target man option as he's 6ft 8" and may be what we need for set pieces. Sako offering height width and pace. Both would have a field day in our league. Agree with DesH as much as it would be ideal to play 2 up front we are an injury away from a crisis which would make more sense to sign up a free agent CF as cover until the end of the season while we decide on who to go for.

9.) 17 Sep 2018 18:48:41
Your right chris we could help with coaching lol while u could coach them on how the refs are all biased against us.
I wonder which one the players would appreciate more.
Get back in your DeLorean car mate.

10.) 17 Sep 2018 22:08:12
Look at Liverpool? Why?

Finalists in Champions League and then went on to spend £168m.

And you wonder why we can't counterattack like they can.

A grip needs to be gotten.

we will win the league - I have no doubts - we have a far better squad than everyone. True they are chaning their style to combat ot stregnths - but Hearts will get beat by St Mirren, Hibs got beast by Livi., Aberdeen will get beat by everyone - and ragers had their worst start in how many years.

we aren't invincible - but we are far better than the rest of the pile - frustrated by lack of transfer activity - especially in defence - yes defence. But we still are better than all before us.

Depresssed we didn't see the warning signs and stregnthen to ensure continued run in the cl but that's life. don't expect much this year in EL - but Im hoping Lawwell will see what not spending does to the bottom line and invest for success,

11.) 18 Sep 2018 17:41:14
Rayman, you know as little about me, as you know about Celtic .
It doesn't seem to hinder you posting about either .
For future reference I don't want to be associated with you as mate.

Damn wasnt finished that post!
Mikey ended last season on a high and has been working really hard over the summer. Morgan needed a chance and Lennon is giving him that. He knows what Sinclair can do ( cut inside the defender and pass it back to either brown or whoever is left back) and knows he can rely on him for goals now and again but its important we try and blood tye younger players in as well.
3. We need to get this RB situation sorted out once and for all. Its getting to the stage where its unacceptable now. Anyone watching Ralston with a football brain knows he is not the answer. He doesn't need loaned out for a season he needs to leave and join a team where he will play every week. I dnt think he will be good enough moving forward at CP.
4. let's get behind the manager this season. People still on bumping their gums about NL. End of day he is here and is our gaffer. He got some fine players thru the door in his last stint. VVD Hooper Ki Emilio Ledley Forster Kayal to name a few. He also had a Mistakovic in him as well but so do we all and BRs signings mainly fell into that category lol

Mon the hoops.

1.) 20 Jul 2019 10:03:08
Personally in that game the other night I think Morgan put in about 3 absolute fantastic balls into the box, can't remember the last time Sinclair did. Morgan is also 2 footed so can play on both flanks.
I think Morgan looks like has loads of potential and just needs to play.

2.) 20 Jul 2019 12:00:35
For every tap in sinclair has put away, there's been 100 failed dribbles, cut insides and poor passes.

3.) 20 Jul 2019 22:47:18
So that be around 6000 then? 😂.

4.) 21 Jul 2019 12:36:58
6000 failed passes, cut insides and failed dribbles. Probably a bit on the low Side actually. Make it 9000. Sinclair isn't good.

Been reading through a few posts the past few weeks and have came to some conclusions:
1. Kev your love for Scott Sinclair is immeasurable! I agree that Sinky has been a greay goalscorer for Celtic in the years he has been here but his performances last season were that of a guy who looked lost of ideas and drained of confidence. I hope he proves me wrong this season but I think Scott has had his best moments in a Celtic jersey already. I would not get rid of him as we need some experience but the argument to have him as a starter ahead of younger players in most games are wearing thin IMO. Which leads me to my next point.
2. We greet and greet and greet about young players not being ready or not getting game time tben when Lenny throws in a Morgan or Johnston some guys are so quick to criticise the manager for picking them in a starting 11. Mikey Johnston has had a fine pre season. He ended last season on a high.

OfficerLustig

1.) 20 Jul 2019 13:47:32
I think johnston and Morgan have both been good in pre season. Many where saying Morgan won't make it at Celtic. I really think he will, a good old fashioned winger who can actually cross. And he's 2 footed.

Farewell Mika. been a great servant to our club over the last 7.5 years. going to have to change my name now. gutted!

Oh his name is Mika Lustig, he wears a policeman's hat. see u at 10IAR party 🇨🇮🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🇨🇮.

OfficerLustig

1.) 19 Jun 2019 21:50:27
Lustig was a great servant and we will miss his character, leadership and experience.
He was the only Celtic player to start all 6 finals in our treble treble run.
I wish him and his family all the happiness in the world.

2.) 19 Jun 2019 22:08:52
It won’t be easy replacing such a brilliant character, supporter and player of PC Lustigs calibre. Sorry and sad to see you go pal.

3.) 19 Jun 2019 22:50:26
Lustig has been a great servant to the club, but he stayed maybe a season too long, .

12 May 2019 16:04:50
All loans will be away apart from arzani i think. Toljan is guff imo! If we get anythin over 5 million for aussie tam id take it in a heartbeat. Ed has continually told us all how poor his stats are and he is totally correct. Izaguirre should not have been offered a new deal and if rumours r right that he is its a disgrace. He is done. Burke. a pro player. pfft only thing he has is pace. Ano i sound doom n gloom but we need players in the summer who can make a difference. Maybe try for de bruyne on loan or summit lol.

12 May 2019 14:50:53
Shocking today. hopefully that confirms to all the green n white tinted glasses brigade that all is not hunkey dorey! That performance today totally disgusted me. Total lack of effort and bottle. We need a big manager with big balls to come in and make the changes needed to push us on for the ten. That was brutal today. I love celtic but c'mon bhoys. count on 1 hand any players who can say they gave their all today and that is unacceptable at any time of the season.

OfficerLustig

1.) 12 May 2019 14:59:49
We had nothing to play for today other than pride and they were the hungrier team and deserved the victory.

2.) 12 May 2019 15:19:34
The players don’t seem to be playing for Lennon really, but they also need to take a look at themselves. This is a really strange season where we will probably end up with a treble treble but I can’t really think of a time when we put a run together where we played good football consistently . Coming off what could be a record breaking season we are in my opinion under pressure for the end of season where we need to make important decisions regarding the management and players in and out. The nine in a row depends highly on getting these decisions done swiftly and correctly. Peter Lawwell you are now under the spotlight.

3.) 12 May 2019 16:01:46
Poor team selection by Lenny, I feared the worst when I saw the line up.
We don't have enough grit in midfield, Broony against four of them today.
Rogic hopeless, get rid, Lustig made of chocolate again, Mikey should have nowhere near that line up and if Burke is a £15 million player.?
Get big Victor back to add some bite in that midfield we are too lightweight in there.
Big rebuilding job required and although I like Lenny, we must get someone who will attract better ball players as ours are clearly not good enough. The team have done well this season and will hopefully complete the treble treble in two weeks time, but that will only paper over the cracks.
Rafa please come to CP.

4.) 12 May 2019 16:17:02
Rj10 your dreaming if you think big vic is leaving a team in the CL final for Scotland mate.

5.) 12 May 2019 16:39:09
Yes probably Kev, but you can only dream buddy.
Utterly depressing watching that today.

Kent is a gd player. Id have him in our team before Sinclair and Hayes based on his performances last season. I want Johnston involved a lot this season as I think he is a crackin player with loads of potential.

I won't state fact again as it seems to offend some here. I should have stated IMO instead. Fact haha

Sinclair used to be better than Kent. We won't sign him anyway. Personally I think Kent is a cracking player with a questionable attitide. If we take off the green n white tinted glasses he is the 1 player from across the city who would have got in our team last season. Fact. As I said he won't be a celtic player tho.

I'd go with Johnston or Hayes. I thought being captain last week would spur Sinky on but he was as predictable as ever. imo. he is lacking confidence and always cuts inside and lays it back into the centre mid. If sinky starts i hope he gets past his man early doors and grows into the game. Johnston played well and looked well up for it. U know Hayes will give u everything. I thought bitton was excellent on sunday and has maybe gave Lennon food for thought with him and brown sitting with calmac pushed up 1. Rogic does my t*ts in but is prone to a hampden belter so who knows. Ntcham has been disappointing this season and flatters to deceive. altho he has his moments of brilliance. Who does he start centre bk with ajer? Benk or jozo? Whoever starts i just want them to go out there and do the business. early goal would be magic and if we got 1 early i recon we could take a few off them. Main thing. win the cup and make history bhoys. 🏆🏆🏆COYBIG 🇨🇮.

Ed007 not logged in for a long time and didn't want to lately (prob since October) as didn't want to be seen as doom n gloom! But Jesus. i can't think of 1 player who has improved under Lennon. Guys like Mcgregor and Christie have regressed under him so much. Mcgregor basically calling him out last week saying he didn't understand the game tactics or setup. It's got to stop now - should have happened months ago when we were scraping by and papering over the cracks with Lennon telling us that performances were up there with some of the best he's managed. no pulling the wool over anyone's eyes unless deluded. On that note I'd also like to appreciate a few folk's undying loyalty to NL, based on what he's been through in the past, but this is the here and now, the future and for that to be prosperous we need a new manager, as well as a revamp on how things work for the club to progress. We've had great times but it's at a very low point in the clubs history considering that this was considered to be THE year of all years. I'll never stop supporting the bhoys but it's time for a change and for me its the final, final, final. nail in the coffin. i hope tomorrow brings encouraging news.
PS thank you Ed007 for your efforts and hope all is gd. 🍀.

{Ed007's Note - I'm good buddy thanks, nice to hear from you as well 👍

Kev goina quit the love fest with Sinclair honestly. To say Johnstone has been ok at best is a joke. He is a young player who will be in and out of form. Every big game that he has played in he has been let down with either then manager playing him out of position or the full team going missing and guys like u pointing the finger at the easy target. Sinclair hasnae had a good game for God knows how long and has became predictable, in fact he has been for a good while now. He takes the ball cuts inside and passes it back. Scores the odd penalty here or there. Cani remember the last time i saw him take a man on and beat him. Johnstone isn't the finished article by a long way but he has bags of potential. Bayo played well today as well so if he is an option up top then Eddy goes wide left where he is so effective either creating or scoring like at times last season. Lennon sees them every day and will know what he wants come a Saturday. That said I agree with u that Morgan is rank rotten and shouldn't be ahead of Sinclair.

We ain't stronger. No RB for a start. We haven't signed anyone who improves our starting 11 from last season. Jullien is a big money signing to replace benkovic who was a class act. Boli if signed as a backup to KT is an improvement for the bench rather than Emilio. Luca is a project who will hopefully become good enough in time for starting 11.

And now we have a utility man who is rumoured to be fighting it out to be new RB but that isn't his natural position. Every year we flirt with this situation and leave ourselves a little vulnerable to missing out on CL. We got by a couple of times but we got caught out last season so its a gamble. But then again so is every signing as well. Must be rotten being a manager lol.
