ED007, Heard anything concrete about a bid being accepted from Urawa red diamonds for Giakoumakis?

Few rumours flying around saying a fee has been agreed and he has accepted terms, the club is owned by Mitsubishi so they've apparently got cash to spend.

Gutted if he leaves before the summer, he's a major asset to us and we should be pulling out all stops to keep him imo.

MK74

{Ed007's Note - There is definitely interest in Giakoumakis from URD but I don't know if anything's been agreed, just because URD are owned by Mitsubishi doesn't mean they are rich and they would need to break their record transfer and probably their wage structure to land Gio.}

1.) 08 Jan 2023 13:14:17
Heard that and we have supposedly outbid mainz for the Korean lad.

2.) 08 Jan 2023 13:24:58
Also stories coming out that we've outbid Mainz for Cho Gue-Sung.

3.) 08 Jan 2023 14:00:46
If GG story is correct then all that p! sh about his wife being "home sick" is rubbish also, "homesick love?, ok come half way round the world with me that will help you settle"

{Ed007's Note - The stories about Gio's wife wasn't that she was homesick, it was that she didn't like living in Scotland. Nobody seems to know what nationality his wife is.}

4.) 08 Jan 2023 14:25:09
I'd be disappointed if he leaves but if his family aren't happy then he's got to do what's best for them. He's a great striker and completely different player from Kyogo, which we need.

5.) 08 Jan 2023 19:21:51
Henrik, agreed.
If any player's family dynamic is affected by where they live then there's only going to be one winner.
It's exactly the same as any of us getting a job in ABC-land, if the missus says she hates it then you're going to go somewhere else.
If GG goes the so be it. I'd rather he stayed but I'm not the one who has to listen to his missus moaning and whinging. HH.

6.) 08 Jan 2023 20:14:15
He could tell his missus that he makes the money and he could get another burd but there's only 1 celtic.

7.) 09 Jan 2023 11:54:24
We have outbid the other mob, allegedly, but it still needs the lad to want to come to us. I hope he does. Be sorry to see GG leave but if he wants to go then fine.

8.) 09 Jan 2023 21:02:25
Tell the wife to f off, hell never play for a better team the the mighty celtic.

Iwata deal now confirmed, been agreed for a few weeks now, will take the place of ideguchi who will most likely head back to the j league.

Abildgaard loan to be cut short soon, also looking likely McCarthy will be off next month if not then the summer.

Kwon Hyeok-kyu, 21 year old 6ft 3 midfielder has received an offer from us, top Korean prospect.

Celtic also weighing up several strikers but any deal will depend on Giakoumakis leaving.

^^^ got name mixed up with other Korean player we’ve been linked to.

Oh - hyeon gyu, 21 year old striker 6ft 1, is the player that has allegedly received an offer from us. If rumours are true I’d personally prefer the other lad who scored at the World Cup, reportedly available for 2m.

2.) 30 Dec 2022 15:28:31
Looks a hardy bit of stuff just what we need.

28 Dec 2022 09:15:42
Ladislav almasi rumours surfacing again. 23 year old 6ft 5in Slovakian striker who plays for banik astrava in the Slovak league, played them in a friendly during the summer and ange was supposedly impressed.

Not sure how much truth there is to it, could be the papers bringing up another name again due to the talk of Giakoumakis potentially leaving.

MK74

1.) 28 Dec 2022 15:45:48
Probably just a rumour. I don’t think a giant is what we need. We need a striker with good technical ability. Not a heed on top of Girraffe legs.

2.) 28 Dec 2022 16:02:35
His name has been popping up a few times. Only seen the lad play in preseason agaist us and he looked a donkey but this was only a friendly.

Iwata to complete his medical this week before being officially announced, 6 month loan with option to buy for just under 1m

Jenz to stay until the end of the season despite reports his loan deal will be cut short, we have an option to buy which I really hope we activate because I do think the big man has the potential to be a real player and is good cover.

Supposedly Celtic and Rubin Kazan have reached an agreement to end Oliver abildgaards loan early as he's failed to impress Ange since arriving in the summer.

Adam Montgomery to stay with st Johnstone until the end of the season, same with Liam scales at Aberdeen. Both were due to come back in January as they were only 6 month.

MK74

1.) 28 Dec 2022 03:38:20
Good news! Think Jenz can bea player myself wait and see. How much will hee chin us again if we where lookiiking to buyà.

2.) 28 Dec 2022 17:59:28
ED007, any idea what the option to buy fee is for Jenz when his loan ends?

{Ed007's Note - I'm pretty sure it's about €3 - 3.5 million, Mick.}

Most Recent transfer talk is that we need a centre back and centre defensive mid and we're pretty much in good shape.

Seen a rumour at the end of last year in us being interested in sparta pragues david hancko. Left sided centre back and would certainly be a fantastic signing, played well against us a couple of years ago in europa league.

As I say it was only a rumour but certainly one I hope resurfaces, definitely need a solid reliable centre back to compete with CCV and starfelt, Don't think Welsh is at the level required yet and can't see jullien sticking about.

1.) 17 Jul 2022 15:14:40
Joseph Okumu Doing the rounds.

2.) 17 Jul 2022 19:22:07
Where you seeing that mate?

3.) 17 Jul 2022 19:53:12
Ben Davis away to them for 4m.

4.) 17 Jul 2022 21:18:59
Davies and Sevco are well matched, £4M, what a waste of money ?

☘️ ? ☘️.

5.) 17 Jul 2022 23:10:50
Will cost them that for physio tables.

6.) 18 Jul 2022 00:18:35
Seen it on another Celtic forum page mate can’t remember exactly which one but sadly I don’t think it was anything concrete, would have been good if there was any truth to it.
Okumu would be a great signing but can’t see it happening, had a solid season in Belgium and he’s valued at 10m plus now so he’s pretty much out of our range after we’ve just signed CCV.

7.) 18 Jul 2022 08:02:18
£10m then he ain’t coming to us.

Just seen Southampton have had a 3m bid accepted by Lyon for moussa dembele.
I know some will say he's had his time here and he wanted to leave and isn't an ange type of player but we could have done worse than go back in for him. Probably well out of our range in wages but just a thought.

MK74

1.) 31 Jan 2023 10:43:08
No thanks won't put in the work for the press, something that has made us successful in the past 18months, we need workers. yeah he can score but so can the rest of our players, would upset the balance of the squad and do we want Kyogo playing 2nd fiddle as that's what Dembele would expect.

05 Jan 2023 00:32:24
If the rumours are true I can't see why the club aren't offering Giakoumakis improved terms on a new deal, apparently he's currently on less than half of what the top earners earn and for me an out and out goal scorer is worth there weight in gold.

Would honestly hate to lose him in the middle of the season due to Celtic playing hardball, if he does leave and kyogo picks up a bad injury then would a new striker be guaranteed to hit the ground running? It's too risky for me and GG should be here to the very summer at least.

I think the club should give him an acceptable offer, he's a fantastic finisher and gives so much to the team when he's fit and on a run of games, giving him a bump in wages would also be much cheaper than going out and spending X amount of millions on a Korean striker, or any of the other strikers we've been linked with, who aren't guaranteed to score goals.

MK74

1.) 05 Jan 2023 07:15:33
I also think GG has earned a fair shake, whatever that may mean in the structure of the core 18 or 20 players we turn to regularly. He's done all we're asking of him currently, and some.

2.) 05 Jan 2023 10:21:14
I'm sure Ange will have said his piece on the player to the board.

3.) 05 Jan 2023 11:06:48
Just keep Lawell out of it! Gio deserves to be up there in wages with other players and if it’s true he is on half, which I don’t know how anybody would know that as fans, he has deserved a raise. If he is going to leave stories about going for both of the Koreans might be true.

Just a quick question that hopefully someone can sort of explain in depth a bit more. Michael Nicholson said today at the AGM that to expand the main stand it would cost an estimated £100m based on past studies.

Absolutely no idea in the slightest how this works but I didn't think it would be anywhere near that figure which seems an insane amount, obviously it's a mass amount of work and a lot of cost but didn't expect it to be as high as that, even double checked anfield as an example and they were over 100m ti develop there stand a few years back.

Always loved the idea of a 75-80 thousand parkhead but doubt it will ever happen.

MK74

{Ed007's Note - Domestically we can hardly fill a 60,000 stadium apart from 2 derbies a season, flag day if we won the previous league and any game that makes us champions.
It's one of the reasons the atmosphere at Celtic Park is absolute garbage and it would be even worse in a larger arena.}

1.) 04 Nov 2022 19:48:59
But ed remember we're the best fans in the world.

{Ed007's Note - I thought that was the Tartan Army? In saying that, it's hard to tell the difference some times.}

2.) 05 Nov 2022 08:26:03
Haha brilliant ed.

{Ed007's Note - ?

03 Sep 2022 00:38:43
Curious to get everyone's opinions on what team we should put out tomorrow. For me though I think it should be the exact same team as the 3-0 game and that's GG for kyogo and Abada for maeda.

GG has been brilliant for us when we've played them and I can't say kyogo has managed to have an effect whenever he's played them. They will probably sit deep and try to hit on the counter and just bully kyogo if they can and that's why I'd rather GG starts to provide an out ball and to get in about them.

Big game on Tuesday and I think kyogo and maeda would be suited to that game better with there pace in behind because Madrid won't come here and sit deep which then leaves more space in behind for them to run into. Thoughts?

MK74

1.) 03 Sep 2022 03:31:15
Remember kyogo has a new trick he stands well off side till the next phase of play then runs inside. This might catch out sevco CBS As they will not know to stay with him or not. Could be a very interesting game my prediction is 3-1 the hoops.

2.) 03 Sep 2022 06:46:14
He's only played against them once or twice, deary me give him a chance and he'll Bury it he's in fire right now, but if ange went with gg no probs equally good.

3.) 03 Sep 2022 08:22:42
Its a tough one but this will be the first time that Kyogo is fully fit when playing sevco as well. His first game he had not long joined and was played out off position for edouard. The other 2 times he played he was coming back from injury and came off the bench in the semi final and played an hour from the start in the last league.

I think he will start today and im confident he will score although our better performances last season against sevco came when giakoumakis started.

4.) 03 Sep 2022 08:41:19
Kyogo has finally started to show his brilliant pre-injury form and it looks like he will continue to get better.
Barasic will get destroyed whether it’s Jota or Abada on the right wing.

5.) 03 Sep 2022 09:47:27
Maeda for me. He will block the right side from getting any time and this guy sands will be terrified of getting caught one on one.

23 Jul 2022 14:39:50
Sounds crazy to question ange when his recruitment has been spot on but just seen the lineup against Norwich and it's pretty much our strongest 11 except Welsh is in for starfelt. If that's the same 11 we would have for the champions league I'd be happy on one hand due to the attacking quality we have but extremely worried on the other hand when it comes to defending and set pieces.

2 people, CCV and oriley are 6ft plus and for me that's a major concern when it comes to defending.

I feel like the physical aspect of this team has been neglected a bit and it's all good having the flashy players in the team scoring goals but if your not keeping them out at the other end when it matters then it counts for nothing.

MK74

1.) 23 Jul 2022 14:52:28
Jenz looks a big lad gg can defend set pieces.

2.) 23 Jul 2022 14:53:11
I think CCVs calfs are 6ft diameter but I think he's only 5 something.

Hopefully another good signing if all goes well but I would personally love GG to stay until the summer. I know it’s hard to keep players here if they do want a move now but if it can be helped in any way we should pull out the stops and do what it takes to keep him until the rest of the season as there’s a league to be one.
Let’s face it, kyogo is on fire and scoring goals but if he had a horror injury soon and is ruled out for the rest of the season and we’ve let GG leave, would this Korean lad hit the ground running? It’s a massive risk for me, it could work or could not. It’s ok saying play Abada or maeda through the middle if kyogo did get injured but for me the smart thing to do would be to keep GG with the promise of a decent amount of games until the summer to maintain his market value, sign this Korean lad and let him bed in so that if GG leaves in the summer he would then be ready to step up and take his place.

ED007, please tell me something else is going on here if we’ve actually accepted this bid for GG. Who is it within the club that accepts or rejects offers for our players? I understand he might want to leave and that’s fine but surely we shouldn’t be accepting such a n offer for a striker who is worth far more than that.

A few big calls but looking at it it’s very tactical. Johnston to match Kent for pace as jura is probably not fully 100 percent fit and Forrest has the energy and experience to track back. Jota or abada are better technically but these games are about more than that, gutted that mooy misses out but I think it’s the right call, O’riley carries the ball well and gives a bit of height at set pieces.
