We love him and he loves us. match made in heaven lol

@celticfc: Celtic will face either Legia Warsaw or St Patrick's Athletic in 3rd qualifying round of UCL should they beat KR Reykjavik next week. (PC)

@celticfc: Legia Warsaw and St Patrick's Athletic drew 1-1 in Poland last week, while Celtic hold a 1-0 lead over KR Reykjavik. (PC)

HamiltonBhoy

1.) Hopefully it'll be st. patricks

2.) When I seen this I thought Legia Warsaw is quite a tough tie for CL qualification then it says they lost 1-0 at home to st Patricks! Are legia struggling at the moment or not as good a team as I assumed?

3.) Same, Warsaw will be trouble on/off the pitch. Neo-Nazi's, not just their ultras and hooligans, but the majority of their support. Constantly attacking rival fans for flags, scarves, tops, etc. Potential banana skin on the park as well.

4.) Or are St Pats better than you thought . Sligo beat Rosenborg 2-1 away last night and they're behind St Pats in the league at the moment

5.) I think every celtic fan is aware we lead 1-0 from the first leg.killy.

6.) I was afraid that we might have drawn St Patrick' s instead of the Icelandic side . I worried that as they are a reasonable side in mid season we may have struggled . I was afraid I would have been laughed off the forum .
However with the two qualifiers and the game in Germany behind us I think we should be ok in the next leg .

7.) Clondalkin Red: St J also beat Rosenborg away last year, 1-0, then drew with them 1-1 in Perth.

Celtic are supposedly leading the race for 21 yr old Ostersunds' striker Modou Barrow, he was recommended to the club by ex-Accies manager Billy Reid who's their current Asst Mgr.

Barrow had a £600k bid from Bolton rejected for him (valued at £1.5m by Ostersunds) after spending last week on trial at Burnden Way.

He's also being scouted by Hull, QPR, Swansea and Everton!

HamiltonBhoy

1.) Hello

He looks a good prospect, He is not a striker he plays as a RW or a RM.

A

2.) This boy looks good and might be a good buy for us .

Rumour in the Daily Mail this morning that Ronny Delia has already confirmed we're in the market for a wide man and his number one target is Christian Atsu (on loan) who we tried to sign last summer before his £5m move to Chelsea. RD hope's the prospect of Champions League football will be enough to convince him to join us?! He spent last season on loan to Chelsea's feeder team Vitesse.

HamiltonBhoy

1.) Why are we looking at loans? I keep hearing we have no money. Wanyama and Hooper?. Wheres that money? Ronnie says he's wanting goals tomorrow night, I'm wanting players BOUGHT.

2.) We may be looking at loaning him with a view to sign permanently, that might be the route our board are wanting to go down now so we avoid any more Boerrigter / Bangura type transfers!

Tbh, I don't think we will actually be after him.

Not being funny, but the rumour I posted on here about Mix Diskerud was posted on the GB's rumours thread. The day after I posted it on here, it was in the DR - the boy who posted it said he completely made it up?

Someone on here mentioned Christian Atsu last night, it was then in the papers this morning?

I'm thinking the press have turned to using message boards and social networking to fill their rags due to Celtic keeping everything so hush-hush at the moment!

{Ed007's Note - I've messaged someone who should know if there is anything in the Atsu story but I can't see it happening.}

3.) I don't think there's any problem with us pursuing loan deals, in fact I think we should be aiming for one loan signing every season. Young players looking to prove a point can be great acquisitions. Look at Lukaku. A good loan signing who we couldn't afford to sign permanently could make the difference in europe

4.) Lukaku is indeed the perfect example of a successful loan and is the kinda thing Celtic should be looking at, but young and looking to prove a point, not old and topping up the pension

@ScotlandSky: : @dundeeunitedfc confirm Mark Wilson & Paul Paton under investigation and unavailable for selection this weekend.

HamiltonBhoy

1.) 23 Oct 2014 15:27:53
Wilson has been suspended for being out on sunday while he was suppose to be playing in a reserve game on monday. That's what iv heard and believe tbh he's a die hard tim and knows zaluska and can't see him having anything to do with the incident except being there

2.) When Wilson signed for us he said Celtic wis the team his family had "supported all their life" as well, can always remember him knocking Sasa Papac out wi a shot. Be disappointed if it turns out he wis involved in the attack!

Fi the pics I seen on Tuesday, it looks like he tried to defuse the situation. Bur the club will need to carry out an investigation on both players, wouldn't be surprised if Wilson comes out unscathed. As for that person **** Paton? Player of the Month to public enemy number one in less than a week!

Ed, what's your thoughts on Mark Wotte? D'you think he's done a good job at the National Performance Centre?

With him moving on from his position as the SFA's Performance Director (which he's been doing since the McLeish Report / Review of Scottish Football), would you like to see him take on a similar role at Lennoxtown?

He clearly thinks he's done enough to implement a fully conventional strategy which will move Scottish football forward to leave the role, and seems to believe that the structure in place will continue to grow over the next few years.

HamiltonBhoy

{Ed007's Note - I've never really known or understood what Wotte was supposed to be doing at the SFA.}

1.) Main problem that convientley was not addressed to satisfactory conclusion was league structure. If wotte and SFA truly had the growth and development at heart, the league restructure would of been a similar pyramid system as england, to allow teams like spartans etc the chance of promotion each season.

This idea of if you finish last in lowest division, that club will stay a member of SPFL is killing the game and potential players who would do the damage are being overlooked.

Daz Mackinnon is an example. I went through school with him. Wasnt an outstanding player at 18, but developed into a decent SPL player by mid 20s. Got picked up from clydebank by a chance encounter from hamilton. Point i'm making is how many players have slipped through the net, because they don't get spotted playing in lower leagues?

Only plausible reason is the demise of rangers and to ensure sevco have less obstacles to overcome promotion wise. Corruption at its best

2.) That is going to happen from this season going forward, DN.

The winner of the 2014-15 Lowland Football League (BSC Glasgow, Dalbeattie Star, EKFC, Edinburgh City, Edinburgh Uni, Gala Fairydean, Gretna, Preston Athletic, Selkirk, Spartans, Stirling Uni, Threave, Vale of Leithen or Whitehill Welfare) will play a Pyramid Play-Off against the team who finishes 10th in the Scottish League Two.

As well as 14th in the Lowland Football League playing the winner of the East of Scotland Football League champions v South of Scotland Football League champions Play-Off match.

But I agree the structure should be better. Have it being more along the lines of:

- Senior (7 levels, 9 divisions)
- Junior (4 levels, 12 divisions)
- Amatuer (think it's something like 67 leagues in 50 regions)

That way teams from the SPFL Scottish Premiership all the way down to the SAFA Saturday + Sunday leagues are under the same pyramid structure!

Sold Wanyama, Ledley, Hooper, Wilson, etc n replaced them wi utter rubbish; out the LC in the 3rd round; out the SC in the 4th round; embarrassed in 5 of our 6 UCL Group Stage games including a 6-1 defeat to Barça at Camp Nou.

Yet Peter Lawwell walked away wi a salary of £524, 576; £400, 500 as a bonus; "benefits in kind" of £17, 312; n pension contributions of £57, 108 for the 2013-14 season?!

http://m.stv.tv/news/west-central/295966-celtic-chief-peter-lawwell-get-400k-bonus-on-top-of-520k-salary/

HamiltonBhoy

1.) Holy bejesus! How do we get rid of this fanatic? seriousna.

2.) 16 Oct 2014 23:49:55
So the board decided that a fantastic performance by the team equated to a huge salary for PL - and here was I thinking that we were a football club with a proud tradition of winning!

12 Oct 2014 16:03:04
Leaves Scottish champions n European regulars Celtic due to budget restraints, joins Bolton who sit bottom of the Championship n only spent £310k on 12 players in the summer lol. Best of luck wi that one NL! Celtic to the core?

HamiltonBhoy

{Ed007's Note - As well as Bolton's problems that I mentioned last night their last accounts from December 2013 showed they were £168.3 million in debt and they were forced to use their parachute payments from the PL to pay their overdraft facility with Barclay's bank. Future accounts are expected to show even worse results for this year. I wish NL well but I think he has made a poor choice and I'll be astounded if he is still Bolton manager in a years time, the club's in a mess and if a transfer embargo is enforced in January they could easily find themselves facing a serious relegation battle.
If I was him I would have kept working as a pundit until the summer to see what jobs became available when he would have time, and money, to stamp his own ideas on the club.
As a side note Roy Keane took over Sunderland when they were second bottom of the Championship and went onto won the title that same season... So it is possible that NL could do the same at Bolton.}

1.) @hamiltonbhoy I've never bought into this budget constraints excuse for lennon leaving club and his appointment at bolton has proved my theory to be plausible.

I'm Praying that he comes in for ambrose

11 Oct 2014 14:11:21
Just noticed today's topic for Poll of the Day, it should be "Can Celtic finish in the top six this year?" lol.

HamiltonBhoy

1.) Hamilton "bhoy" Have you been a glory hunter supporting Celtic from Hamilton and now switching your allegiance to Hamilton?
No real Celtic supporter doubts where Celtic will finish .

2.) Chris, it was clearly a joke. Would you put your house on Celtic winning the league this season? Because, unlike last season, I wouldn't. So, I guess I for one have my doubts.

3.) I would put my house on Celtic finishing in the top 6 and I would only ask for someone to put half a million on them finish seventh or worse.

4.) Just the top six then?!? Ambitions have dropped more than I thought then.

5.) 11 Oct 2014 19:23:48
Hi Ed I see you are becoming agitated by people criticising Delia,s methods. To be honest I agree all players should be as fit as can be but the problem lies much deeper. There is no point in comparing him to previous managers he must be judged on what he achieves.

The major problem is that it wouldn't matter how fit the players there are two many in the wrong areas of the park. RD may think he is playing a 4231 but in effect we have four front players who don't contribute when we don't have the ball. In every game it is clear we are a man short in the midfield. Even in the games we have won we have carried a lot of luck (hearts, Zagreb).

So I won't criticise him about innovations but I will criticise him about gross errors of judgement

1 playing Berget in a CLQ when he hadn't even trained with the team

2 Continuing to have the team attack against Legia when down to ten men and losing two further goals (and two penalties)

3 Leaving Commons out against Maribor remembering he was the player of the year and top scorer last year. Before anyone says they only need a goalless draw, the team is far too open to achieve a result like this

4Making ten changes against Inverness and having to change the left hand side of the team completely at half time

5 Playing Berget at Dundee and having to take him off after 41 minutes

6 Leaving brown and commons on the bench against Motherwell and then having to bring them on to rescue a point

7 Losing at home to Hamilton and then saying we are making progress

So it's not about chips or fizzy drinks, he may well be an outstanding physical trainer! but he is a poor tactician. this is a man with at best an average track record as a player and a manager. So for those people saying it will come good if he is given time I am afraid this is solely based on RD own self promotion, there is no evidence to remotely suggest he can successfully manage at this level of the game

6.) Groutdoc you raise the errors well, albeit in hindsight. The one that really got me was saying we're making progress after getting beat at home to Hamilton. Results wise, it's definitely not progress. Performance wise, it isn't either. Saying things like that is the BS that really angers me. He should have said that it wasn't good enough, he wants to see better, we need to do better. I think it would have angered Hartson too and that's why he was right in saying it was like RD didn't know what it meant. I know he's trying, and could do well, but losing to Hamilton, simply, is NOT progress!

7.) Get a grip of yourself Chris02 n stop acting like a clown.

Aye, this is exactly whit I wis trying to get across Ed. You've always got your way wi words but, unlike some of us lol. If we were able to get an older head like Joseph Yobo or Diego Lugano in on a Free Transfer to play alongside either VVD or Denayer, it'd benefit them in the long run!

HamiltonBhoy

{Ed007's Note - It's the same as playing Sutton/Hartrson and Larsson up front, or having NL as an enforcer in the midfield with players like Lubo around him to collect the ball and start attacks.}

Cheers Ed, knew you'd have a good idea of what's been happening. There ye go then, so it's unfair for anyone to criticize or compare him to others for not banging them in this season after his big money move. Once he's settled, learned the lingo, etc - I fully expect him to be linked wi even bigger clubs again!

HamiltonBhoy

{Ed007's Note - Real Sociedad sacked their manager at the weekend and Davie Moyes has been linked with the job, if he goes there Finnbogason should get out ASAP.}

I think the problem with VVD + Denayer is that they're too similar to one another. Both are young, confident, strong, comfortable with the ball at feet, etc. They can't learn much off one another. Put one of them in there at CB with an experienced head and you'll see them come on leaps and bounds!

HamiltonBhoy

{Ed007's Note - VVD and Denayer are both ball-playing CBs (like the old liberos or sweepers), they're comfortable on the ball and as well as marking and tackling the ball-playing CBs should be able to read the game very well and can intercept and play the ball out of defence either by making incisive forward passes or even making forward runs when in possession.
If you have a ball-playing CB you need a 'stopper' beside them, their role is all about winning the ball, marking and tackling their opponents and being dominant in the air. The big 'stopper' style players are the hard men of the team with a 'thou shall not pass' attitude, their physical presence should instil a sense of fear and intimidation into opponents and a sense of belief and security to their team-mates.
Most successful CB partnerships consist of a 'stopper' and a ball-playing defender - the stopper winning possession with his physical approach and his partner tidying up and playing the ball out of defence, just like the Ferdinand/Vidic partnership, Laurent Blanc/Desailly for France or Hummels/Subotic partnership at Dortmund, we need a big physical 'stopper' to play alongside either VVD or Denayer, someone who will do the dirty work to allow them to get on the ball and open up the game from the back.}
