Scott Robertson away to Crewe on a season long loan.

10 Aug 2021 17:15:30
The S*n reporting Gordon Strachan returning to the club tomorrow in a senior advisory role.

1.) 10 Aug 2021 17:41:15
Most backward move a so called modern football club could make.

2.) 10 Aug 2021 17:49:14
I disagree auf, I rate WGS and his experience could be invaluable. If what I’m reading is right his role is over youth development which is something we can definitely improve on. Although I’m not 100% sure if that role is accurate.

3.) 10 Aug 2021 18:15:53
The fans will be split on this decision.
WGS played longer than his professional team mates because he was ahead of his time and looked after himself.
Celtic had a very fit squad when Strachan was our manager.
I can think back to when we deserved to beat Rangers AET in the League Cup Final and we also played Spartak Moscow off the park in Extra time before winning on penalties.
I think WGS will do a professional job and he will bring high standards to the club.

4.) 10 Aug 2021 18:25:23
Strachan said Scottish football would struggle becusr of size of players we produce. That's not going to change. His football at Celtic was dreadful. Save me results argument he's developing the future not getting the best out of what he had. Plus it will secure his laptop boy in a job even longer. Only Celtic could take away a good feel factor so quick. Prehistoric appointment.

{Ed007's Note - Apparently Ange is more than happy with the standards of GS Jnr's work. Him and JK took plenty of pelters when NL was here but they rarely get a mention when things are going well, I've no idea why that is.}

5.) 10 Aug 2021 18:27:44
How's it backward if you know football you know football, and Strachan will do a good job imo.

6.) 10 Aug 2021 18:30:13
He'll oversea the b team as well as the academy I believe.

7.) 10 Aug 2021 18:30:34
Great move by Dom to bring WGS in to overhaul the youth setup, hopefully we will see a lot more of the young boys coming through.

8.) 10 Aug 2021 18:48:56
Auf sir Alex was winning titles and he was nearly 70,wgs knows the game inside out and ange must have sanctioned it.

9.) 10 Aug 2021 19:03:54
Club just confirmed its only a 3 month role.

10.) 10 Aug 2021 19:09:38
I don't get some of our fans sometimes, WGS has an abundance of experience to offer the club. Why wouldn't the new CEO try and tap into that with, the fans are crying out for the club to be restructured and when we start making moves for that to happen they moan 🤔.

11.) 10 Aug 2021 19:45:54
Think it’s a great move wgs has a vast knowledge of all things football.

12.) 10 Aug 2021 21:19:46
3 month consultancy project for WGS.

13.) 10 Aug 2021 21:27:42
From what is being reported he will be overseeing the youth set up, good move in my opinion.

14.) 10 Aug 2021 21:27:59
Name one player he made better. He was the begging of our downsizing and most the football was absolutely rotten. And he started that zonal marking that got us punished on most European outings.

15.) 10 Aug 2021 22:42:34
We are doomed, if WGS gets anywhere a role with any influence, the guy is a zealot for modern tactics and formations, just because they are modern tactics and formations, not because they are good tactics or formations,

{Ed007's Note - I don't think you've read what Strachan will be doing for THREE months.}

16.) 10 Aug 2021 23:05:36
Chasaboy - You do know that WGS isn't actually going to be training the players. He was also the beginning of our downsizing because that's what DD, Lawwell and the Board wanted him to do due to the money spent and contracts given by MON.

Do you think he came in and just decided to start downsizing on his own?
Oh and during his "Downsizing" he managed to get us to the CL last 16 twice and won 3 titles in a row.

17.) 11 Aug 2021 00:17:27
Auf how possibly is this taking away the feel good factor . Too many celtic “fans” just look for the negative . Give it a rest. Not everything is glass half empty.

18.) 11 Aug 2021 04:49:49
Sounds like a minor role looking at youth team. I did think that Ange may need an old head with a bit of experience of the European game to give him context but from few games I’ve seen, he might just need a settled back line. He seems to have way of doing things his own way thought and time will tell. WGS looking at our youth doesn’t seem like a prob to me.

19.) 11 Aug 2021 05:15:32
Also, did WGS not get us into last 16 of CL for the first time with the downsizing.?

20.) 11 Aug 2021 06:03:34
He’s in, his next role after consulting job will be DoF and the balance is reset.

21.) 11 Aug 2021 06:50:38
There’s got to be 1000s better candidates for any role at Celtic. So much for modernisation, this is just putting a new jacket on a histobook.

22.) 11 Aug 2021 07:34:13
It's a good move for the club. Less for Ange to worry about in his first few months at the club while he focuses on us getting a good start in the league.

23.) 11 Aug 2021 19:02:05
@chas WGS had celtic the fittest they had ever been how many late goals did we score then. Also he had McGeady pulling sleds during running to get him fitter.

03 Aug 2021 12:00:58
Being reported that Starfelt not named in the Europa League squad. No reason given as yet.

Maybe another mistake.

21 Jul 2021 20:10:31
Swedish defender announced on a 4 year deal.

28 May 2021 23:53:00
Gordon Strachan called it some months ago.

Ed, any chance that Barkas and Bolingoli could still leave? Are markets still not open in Europe?

{Ed007's Note - You can find a list of them HERE.

1.) 01 Sep 2021 12:22:08
Best hope is a club from Russia or Turkey bids.

{Ed007's Note - I was thinking maybe a Turkish team would come in for Bolingoli again.}

03 Aug 2021 19:43:10
Wonder now that Japan are out the Olympics if the move for Ko Itakura will gather pace?

1.) 03 Aug 2021 19:51:19
It won’t be any faster Greentree because Japan play Mexico for the Bronze medal.

2.) 03 Aug 2021 21:01:49
I watched the lad Itakura play against Spain at the Olympics today. Definitely not the dominant centre half we are in dire need of although he was very comfortable on the ball and not to dis-similar to big Ayer the way he brings the ball out from the back. Actually think he would be a better defensive midfielder.

Would still take the guy in a heartbeat but we are crying out for a dominant centre half that just attacks any balls into the box and anything that gets in the way. Another big Bobo or Varga type player would be ideal.

Seen someone suggest on Twitter the other day that we should get Martin O’Neil to scout a centre half lol actually thought it was no a bad idea.

3.) 03 Aug 2021 21:46:51
Not a bad idea at all - HH MON.

02 Aug 2021 11:03:52
I'm afraid the same toxic employees who presided over last season shambles are still in position, with the exception of Lennon and Lawell.

I know we need a lot of players, but a good team is built from the back. Apart from Martin O'Neil I can't think of a Celtic manger since who built a solid back line.

We've always had to make do. Bitton case n point.

If you don't concede you don't lose. Yes I know that's simple to say.
Yes I also understand if we don't score we can't win. But a solid back line has to be the corner stone of a great side. How can Celtic never go out and buy or train a solid defence.

Look at the other side, slippy came in and built and worked on a solid back line.

I don't know how training works but we need someone who can organise, work with and train a defence.

Sorry for the next comment, but those who say we get this position filled and that position filled are way off point. We need more than that. We need a lot of luck. I fear this season is going to be a struggle and the points margin could be more than last season.

I HOPE I'M WRONG, of course.

1.) 02 Aug 2021 12:14:23
Totally agree. Not only do I doubt we'll win our games but I also don't see many taking points off that mob. With automatic CL qualification for the winners it really will pay off to invest heavily and wisely.

2.) 02 Aug 2021 14:42:43
Your MON point is truly valid, although I think WGS did a great job of building a strong team all over the pitch on a budget.
For far too long we have had serious problems at the back whether it be full back, centre half or goalkeeper and the amount of injury prone and/ or inferior stop-gaps have just prolonged the misery.
I really hope (but doubt) , that we would spend real money on the positions that we crave as it's not as if we don't have the cash.

02 May 2021 14:50:33
Right let's face it, this sevco teams isn't outstanding, decent but not outstanding. Yes they have been much better than us (under statement) bette coached and drilled.

We're the exact opposite.

New manager in, new structure, better coaching get rid of the players that don't want to be there, get players in that do.

Sevco will never have an easier season than this one. Let's regroup and see how they handle the pressure from a resurgent Celtic.

1.) 02 May 2021 15:19:40
We have missed gil edged chances in nearly every game against them, and we've had the better chances difference is they finish theirs we don't, our deliveries from wide areas is poor theirs is very good and we can't defend.

2.) 02 May 2021 17:01:22
It’s all about opinions, I thought the second yellow for McGregor was very harsh little or no contact, he went down too easily for me.

26 Apr 2021 10:37:07
The papers go on about them being ahead of Celtic. Yip ok they've won the league at a canter obviously.

But it wasn't so long ago these same papers were writing about Celtic being miles in front of them.

Celtic for whatever reason simply haven't been up to it this season. We may never know why.

After the 1st 10 games they've went through the league campaign with no pressure from anyone. May well have been a different story if we had our house in order.

Anyway my point is I don't think they're that great or far in front of us. Yes we need some players without doubt. I'd like to see all these loan players stopping, or at least not so many.

But with a decent manger, as shown with Rodgers we can get back on track very quickly.

Yes it's disheartening to see them 20 odd points in front of us. But that was us at one point.

Things can change very quickly in football.

Hopefully the new manager comes in quickly and Celtic can move forward once more and taken our tittle and cups back.

1.) 26 Apr 2021 13:00:59
They are not that great. We never turned up this year we where woefull. What we achieved it the past ten years has been amazing and it's one of the hardest things to is keep winning trophies. They are a one hit wonder they also now know it's not easy to keep winning our achievement have been unreal.

2.) 26 Apr 2021 13:30:46
We do know why. We have been allowed to regress for years going cheap. We appointed a guy who should never been manager. Our recruitment team are the worst in football. This has been coming for years now. I can't believe anybody is actually surprised. My only fear is Lawell doesn't receive another unearned £3m bonus. That woukd be the final straw for me.

3.) 26 Apr 2021 16:16:18
Lawell made one of the biggest cockups in football in a shower room pardon the allergy 2 years ago and what ever reason even when he saw it wasn't going to work out he never did anything about it that IMO is the reason we got hammered this year the Green brigade made a tefo warning Celtic ( don't sleep at the wheel) but still Lawell did nothing I am sure next season will be a lot different.

4.) 26 Apr 2021 16:21:44
They've went unfeated in the league (so far) which is a remarkable achievement. They might not have won a double or treble but that's not an easy thing to do. We need a massive rebuild and realistically none of our 1st 11 would make theirs on current form.

5.) 26 Apr 2021 21:03:47
At the end of the day, Sevco have watched their club die and a tribute act take its place. They then had to play in the lower divisions for 4 years before watching their team get pumped by us for 5 years. On top of that they have had to pretend they don't like football or get ripped off us on a daily basis.

This is why they are going over the top with their bravado and celebrations. I say let them have their day as I sure normal service will resume soon and we can start ripping the piss once again.

Sick of loan players. You either get one with something to prove or one that isn't interested. We've had to many of the latter.

Mally it's all about opinions.

As it stands Celtic have a uphill struggle and need some movement on the transfer front.

The horizon can change very quickly tho.

DTP we were all over the place defensively at time with AZ getting in behind our fullbacks. They need better cover from our midfield.

Let's get 4 or 5 performances like that in a row before we all get carried away.

But the forward play was magnificent. So direct, so fast.

Unrecognisable from last season.

Sorry I agree with Ed. I a player doesn't want to be here don't pick them. If they leave we need to intergrade another into their position. Get them sold.

Think we may see the Japanese lad play instead of Eddie from now on. Hopefully Eddie is sold soon.
