I see the Oliver Burke has joined on loan for the season. thoughts on this.

1.) 05 Jan 2019 11:39:12
Great player will improve us for sure and no fee paid bar wages no brainier, if he does well which I believe he will we might be able to make it permanent good deal 👌.

{Ed007's Note - There's no option for a permanent deal.}

2.) 05 Jan 2019 11:42:40
The only way the deal makes sense to me is if there is a option to buy him which I doubt as he cost them 15 million. He hasn’t been playing for them so won’t be fit and he’s also not the finished article so 6 month is not long enough to get him intigrated for me.

3.) 05 Jan 2019 11:47:44
I don't like loan deals especially this short. I want to win the league so if he comes in and helps us do that 👍👍.

4.) 05 Jan 2019 12:06:39
I think he could play behind striker too or both wings id rather a permanent player in too instead of loans but he's a very good player what harm will it do having a 15m attacking threat for the second half no problems he will score, no option of buying him but like you said If he helps us why not 🍀.

5.) 05 Jan 2019 12:15:29
Hopefully replaces Sinclair, his performances over the past 18 months have been shocking needs dropped .

{Ed007's Note - Is that the same Scott Sinclair that scored 18 goals and had 17 assists last season and has so far this season has 9 goals and 6 assists? I wish more of our players were as shocking as him.}

6.) 05 Jan 2019 12:42:00
How many of those 9 goal where penalties?

{Ed007's Note - 10.}

7.) 05 Jan 2019 12:47:47
Are you really trying to say Sinclair has been playing well, guys been a shadow of the player he was, not been at the races for a long time, a total lightweight and a coward .

{Ed007's Note - Well he's been playing better than players like Boyata Lustig or Brown and more productive than Rogic and Forrest. Calling a guy that has been racially abused since he came to Scotland a coward is real classy btw.}

8.) 05 Jan 2019 12:53:19
Hahaha now Sinclair is getting abuse for scoring penalties. Couldn't make it up.
Over 50 goals scored in 2 and a half seasons.
Around the same in assists.
The most effective attacking player since his arrival
Out scoring Roberts Forrest rogic but not good enough.
Aye ok.

9.) 05 Jan 2019 13:20:13
Coward what a load of pish. Guy takes the ball constantly knowing he's about to get blootered and has no protection from refs.

10.) 05 Jan 2019 13:35:57
Wish the Burke loan was 18 months, more difficult with 6 months but he has quality, bit of pedigree, pace to burn and a help / competition for sinky and James is ideal. If you think how important wingers are in Rodgers formation this is actually a superb area to strengthen as we look weak when jamesy or sinky don't perform or help out a lone striker, really happy with this. Leaves opportunity for arzani to come in next year, can see the thinking.

Right, castagne, bayo and announce Victor. Break wage structure n pay the spondoolies! Let broony go, clear out Allan / Hayes / squad players n let's have it!

11.) 05 Jan 2019 15:33:15
Not a fan of Sinclair but his stats don't lie. He's been off form at times but calling him a coward is ludicrous.

Hopefully giving him some competition in the team will spur him on to the form he showed in his first season.

12.) 05 Jan 2019 19:33:09
A coward? My God transfer windows see all sorts appear on here, how is he a coward? He's maybe a bit light on the ball but that's how he's so tricky.

13.) 05 Jan 2019 19:43:12
Just to cover the absence of Arzani and give back up/ competition to Sinclair. The boys got talent and under Rodgers he could kick on and have the best 6 months of his career to date. Sinclairs form hasn't been brilliant but he still scores and assists. Agree far more productive than Rogic who gets no criticism at all he doesn't score anywhere near enough playing in a team like us. What's Forrest scored in the past 4/ 5 games? Everyone has dips in form.

14.) 05 Jan 2019 21:55:31
What’s happening with the boy weah? .
He looks as if he is the real deal.
Would add good pace to the team would Burke and weah.

Does anybody think there's proper serious issues going on at Celtic at the minute. That's Brendan now complaining about the ground and quite rightly so the pitch looks horrendous. We have struggled to look half decent all season, we look a shadow of last years team. The signing policy this year has been terrible and we're now only a few days away from the window closing and we're short in various areas and it looks like Brendan's not been backed. Something looks way wrong in my opinion. We're in a proper dogfight for the league now that's obvious and there strengthening in taking these new guys while we stand still and hope we can win it. Major gamble by the board as we actually look like we can drop points against anybody. Some tough games coming and I just don't feel massively confident I'm afraid.

1.) 29 Jan 2024 01:51:27
A brilliant and accurate post ?.

2.) 29 Jan 2024 08:57:49
Strengthening? 2 of their summer galacticos Lammers and Cifuentes have already bottled it. What makes you think they have strengthened lol
They slever in hope over every signing they make hoping it will end their pain, these loan galacticos will be dug meat just like the rest!

3.) 29 Jan 2024 10:38:25
At least give them credit ( pardon the pun ) for trying to improve. If Rodgers is not prepared to fight for what HE stated he needed, WTF did he come back for? The general assumption was that he would be given the tools and freedom to take us to the next level. Keep hearing we are waiting till summer to sort out certain areas of the team. Why would any club with a modicum of ambition delay what needs sorting now, especially with the financial prize that’s waiting? Or, is the plan to punt assets in the summer and replace with cheaper as per usual. As things stand, Rodgers would be better GTF now because he is letting himself be made a scapegoat for our board who apparently have no interest in taking us forward in any footballing sense whatsoever.

4.) 29 Jan 2024 12:01:42
“Strengthening in taken these new guys”
( 2 in and it looks like another 2 on there way )

Would mean in this January window, whilst Celtic have only signed another one winger.

5.) 29 Jan 2024 14:47:34
I always thought strengthening was taking in players that improved the match day squad, but I see we can’t have agreement on what is strengthening. Based on bringing players in last summer must have been great for Celtic 10 players In including one already on loan.

6.) 29 Jan 2024 16:08:23
Didn't you read Rodgers regarding getting quality? He stated it's not easy and takes time! I think BR is happy not to just sign pkayers for the sake of it. What yous don't know yous just make up lol.

Was speaking to my mate whose info is usually bang on and he was saying giakoumakis is only on around 8k a week. If this is the case do you see Celtic improving his contract as he's already tied down for years. Bring him in line with some of the bigger hitters at Celtic. I personally think he's a 30 goals a year man.

Dennisno7

1.) 15 May 2022 12:03:48
Dennis,

I don't personally know what Giorgious gets paid but what I do know is that he was happy to sign a 5 year deal in the summer with Celtic when he had other options on the table.

As a Striker I'd imagine he will have bonuses built into that contract, goals scored etc and possibly add ons with games played, time at the club.

I've also read that despite featuring in only 21 league games this season he's finished the season joint top scorer.

I was delighted when he initially signed, given his scoring record in the Dutch league and despite;- C.V., adjusting to a new environment, style of play and being 'back up' to Kyogo, this guy is an out and out striker who is a nuisance to the opposition defence.

I agree, he has plenty of goals in him and I think under Ange, the best is yet to come.

☘️ ? ☘️.

2.) 15 May 2022 15:54:12
Pedro71, I too was delighted when he signed - he was the type of player we had been crying out for for a long time. We still need another like him IMO.

No mess, no fuss, no bull, just goals.

What's you thoughts on Patrick Veira as a replacement for Lennon. Think he's a big enough name with the potential to attract the players we need. I don't know if it's somebody that's out with our pull or not maybe Ed would know this but he seems to be well thought of and he could be the man to steady the club and move it forward.

Dennisno7

{Ed007's Note - No - I hate Patrick Veira 😁

1.) 13 Feb 2021 19:41:53
Won’t you listen, Patrick’s mate Roy Keane is the new boss.

All the best with your recovery Tim

I'm also recovering in isolation in holland after initially passing 4 CV tests in 4 days to go offshore A week later I started to become unwell and then tested positive. My experience is that I have got off a lot lighter than a lot of folk, but that doesn't make it any easier as I'm still feeling minor effects. Best of luck with the recovery Tim and look forward to hearing you have recovered back to full fitness.

Great news about tim 💚
Get strong and stay safe pal. HH.

Does ED know is it a rolling contract Neil Lennon has or is he contacted for a few more years. If it's a rolling contract it shouldn't be expensive to let him go but if he has a few years of a lucrative contract then he's not going to walk away from multi million pound pay off. I'm the same as every fan and desperate to see wholesale changes but could the contract be the problem and why he's not being relieved of his post.

Dennisno7

{Ed007's Note - Lennon has a 12-month rolling contract, every day the 12 months starts over.}

1.) 31 Jan 2021 19:42:47
I had no idea that's how a 12 month rolling contact worked. I thought it was just a 1 year deal that automatically renewed at the end of each year.

{Ed007's Note - It's basically if you get sacked at any point you're owed a years salary, Kev and I think any bonuses you'd be due - like if Celtic sacked Lennon tomorrow he might still be due his bonus for winning the Scottish Cup from last season and that would need paid up.
If a manager signs a 5-year deal and is sacked after 2 years the club needs to pay him the other 3 years of the deal, a one year rolling contract always has 12 months to run.
Does that help clear it up a bit mate?}

2.) 31 Jan 2021 20:37:10
My very first Celtic game was a defeat, we lost the 1970 Scottish cup final to a very good Aberdeen side, I remember that game because my Dad carried me on his shoulder through Glasgow Central station, the first time he ever did that.
I loved that day and I wish to God I could go back and do it again but I can't.
I have had a love affair with Celtic my whole life I have seen us winning, losing, capitulating and perpetually retreating from a position of power I have seen some of the Worlds best players passing through those Parkhead gates including my Hero the King.
I have seen Celtic sides that are better than anything we could muster today and I have seen players playing for us that were barely above junior level.
Neil Lennon was far from my first choice as our Manager but I am sickened by the vilification of this man by supposed supporters proclaiming love of club but portraying nothing more than infantile tantrums at losing.
Regardless of results I will continue to support this unique God blessed club and wherever Neil Francis Lennon finds himself in the future I thank him and pray he finds solace.

3.) 31 Jan 2021 21:02:37
Excellent post Charles. God Bless. ☘️.

4.) 31 Jan 2021 22:01:37
Fair play Charles67.

5.) 01 Feb 2021 13:30:41
Slightly older Charles 67 but totally agree hh.

6.) 01 Feb 2021 14:37:12
Absolutely Ed, it makes total sense. I'd just always had it in my head that the "rolling" part meant as one 12 month period finishes, the next just begins unless agreed otherwise by all parties beforehand.

{Ed007's Note - 👍

So would we stand to make over a million or would be get nowt.

Dennisno7

{Ed007's Note - From experience I would say we won't be due anything from the sell on clause.
Remember when McGeady was linked to with Zenit for around £30 million and the press said we were due about £2 million of that, well how much did we get when he eventually joined Everton? Nowt.}

Absolutely 100% agree with what you have to say ED. I no RD is having a nightmare time at the moment with all the Celtic fans wanting rid of him and as you say Europe never went right this year but we're still in the hunt for the treble which we have a good chance at winning. I remember watching his seminar a few months ago and thinking this man knows what he's talking about and what he wants to do. I hope he stays true to his way of wanting to play the game and if it doesn't work well he will fall on his sword. Really hope that he does nail in a treble and then that may change so many of the haters and give the man some backing. As for John park the last few years his signing policy has been absolute terrible and it's been a while since the likes of wanyamma, Ledley and co but always hoping we can pull something special from somewhere. Just don't let him near the strikers.

This is why I enjoy listening to your posts ED. 100% truth the way real celtic fans want hear. True to the core. Most don't like it but it's the truth

Dennisno7

{Ed007's Note - Thanks very much for that, that's appreciated. I'm not saying I'm 100% right but I always post my honest, if not always popular, opinion. I put my point across to try and at least make others think about things. If people want to disagree with me fine but at least try and back it up with facts.}
