It's on the BBC rumours page that Hendry is a £10m target for Aston Villa. Surely it would make financial sense to pull out all the stops to get him back, maybe give him a pre-season run and then punt him ourselves. I know the Belgian mob have the option to sign him for £2m but the player has a say in that too, surely we could sweeten the deal for him in some way to get him back and then punt him ourselves?

If EPL teams are looking at him and for that kind of money, then maybe we should be giving the boy a chance. He didn't get of to the best of starts but there's a player there and he's ours already, so will be zero outlay, other than a possible contract extension.

Aye, genius idea! So sell him to Oostende for peanuts, then watch them sell him to EPL side for 10 million, potentially. What could possibly go wrong 🤔.

There's an article on him on BBC's Scottish football section today that states Wolves and Weirder Bremen are interested in addition to Burnley. He also stated in that article "if Celtic want to keep me, that's something they would need to make a decision on". To me that sounds like he's open to coming back for another shot. With the reviews he's getting I'd definitely bring him back for the new manager to have a look at and if he doesn't like him, ship him out to one of the other suitors for more than we've agreed with Oostende.
I hear there's a clause in the contract for them to buy him if they want. However, if we said to Hendry we'd bump his wages and extend by a year or two we could probably get round that as the player needs to sign off on a permanent move too. He could be a dud but he appears to be making waves over there and the interest from other teams shows he could be worth another look.

Agree with Buzz, if figures are true, everybody is a winner. Hopefully insert our own wee sell on clause too just in case he comes good. Good luck to him.

@Quinn1888 even if they do have the reported 40% sell on fee, it'll only apply to the net profit after deducting our initial £9m so we would still make a £5.4m profit even if we only got £18m.
Anyway, punt him and the others at the earliest opportunity. Take what we can get now and plan the rebuild. Get a new manager in and the players he wants as soon as the next window opens so we don't have another start of the season European hiccup.
