Funny feeling penny pinching going to come into play. Time to watch this inadequate board to make another disaster keep out the showers please.

Chalky67

1.) 26 Feb 2021 00:41:58
Not a chance of any penny pinching, We are going to see Dermot react like he did after the Semi defeat
We will see a total overhaul of the squad once the new DOF and Coach comes in.

2.) 26 Feb 2021 06:21:46
I hope your right Jonbhoy but I think celtic will go the cheap option again though.

3.) 26 Feb 2021 09:29:26
There is a lot of anxiety mixed with the excitement of a new manager because of the number of baffling and damaging decisions that were made time after time to get us to this low point.
Everything would suggest a huge shake-up with a top manager; however we have had 12 months of financial hardship and a reputation for over caution and even penny-pinching; so we can only hope the imminent sales of expected departures can compensate? Who knows for sure?

4.) 26 Feb 2021 10:10:02
It's a frustrating concept that DD apparently only seems to do what's best for Celtic when we're in a bad place. I don't know how much truth is in that but surely he'd prefer for us to have a quality manager all the time?

5.) 26 Feb 2021 11:08:42
If we sell most of the players expected to leave we could have 60 odd million. Not to say that will all be spent on new players but even half of that could tempt a top quality manager in the door.

6.) 26 Feb 2021 12:33:33
You would think so Kev but if you look at our last manager and even the way he was appointed with NO other candidate looked at or considered then I don't think anyone could claim that the club always wanted the best.

7.) 26 Feb 2021 12:44:19
I really think that talk was just Lawwell bluster Tony.

8.) 26 Feb 2021 13:33:11
I’ve never understood WTF Lawell was doing in the shower anyway.

9.) 26 Feb 2021 15:37:36
Penny pinching will result in 57,000 season tickets becoming 30,000 season tickets. I won’t be renewing if Kennedy gets the job.
I’m self employed and will have to seriously think about renewing due to the C.V. situation. If the board are prepared to stick their fingers up at me with a cheap appointment then I’ll be returning the sentiment.

10.) 26 Feb 2021 15:55:25
Even if we sell out top assets in the summer for the fees being suggested, the manager won't get anywhere close to half. The reason I say that is due to how deals tend to be structured, i. e. some money up from, with the rest in installments over the coming years.

11.) 26 Feb 2021 16:55:56
I reckon we’ll lose around 12 of the current first team squad in the summer. That’s a huge rebuild for any manager, and if we’re waiting on McKay to come to appoint a DoF, before we appoint a manger, we can kiss goodbye to the CL and perhaps congratulate them on two in a row.
Then consider that we are unlikely to get the real value of Eddie and Ajer, so there’s less money from transfers to bring in 12 good players. The club needs to grow a pair and take on debt to get us back where we want to be.
Think we also need Desmond to take charge and appoint someone ahead of McKay.

12.) 28 Feb 2021 17:35:03
If DD takes on the job personally of appointing a D. O. F. and a Manager then there will be no penny pinching.

He has not failed us yet and I'm sure will appreciate the need to get back on track to prevent the monkey's from adding a 2nd league title in their short history.

Ferguson team talk kick them off the park see starfelt bottled it against there striker let him score yet again another headed goal against him come back jullien as soon as possible need him back bombscare starfelt.

Chalky67

1.) 22 Jan 2022 19:27:36
Starfelt wasn’t marking sammon at the goal Welsh was.

2.) 22 Jan 2022 19:31:25
Thought it was Welsh that was at fault for the goal?

{Ed007's Note - Don't confuse things, it's always Starfelt's fault when we concede.}

3.) 22 Jan 2022 19:39:49
He was between the two of them and salmon wasn't even tracked by starfelt I don't trust him too weak lost too many goals against him julien would be all over salmon as he was waiting for one chance and any good defender would be on him like glue and marked him out the game starfelt bombscare.

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure Buzz can check this but I took a note for the pod - live at 19:00 tomorrow night for anyone that doesn't know ? Before tonight 13 of Starfelt’s 26 appearances have ended in clean sheets and 19 of those 26 have ended in victories. When Carter-Vickers and Starfelt have played together 16 times we have won 13, drawn 2 and lost 1 - Real Betis away -
9 of those 16 were clean sheets we scored 34 and conceded 10, 4 against Betis.}

4.) 22 Jan 2022 19:43:43
True Ed. Startfelt should have lept 10 ft in the air beating all standing jump world records to block the cross getting to sammon.

{Ed007's Note - He just seems to be the current whipping boy and even though he's not been THAT consistent he's not anywhere near as bad as some people make out. He had Kevin Nesbitt - a player a lot of fans want to sign in his back pocket the other night but nobody's mentioning that.}

5.) 22 Jan 2022 19:56:50
Wow I'm not starfelts biggest fan but can't argue with stats like that! Cheers ed.

{Ed007's Note - I just hope they're right lol.}

6.) 22 Jan 2022 19:58:48
Welsh was at fault Starfelt boo boy I take it? Thuggish opponents job done.

7.) 22 Jan 2022 19:58:50
Great stats ED, maybe some people will get off Starfelt's back after reading that, I doubt it though.

{Ed007's Note - Probably not, Jon.}

8.) 22 Jan 2022 20:02:08
Why is it when we concede a headed goal its always Starfelts fault. The guy played well today. I really think the pitch made it harder for us, Rogic struggled to get the ball from under his feet. Once again a red card was not taken out, maybe we should write a letter!

9.) 22 Jan 2022 20:03:10
Starfelt had made a move out wide to close the runner and Scales had come inside to cover. Starfelts run was because Scales was further up the park. Starfelt had zero to do with Alloas goal.

10.) 22 Jan 2022 20:15:18
Welsh was closest to the boy that scored so what's it got to do with starfelt.

11.) 22 Jan 2022 20:18:32
It's funny how starfelt gets blamed yet again even though it's not his fault but no one mention the amount of missed chances both jacko and Maeda missed tonight. Don't matter what starfelt does he will get pelters on here while other get no criticism.

LG was a real asset and his link play with eddy was awesome but Lennon was to soft as treated him like a mate and he got away with loads the rot set in and he became unitrested on his day what a player he was pity wasted his opportunity as people still believed in him sad he didn't because once its gone its done he won't get another club like celtic I can still remember tying the scarf round the goal post and singing rangers are dead good memories super super leigh.

God willing we’ll get in for Hibs game on that date but I wouldn’t bet my life on it.

Micheal Stewart who is he to comment of ange signings surley he should give them a chance not say there not welcome as it should be Scottish players look at the English league doesn't stop them what the guys beef any player who wants to come and play for the hoops is welcome regardless what country very rude man should be ashamed he should go a boil his napper silly man.

Chalky67

1.) 03 Jan 2022 11:50:15
Celtic sign players regardless of colour creed nationality unlike a certain club, how you can spin a negative after signing 3 good players is beyond me, a usually don't mind him but this is nonsense.

{Ed007's Note - Michael Stewart said nothing remotely racist from what I've seen, he's talking about keeping our identity as a Scottish/British Club and having players around the team that "get" Celtic and the Scottish/British game, your McGregors, Ralstons etc, buying the best young talent in the league or we can afford from England while producing our own youngsters. And not filling the majority our team with foreign players that see us only as a potential stepping stone to the Pub League after 2 years
Plus he says it's good for the national team which even though I couldn't give a stuff about it is still a valid point for a guy in the media to make.}

2.) 03 Jan 2022 12:12:51
Agree ed nothing racist was portrayed as a negative, celtic have supported the national team more than any team in decades and we've got a strong core at the minute, every club signed foreign players sevco have more than most just not Japanese.

{Ed007's Note - ?

3.) 03 Jan 2022 12:25:01
Ed

I have no issue with foreign players.

The days of European success with a team full of players within a 40 mile radius are gone.

If the four Japanese lads help us win the league I’ll be as delighted.

But I agree with Michael Stewart and think it’s a fair point that it’s preferable to have a quorum of Scottish players to maintain our identity.

We knew Burns, Grant, McStay and Boyd et al felt our pain.

The disconnect at the club with the fan base is bad enough when we have a board that don’t ‘get’ what Celtic are about.

{Ed007's Note - Spot on, JFP and probably worded better than me ??

4.) 03 Jan 2022 12:31:19
I agree ED. I am as excited as anyone, and looking forward to seeing the four samurai playing for Celtic. But I also know they will come and go just like the Dembele’s, Edouards Forsters etc. Scottish Football, as it has developed over the past 10 to 15 years is only seen as a stepping stone to somewhere else by a lot of players and managers. That’s unfortunately the reality and it doesn’t help Scottish Football as a whole. That’s all Stewart was saying.
?.

{Ed007's Note - ?

5.) 03 Jan 2022 12:47:55
Maybe Ange will take note and sign Hickey in the summer ?.

6.) 03 Jan 2022 13:54:07
Quorum, nice one JFP.

Not sure I pay much attention to what any 'pundit' actually says or writes as ultimately their comments are made to ensure they continue earning a living.

I'd love for us to have a first team squad of players who all came through our own academy, but if we had 11 first team Martians on the park, playing attractive, winning football I could live with that ?

☘ ? ☘ ? ☘.

They came for ange because of his playing style and kygo has been a hit this or these players will rip defences wide open as they play ange style in Japan and he knows these players strengths I can see us destroying teams as we know we did not have a big enough squad now ange can put what he wants and let's see what happens a full fit team won't be to far away we have 2 top goal scorers already and jota who is awesome the team is becoming another cracker to watch.
