Guys, I genuinely think BR has no intention of extending his contract. He will be here until next may/ June. He will have come back, recognised he had unfinished business and I am sure he will lead us to 56. The constraints at Celtic are clear. We have to plan ahead.

Neil Lennon for a 3rd time. It's the easy option ?.

Devil's Advocate here. Hope he does get the 56 before that mob does but what if he doesn't? Will he be here until he gets one more over them as he'll have more unfinished business to do?

I've got a funny feeling that Postecoglou will return one day, maybe after Rodgers has another year up here.

Business in this transfer window (both ways) could give an indication of what could influence his decision either way. However, I always thought he made a declaration on his return that it was for 3 years.
A better run in Europe and further domestic success against yet another Sevco manager may be his final bow.

He will sign an extension if the Board give him what he wants for this transfer window.

Europe is what he's after games like bayern stimulate him so hopefully we get a good run this year.

The Board may know BR’s plans after his contract expires next summmer . However 12 mths is a long time in football and neither Board or BR want to actually commit themselves to something starting in 12 mths .
Board maybe aware B R wants to leave in a year and maybe busy planning for that situation. It’s easy to talk about such planning but it is exceptionally difficult to really have a concrete agreement with a much sought off manager to come in force in a years time .
If we had Director of Football, he may bring stability, but again if we were too successful D o F could be lured away with a big bucks EPL, offer
Our best hope is to get Ange and B R to work together in 3 year cycles as Manager / DoF.

Thing is, Wee Des, if AP is in a helluva good job and is motivated where he is, do you think he'd step down to come back to Celtic? We've been pretty lucky with managers over the past few years and that's down pretty much to DD. I know some on here would fancy Davie Moyes but he's not for me. There, we're speculating on who's going to be replacing BR before we all know whether he'll be away in a year's time or not.

{Ed007's Note - I don't see Ange ever managing Celtic again, why would he want to? He's been here, used the Celtic job as a stepping stone to the richest league in the world and will now be looking for his next adventure - maybe Spain, even Turkey or the riches of the Saudi League. I'll be surprised if he manages another English club tbh.}

Ed, do you think Ange's potential is higher or greater than BR's? Cos I do, by far.

{Ed007's Note - I think just with Rodgers name & reputation, his time in the limelight as such in the Pub League and his ties to that league that he will always will be held in a higher regard than Ange- who turns 60 this year so that's going against him for potential - and who is seen as a bit of a flash in the pan by the English media and possibly only as a short term option by clubs, maybe a newly promoted team or a club battling relegation in a few months might fancy him to gee things up a bit. There's no way say a club like Brentford would consider Ange to replace Frank, he doesn't suit that type of set-up and a lot of those mid-level PL clubs are ran that way, more a head coach role. The EL win is massive for him to have on his CV, especially at a club like Spurs so that might get teams on the continent interested.
I don't think either of them will ever get a "top" job, although Rodgers has years in front of him, but I do think if there was a job going, especially in the Pub League, and it was between Rodgers & Ange then Rodgers would get it.}

ED007 my thoughts too, he used us then walked away for CASH (no problem in that but the way he did it left a sour taste)
If present Board still in place no way will they even consider him
You saw Pedro and the other Board members faces on his last game for us they were all like thunder.

{Ed007's Note - ????

I'm actually surprised at that Ed, but fair comment.

At least ange waited until the end of the season to leave but I don't think we will see him back at celtic as manager.

BR will do what benefits BR, he doesn't care about Celtic, other than to raise his profile,

I was obviously meaning if he was still without a club he would return, not if he had went to another club, I'd take his football over Rodgers backwards, sideways boredom any day of the week and twice on a Sunday.

Personally am keeping an eye on Craig Bellamy at Wales, so far he’s doing really well and he’s mentioned how much he loved his time at Celtic. doesn’t seem the type to mess about with, you never know.

I am sure every reasonably successful manager will do what suits them best . It would be the height of stupidity for any Manager to put a club ahead of himself or even his family .
Most managers know that a wee spell of bad results and they know they are in trouble .
I mention the Ange BR rotating 2 or 3 year Director of Football / Manager as 2 people who have recent success at Celtic and yet nobody sees either committing themselves long time to Dir of Football .
We can be certain sure if either of these or anyone else were successful Directors of Football, the pub league moneyed clubs would have them away within months.
