Great atmosphere last night and the fans need to be congratulated on that. Think we did not too badly though at times we were outplayed. Agree with what most of the posters say on here but we are kidding ourselves on if we think we're a Champions League team.

We're a Scottish team in a sub-standard league in European terms. We are a large fish in a small pond and Desmond and Lawwell know that - with the team we've got and with the money that the other clubs aren't getting, we'll walk the league every year. Sevco are panicking as the MUST win the title next season and they're gearing things up for a God Almighty fight.

At best we'll qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions Leage - at worst we should do well in the Europa League that's probably why BR isn't being backed by the Board to the extent he would like to be. But, by having a squad that keeps on winning domestically and with annual squad pruning and replacing we should stay well ahead of the other Scottish teams. Self-implosion is what's to be avoided at all costs.

I didn't think the atmosphere was great last night, from 10mins in until around 75mins it was poor. I know the way the game goes determines the atmosphere, but IMO Celtic Park has lost a bit of the atmosphere it had in Euro nights through the 2000's. Probably down to, mobile phones, social media etc.

I can’t believe that the Board want Celtic to play and possible do well in the Championship league. It’s not too long ago since the big Leagues and UEFA were planning to have Champions League entirely, or as good, for themselves.
Peter L, fought day and night to have teams from the lesser leagues to still have a place in Champions League. He hardly did that for Dutch and Croatian teams or for the dead team, but doubtlessly did it with Celtic in mind .

I agree that the Board in the past were reluctant to buy players of the quality and quantity that was required to do well in Europe. However I think that Ange and now BR has managed for us to buy a better standard of player and more of them than in past . In fact BR claims that he has last word on transfers in, surely that means we were likely to sign more players but BR rejected some because he preferred to wait until. better came along.

I think this is particularly true of striker in January, we couldn’t get 1st and possibly 2nd and more choices over line and BR didn’t want to be fobbed off with inferior and turned down any others that recruitment team offered to him preferring to try again in summer.

Ive listened to this nonsene for years about not being a CL team. By very definition we are a CL team. If you are in the competition then you are, if your not then obv your not. The previous CL format groups of 4 seriously curtailed the next level of clubs apart from the elite. This new format similar to a league campaign shows that the elite can be beaten at times, the final placings proved that. However i think we will still have the usual suspects there tho the Man City/ Madrid throws a spanner in the works which the new format provides. With a favourable draw a next level team is capable of winning it now which wasnt there before.

We gave them to much respect in the first half. Nobody marking Kane at the back post was terrible. A better second half display as we didn't sit back and watch them! .

I was sick at the time at Kane been left unmarked at the back post . But I have thinking afterwards and although it is still inexcusable, I think BM would be constantly working on their corners and would have several different routines available to them . With the quality of footballers they have, they would have different players who could hit a ten pence hanging from a string in front of the goals from the corner.
