What’s the chances of there being an Atlantic European League happening or something similar?
( It was previously mentioned years ago )
I think that’s the only way Sevco can generate any decent money in the next 5 to 10 years.
I don’t think they will be guaranteed European Group stage football soon because they will soon need to win all 3 European Qualifying Ties.
(Due to them being in Conference League Qualifiers)
It’s looking like Celtic ( If Champions ) would only need to win one European tie out of a possible 3 ties, to be guaranteed future Group Stages.
(Would need to lose all 3 European ties to miss out)
Provided Scotland finish outside the Top 15 in the Association Coefficient Table.
Scotland were recently in 17th place for the season after next.
{Ed007's Note - The Atlantic League thing will, never happen now and TRIFC would need to get their act together BIG time before they would even be considered to be asked to join any ESL.
As it stands they simply wouldn't meet the criteria to be invited, you won't be allowed in if you are skint and need the money from the league to make the grade and compete there, you'll need to have the infrastructure and the finances in place to take part.}

Blueco aren’t a big club they are a new club. Martin is getting paid to talk baloney.

I’ve never seen the appeal of an Atlantic league, pretty sure it’s further away than ever now though. For the simple reason that the ESL is on the horizon, this years Champions League is the first step. It’s 8 games this year, soon it will be 10, then 12, etc, the big clubs will get their way.
My issue with these things has always been that they are unmeritocratic. When they start inviting or cherry picking clubs rather than have them qualify I’ll stop watching and that’s whether Celtic are in it or not.
As long as there is still a pathway to the league based on merit then I’m ok with that. Qualification wise, that’s up to us, but if we’re not good enough then we don’t deserve to be there.
{Ed007's Note - I don't think we'll live long enough to see that closed shop idea - no offence to younger guys I just think that's so far away now that it might never happen.
I do 100% agree that the CL will be expanded as we move forward with more games, and the domestic games will need to adjust accordingly - what if the CL becomes that, just a league, running concurrently with the domestic leagues through out the season with no Last 16 or QFs etc? - could we see an end point where weekends are for domestic football and midweek is for European fixtures, what future is there for domestic cups if the fixture schedule is so packed with everything and then then international breaks thrown into the mix.}

CL, Europa, and Conference IMO will in due course become equivalent of Prem, Div 1&2 in Europe and run all season alongside domestic leagues. Current domestic third competition (league cup) will be for teams who aren’t in European set up. Scottish cup may still be open to clubs involved in Europe, if timetable allows.

The idea of a North Atlantic league was first muted as an alternative to the CL which although financed by the rest of us plebs, only catered for the 5 countries with the biggest tv audience. EU competition law would probably make CL illegal if challenged due to the vast number of non champions in it.

The existing European competitions will continue to expand and squeeze the domestic game, the domestic game will have no choice but to adapt as the clubs will choose money. The English league might provide resistance since they have the money, which will slow the whole thing down. Given the new format has just come in, it’ll probably be a while before the next changes come in.
