If young Kelly decides his future lies elsewhere then good luck to him. He will no doubt be influenced by the wages offered to the likes of Vata. Again that is entirely his perogative. I'm surmising somewhat but guess he had been offered around £4k pw and can get double that from a "Watford ". Where I struggle is where boys like this target money ahead of playing for their boyhood team, like Doak. They might never ever ever get the chance again and that will 100% be a regret. Guys like Moussa, Ledley, Hart get it, we are more than a football team- we are a Club.

Right, the boy will obviously make his decision just like Vata did. I have no problem with that at all as I feel our young players don't have a pathway into the first team. However, at the same time. and I know it's contradictory but Brendan saying that Vata would have been our third striker and that Kelly would have been playing does not bode well for signings. I know we can't have both. youngsters progression and good quality signings. Can we? Thoughts?

Chinks because they know they won't get game time and see a succession of average to crap players coming in every season further hindering they're chance if moving into first team.

Perhaps neither Vata or Kelly are good enough to get regular game time with the first team at CP ?

It's a sad state of affairs because they shouldn't be playing lowland league football should they!
4 year contracts at 16, get them loaned out to feeder clubs early or to a decent standard side, allow them to get matches under their belts and the age they both are now (vata and kelly) then they would either be knocking on brendans door for game time as good enough or we sell and make profit on them, instead of losing them for soft money.
It's maybe hard for the likes of you and I saying this because we would love to play for celtic, maybe the lads don't actually support celtic, its just the best academy in their area to be playing for at their age.
That b team however needs scrapped, get the lads on loan to feeder teams and there should at least be a feeder team or links for Scottish clubs too.
We have lost quite a bit of talent in recent years, however look at the young lads who progress, Watson at kilmarnock prime example, mates nephew in same youth team as him, he was good but not top of their youth side, however had the right attributes and mentality, gets given a chance and takes it, keeps working hard keeps getting game time, celtic won't allow youth players this chance we want every title every time, we don't rely on youth players becoming top players in order to sell and keep the club in the right side of the balance sheet, but we could quite easily if we do have the majority of best young players in Scotland who could be loaned early for vital game time to spl clubs, playing against gretna one week and then dalbeattie the next isn't the answer.

If Kelly and Vata were good enough they would have been played a lot oftener . BR had spells last season when wins were hard. to get and especially during those spells he was certain to play the best players available to try to get the very difficult results. There was a time last season when Vata was hawked all over Europe looking for a club, and he has to settle for unfashionable Watford.
