Jamie,
Although our recruitment recently has been very poor,
I don't think the club is losing the absolute fortunes you and me were thinking.

Celtic have basically downsized and done nearly everything on the cheap.

I picked out 18 players who have no future at Celtic and they have only cost a combined €24M which is about £21M according to Transfermarkt.

Also according to Sportsalary,
We're paying our new players and others a below average salary for a Celtic player.
I'm not sure how accurate this site is but it's got Celtic paying quite a few of our players about £7K a week.

It might be easier to move a few players on, if they're not receiving the £16K a week which was reported.

The recruitment has been a mess but it's not a total disaster because it's all been done on the biscuit tin cheap.

Thanks Buzz, that makes Sense but if possible I would still like to know how much we have spent on fees for players that haven't played. We have a massive squad maybe we will never know but appreciate your help.

Unfortunately, this coincides with Lawell and Son running the show and I can't see things improving in the near future as there is a total opposite set of values and ambition between them and us.
I dread to think what it would take to oust them, but if we carry on this rocky road of quantity over quality, we will find out soon enough. There is much talk of what we need to buy in the new year, but I also worry that we could receive large bids for a player or two in January ourselves and our Board have form in that area.

Jamie, The 18 players I looked at are -

Siegrist, Bain, Kobayashi and McCarthy were all Free.

Phillips and Bernardo are loan deals

Welsh, Johnstone and Forrest came through Youths.

Iwata €960, Kwon €1M, Tilio €1.75M
Yang €2.5M, OH €2.8M, Holm €3M
Lagerbjelke €3.4M, Bernabei €4.35M, Nawrocki €5

That’s 18 players that would struggle to get a game with a fully fit squad and they only cost about €24M.

Thank Buzz as always a font of knowledge, now add salaries into to that over the tenure of contract unless moved on that's a few more million. For me a very poor management of funds. Thanks again for your reply. Hopefully we hit some form and rethink our strategy soon.

Jamie, either to a much greater or maybe a little less every trading club will either accumulate far more or maybe similar amounts .
How we would know we had poor management of funds would be continuously signing players 24/ 25 -28 who were not getting first team places in teams of our level or worse . It would be easily argued that our recruitment team shouldn’t have high expectations. If we are buying under 23 yr old who play fairly regular for a team of approximately our standard then this for me should yield good management of funds . Like a farmer buying animals only hindsight can be certain about bringing in a new player . Young players won’t build a whole team for u but they should help to build a successful squad.
