@Ed037, do you think Celtic should go for a loan deal for Man City's attacking midfielder James McAtee, 19 goals and 7 assists this season for Man City's under 23's.

{Ed037's Note - AGG,James McAtee is is highly talented youngsters in the Manchester City Academy . IMO James needs to consider his future at Manchester City because to help his career progress he needs to be playing and unfortunately for him Man City have some of the best players in their Squad and Manager who'd prefer to spend big money on players rather than promote youth players. Phil Foden is the only Man City youth player who has broke into the first team under Pep since he arrived at City. Considering the good relationship Celtic had with Man City in the past, Mark Lawell would be crazy not to explore the possibility of taken James to Celtic on loan. Celtic now have a manager who has proven this season he makes players better and isn't afraid to trust youths. Not just James McAtee but I'd say Mark would be looking at a lot of young players that would be a good fit for Celtic . I've noticed that Celtic fans on here going on about a new goalkeeper. In the Man City ranks they have Gavin Okeroghene Bazunu a young 20yr Irish international currently on loan at Rochdale. A brilliant goalkeeper and modern goalkeeper. If you guys Don't fancy Tobi then Gavin for me . But keep faith in Tobi

I could b wrong but weren't Celtic looking at bazunu before he went to man city.

{Ed037's Note - no your not wrong Cmc, when Bezunu was at Shamrock Rovers Celtic thought they had him signed up. But Man City came in at the last minute and swiped him from under the nose of Celtic. What happened with this deal, simple Man City had a plan for Bezunu and Celtic had nothing concrete in front of him. Man City have now appointed Irish coach and former Rochdale Manager Brain-Barry Murphy as head of elite development squad and development. Murphy brought Bezunu to Rochdale last season and I presume he will be keen on keeping him at Man City next season. But if Bezunu wants to retain the Irish No1 Jersey next season playing under 23s at Man City isn't going to help him. Only last week he said now he's got a taste for first team football and wants to be playing more regularly I'd expect him to go out on loan next season. I can't see Man City selling him

Thanks for your insight Ed037, let's hope Mark Lawell does consider James as his stats seem pretty impressive.

{Ed037's Note - I'm quite excited about this appointment AGG, Mark Lawell was just working for Man City. He was involved in all the City football group teams. I can only imagine what kind of contacts Mark has now. Best thing about Peter Lawell leaving is that we got his son now. Because if Peter was still CEO of Celtic Mark would never had come.

{Ed037's Note - your right Cmc, when Bezunu was at Shamrock Rovers, Celtic thought that they had him signed up. But at the last minute Man City came in and snapped him from under Celtic’s nose. In the end it was what Man City presented to the player. A proper plan development and pathway to the first team. What Celtic offered simply wasn't good enough as we all now our youth academy at the time was a shambles. Unfortunately Celtic have missed their chance to sign Bezunu I'm afraid. City have appointed Irish coach and former Rochdale manager Brian Barry Murphy as Head of elite development squad. Having brought Bezunu to Rochdale I'd imagine he'd want to keep him. But if Bezunu wants to retain the Irish No 1 Jersey, he will have to be playing regular first team football as under 23s at Man City isn't going to help him. I expect him to go out on loan again next season as Man City see him as their future No1 goalkeeper. A fabulous goalkeeper but not at Celtic.

I thought the appointment of Mark Lawwell could be a winner on several fronts, not least due to the working relationship he and Ange already share, but also the plethora of highly talented young players at City and the other clubs owned by the group, who's talents ate unlikely to see the light of day in their first team.

On young Tobi, he's apparently highly rated, personally it's Bain I'd like moved on to make way for a No 2 who can push Hart as opposed to being a highly paid cheerleader.

We'll with interest.

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed037's Note - Bain is here to stay I'm afraid. Hazard and Barkas will be moved on. Keeper's next season are Hart, Tobi and Bain and I'd be happy with that. Celtic Don't need another keeper because it will only hinder Tobi development. I'd expect Tobi to get more game time next season instead of Bain. We could also see him in pre aswel. Highly regarded by Ange, Woods and Hart. Don't sign another keeper would be my message to Ange because I'd hate to see Tobi leave because he is being pushed down the ladder and development will not progress

Ed037 (feel like I'm cheating on Mark typing those numbers ?)

Thank you for the reply and I understand your rationale, I also appreciate that Bain has signed a new deal.

If Tobi gets more game time and in turn can get the opportunity to develop, that's good enough for me ?

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed037's Note - I can only imagine how you guys feel about typing ED0037, but the man himself Ed007 needs a wee break after a long season on here. I was only glad to help Ed007. He'll be back soon and I'll be back to my own forum page down south.
Pedro that's my whole point about keeping Bain is so Tobi will his chance and develop into a top keeper for Celtic. Going out on loan is no benefit at the moment for Tobi because you have the experience of Joe Hart and the club. And Tobi training with him week in and week out will only benefit him. A back up keeper is back up for a reason. Not good enough to be your no1 for the whole season but will do a job when call up if needed. Celtic will have to pay money for a back up better than but the problem is this. Take Seagrist from Dundee united great goalkeeper and on free transfer now. Is he better than joe Hart, the answer is no. Is he better than Bain yes. So can you honestly see Seagrist coming to Celtic to sit on the bench, the answer to that is no. That's why I think Bain will stay because I can't see Celtic spend money on a goalkeeper to sit on the bench. The next part to the question about Seagrist is Tobi. At the moment yes Seagrist is better because of experience. But in 1 or two year's Tobi will be a better goalkeeper and more than likely your No1 Down south especially spurs their raging ,Celtic snapped up Tobi.
