Hello All

As we all know. Celtic have a very set / precise business model eg wage structure, are a selling club etc. and whether we like it or not they are unlikely to change this anytime soon.

On transfers for coming season. assuming we sign both CCV and Jota I honestly think we will only then sign another 1 or 2 players (hope I'm wrong) .
During C.V. with no extra income, possibly still paying players who took wage reduction etc these are some of the reasons I think the board will be very cautious this season.

Obviously I'm aware of the champions League money and player sales etc

If / when some of the so called deadwood players are moved on, yes it will free up some wages but there's no doubt we will make a massive loss on many of these players who we might have to pay off, get small transfer fee or no fee at all.

Overall in my opinion we have a very well run club, well financed and are unlikely to go bust.
Yes, the board have made mistakes and hopefully long term they will learn from them.

If you look at many football clubs around the UK and rest of the world they have huge amounts of debt, would probably go bust if they didn't have a mega rich owner with questionable histories.

If rumoured fees are accurate, the club spent the guts of £25M last season without CL money and still ended up with a £9M profit when compared to our player sales. There's no point in standing still and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by our transfer business Brian. Ange has already shown he can find a gem without having to spend big.

Was the Jota and CcV not included in that £25 million that we spent? I think it was so therefore as yet we haven't spent anything so far this year.

No mate, not unless there was a couple of million in loan fees. I've seen it roughly broken down as follows:

Kyogo - £4.5M
Starfelt - £4M
Hart - £1M
JJ - £2M
Abada - £3.5M
Hatate - £1.5M
Guchi - £1M
O'Riley - £1.5M
Maeda - £2M
GG - £3M

Like I said, that's IF the above are reasonably accurate, but who knows? Could also be looking at a wee bit more with guys like Uroghide, Kenny etc.

BrianG you made some valid statements. personally I can't see (and hope) Ange doesn't bring in too many new faces 1because the wage bill would be approaching the ceiling,2 we owe thanks to the squad who got us where we are now and they should be shown loyalty 3 young up and coming players need to have a focus that there's an incentive to possibly achieve 1st team consideration.

We only really need another CB and LB if we sign Jota and CCV tbf.

I would like a decent back-up goalkeeper for big Joe.

We don't owe any loyalty to current squad. They get paid very well for the privilege to play for Celtic. 95% of that squad would be away if the money was better for them. Its professional football. The Celtic plc have a duty to the support to try and improve the playing squad.

Yep lads an enforcer calmac can trust so he can concentrate slightly forward.
Holding midfielder who has a shot and can tackle plus take the load of our defenders.
Holding midfielder.
left back
right back

Thats if vickers and jota sign.
But I under stand players have to be sold as well.
So another 2 or 3 but better than we have.
But to be honest im just leaving it to ange he knows best and a lot better than us let's see what preseason does to a few of the player.
look what he has done with this team in a very short time. So I don't want to single out any first team players.
