Results are just in from the litmus test - it doesn't look good - it's showing deep, deep brown! Probably from the pony 'n' trap that was us tonight from all sections of our team.

They were a decent side - no more. Athletic, organised and hungry. We were not at the races although we showed some endeavour it just wasn't enough tonight. We will seriously have to up our game over there if we have any chance at all.

Quite a few "I told you so" comments from us tonight on this site. But let me tell you as a Celtic fan I don't dream at night about taking beatings, I don't dream at night about being second best and I don't dream at night about us walking off the pitch in abject misery. Being a fan isn't about reality - if it was I'd be miserable all my life! I usually just wait for that after the 90 minutes in Europe ties! But there is nothing wrong with being a dreamer - but I'm not the only one.

If I can take any positives from that game then it is that Benfica will have seen Jota tonight and been given a lot of confirmation bias about his ability.

Is the tie over? No. Have we a mountain to climb? Yes. Can we play as bad as that again? Hope not. Is this a diddy cup anyway? I'll let you know after the second leg!

Stubbsie. I agree we were not at the races, we were not there last week either and not their for the second half against Aberdeen,
