Does anyone think we'll try and wrap up a permanent deal for Jota before the summer? I've heard a lot of people saying we should try but you might find he wants to enjoy his football and keep his options open.

{Ed007's Note - I would like us to do it, Kev but it isn't going to happen. The Club aren't going to tie themselves to that financial output when they don't need to for another 8/9 months.}

@ED007 and Kevbhoy yes our Board are not noted for forward planning. Best we fans can hope for is Big Ange pushes for Jota to be signed permanently in January transfer window having proved he can handle our Scottish winter and poor pitches.
Heard Celtic have agreed first option of a £6m transfer fee and read Jota only on about £3k weekly with Benfica so wages should not be a problem if we offered boy £10k - £15k a week
it is also up to Jota, but he seems to be enjoying Scotland so far.
So Bankier come January get Jota signed.

{Ed007's Note - He won't be signed permanently in January either and remember the player has to agree to the deal as well. What do you think Ange would say if the board said to him in January, we can finalise and pay the first installment of the Jota fee and all the associated costs or sign X player you are wanting, or you can sign X player and wait until summer to finalise the Jota deal?
Why spend money - taking it away from elsewhere - when you don't need to?}

I agree the Board will have 'spent their allowance' for this year and may even have potential irons in the fire for January; but I think if his form and popularity continues to grow, we could have competition for his services if we wait until next summer?

Total agreement with yourself Ed. It's a bit of a tightrope because he could go off the boil after Christmas and we could end up not signing him. Also, like I said, he might not want to commit yet and just bide his time which might put some fans' noses out of joint. So far, he's been great and seems to be really enjoying his time here so fingers crossed it continues that way.

{Ed007's Note - ?

Will just end up being another Patrick Roberts scenario dragging on for the next few years.
