What are you havering about Bobo?
See this bull about us penny pinching regarding McGinn, it's getting really tiring.
If people actually looked into it you would see that we had agreed a deal with the club and the player but the player chose Villa because Rodgers wouldn't guarantee him playing time, He also mentioned that he chose them as he felt he had nothing else to prove.

Here I have found a few quotes from the player himself to help you out.
He said in an interview with the Sun:
“In Scotland, you can enter a comfort zone. I felt I had already developed a reputation there and felt it was important to prove I can play elsewhere. I’m ambitious, which is why I chose Villa. ”
He Also stated in a different interview:
In the end, it was a guarantee from then-Villa boss Steve Bruce that he would play "every" game that stuck in my mind.
“There was always going to be tinges of regret wherever I ended up, ” he told the BBC Scottish football podcast.
“It was important to weigh up everything and not just go with my heart because I had basically made up my mind I wanted to join Celtic.
“But I also had to weigh up in my mind how strong Celtic’s midfield had been for a long time.
I remember speaking to Brendan Rodgers and he said the important thing I would take from it was I would play games.
But Steve Bruce said I would play every game.
I was used to playing week in week out at Hibs and it was so important to me that that carried on.
A lot was made of it but I have spoken to Peter Lawwell since and I have huge respect for how he operates. ”

Maybe people will give it a rest about this penny pinching ballocks now.

Jonbhoy71 I posted similar quotes from McGinn some time ago but certain fans refuse to accept what he said because of their dislike of Lawwell.

All true lads. People forget the footballers need to look after
themselves as well.
Believing everything that newspapers say are we not over that yet.

Did the same thing not happen with Toney though? Maybe McGinn doesn't want to cause unrest at the team he supports by saying Lawwell changed the goal posts at the last minute to save a few quid.

BigBubs what you are saying is McGinn is telling lies.

Killy, I'm with you. What is it people need to believe that McGinn just wanted the assurance of game time?

The player himself has said on multiple occasions that he CHOSE to go to Villa, even though we offered him the chance to come to paradise.

Straight from the horse's mouth and people are still banging on about PL p1ssing away the chance to sign him. It's ludicrous!

Get him on a polygraph and sort it once and for all! But even then, I'm sure some folk on here will say the technician was in Lawell's pocket.

He said all of that after he signed with Villa. What people forget is he had in principal agreed to join Celtic and got fed up waiting on us making an an offer. That is also straight from his mouth. If we had acted quicker he would have signed for us as Villa only entered into the bidding late on.

It doesn't have to be one or the other guys. Did McGinn have the option to sign for Celtic? Yes. Did Lawwell make a total @rse of it all summer up until that point? Also Yes. It didn't happen, we just need to move on and hope the club learn from it.

Oldkilly I'm saying he potentially isn't telling the full picture of what went on. End of the day no one will know the truth other than those involved.

Lawwell done great things for Celtic but his interference in transfer dealings has resulted in us not building from a strong position on multiple occasions and the only quality manager since MON walking out on us.

Aye he may have said that in the end but Villa wouldn’t of even placed a bid if we offered what they wanted at the start it would have been signed sealed and delivered.
Obviously we thought we could hold Hibs to ransoms and pay less and it backfired when Villa showed they wanted him more.
It’s well known he’s a Hoops fan and these diplomatic comments were made AFTER he choose Villa.

It was the undroppable Scott Brown affect.
