I always found it shocking that the All-Time British goalscorer Jimmy McGrory only received 7 Scotland Caps.
McGrory scored nearly 550 goals for Celtic and he scored 6 goals for Scotland.

Its shocking stats Buzz. No doubt mediocre currant buns got selected. The McGrory stat is an embarrassment for The Scottish FA.

Would be interesting to see them beside the caps of other players of that era.

I know there was a period where a committee from The Establishment at the SFA picked the Scotland team and there were also Ex Rangers players who managed the national side in up until the 60's like Ian McColl and Bobby Brown? Although big Jock did have a caretaker role around the late 60's?

106 caps for the combined team. But, we are being paranoid that anti Celtic hate played a part.

In 1934/ 35 despite having scored over 50 goals in the season Jimmy McGrory was not picked to play against England!

LAW,
The Rangers starting lineup that lost the Cup Winners Cup final in 1967 had 51 more Scottish Caps than the Lisbon Lions and they only had 10 Scottish players.

Remember that players didn’t amass the same amount of caps as now a days. Don’t think they got caps for friendlies or for substitute appearances? So 20 odd is probably a decent tally from back then.
