Held off for 3 months waiting for a manager just to say no. Absolutely pathetic from the Celtic board, an utter embarrassment. These old Codgers need to get to grips with the new world it's 2021. These failings come solely on the issues they have created. Rangers have created a full reversal on our position and winning the league next year is an absolute must.

We are in a terrible state and this needs to be fixed. We're closer than ever to our most important season in a long time and can't even get a manager in at a club the size of ours. Shambles.

{Ed007's Note - What's pathetic from the Celtic board? They had an agreement with Howe and it collapsed from Howe's end, what were the board meant to do differently?
I blame Howe for this mess more than I do anyone at Celtic, all the board done was trust a man that had accepted the job but when push came to shove it was Howe's plans and demands that put the brakes on it.}

His Yokohama team finished 9th last season and are currently 4th in the league 18 points behind the leaders. The club will never move forward under the current regime. With regards to Howe whilst he has clearly messed us about. The board have allowed this to drag out without securing the deal. As soon as it was apparent there may be issues getting the deal done, we should have walked away and moved onto the next candidate.

{Ed007's Note - The board obviously thought they had their man and took him at his word, I think they realised over the last week or so that there might be problems and that's why the season ticket announcement was made the way it was. I'm just hoping that when they realised there might be problems with Howe that they opened up talks with other candidates.}

Yes I agree Ed007 Who to say Howe wife and kids maybe changed mind last minute? outwith our control I do think it’s from his end. I was never convinced over him so although surprised as seemed nailed on I can’t say I’m overly disappointed it just never seemed right fit to me
. I listened to first podcast last night ed007 And cork Paul. A big thumbs up 👍.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate 👍 I wasn't overly excited with the prospect of Howe coming in so I am not overly disappointed either that it's fell through.}

There should have been a precontract with Howe. The board have dropped the ball on this one.

No way should we have pur ourselves in a position were we waited over 3 months for a manager, just for him to decline at the last minute.

Ed they should have had the contract signed months ago. If he wasnt prepared to sign move on.
Then start working on backroom and 2nd choice backroom staff. They should never been in a position where they are waiting 3 months on a manager.
Thats a 1/ 3 of the season they have wasted if not more, then allowing all these players to leave at the once.
Its bad enough to lose the league but that's sport it can happen.
But what should never happen is the terrible decisions they have made and no forward planning.
Not too mention that we assumed there was work going on behind the scenes regarding recruitment etc.
I have backed the board and PL for 20 yrs as they have done brilliant for us but the last 2-3 yrs it looks like a couple of 10 yr olds have taken over we are that unproffessional.
I don't want someone running our club trying to save a few bucks on every deal I want soneone who gets the deal done.

{Ed007's Note - We all knew he wouldn't sign a contract until his Bournemouth one was expired and if it had came out that Celtic had told him to sign there or then or we move on there would be plenty of fans moaning about the board doing that as well, how unprofessional it made us look blah blah blah

I agree with what you’re saying Mark but in my opinion when the initial talks were held with Howe I would have wanted the board to get the deal signed and sealed. However If there were issues for example he was still on gardening leave or his demands of bringing in his own back room staff, which we’re going to delay the appointment then at that point we should have moved on to the next candidate. Instead we’re now 2 months down the line and the deal has collapsed.

{Ed007's Note - It's easy to say that with hindsight though, IC, but as I said Howe agreed to take the job and the board took him at his word. Supposing the board had done that and moved onto to the next candidate right away and he said he would be interested in the summer, just move on from him until we find someone that was either out of job or some lower league manager that we could afford compensation for?
Do you really think any manager worth their salt would have agreed to replace Neil Lennon and be responsible for losing the 10?}

3 months we’ve been waiting for a manager that’s why it’s a failing. The fans are in turmoil and annoyed. That’s a failing in its self.
