Now that Compper is gone it's had me thinking of the worst CB signings we've made over the years. From recent times I'm thinking :

Rafael Scheidt - was a disaster considering the fee. Pretty sure he had a solid career after he went back to Brazil though.

Du Wei - blatant attempt to gain a commercial foothold in China.

Compper - would love to know what the actual issue was.

Scheidt was a full back and has still got to be our worst player due to the transfer fee. We have had a few poor defenders over the years because we spent most of our money on attacking style players. The players I remember the most who were a disappointment were Lee Martin and Gary Gillespie.
I remember Gary got off to a great start scoring scoring early into his debut, I think against Falkirk. I missed the goal due to the big queues, trying to get into the Celtic end. It went downhill for Gary after his bright start. Tebily wasn’t much better.

Always remember Martin O’Neill’s comments on scheidt. He just can’t play, I thought he was just nervous but the boy can’t play lol.
