Ed, I know you don't think Diarra will come but I'd be interested what your thoughts on the signing would be if it came about. The thought of him, Brown and Johansen sounds good to me but would like to hear your thoughts

{Ed007's Note - The last time I seen him play regularly was 2 years ago with Real Madrid, so I've no idea how good he is these days. He's a free agent for a reason, Lokomotiv Moscow didn't release him, they sacked him and with 3 years still left on his deal so I'd imagine it isn't only financial reasons he doesn't have a club. He was refusing to train, bad-mouthing the manager and generally just being the total $hit he has been all his career.
Even if we could afford him I'd give it a wide berth, he's more trouble than he's worth, he's a brat along the same lines as Balotelli who is having the same sort of nomadic career as Diarra, the Frenchman is currently looking for his 8th club in his 10 year career. Cracking player in his day, Marty, but not for me at CFC now. I can see him causing problems and trying to get a move next summer whoever he signs for.}

Whether it's diarra or someone else I think we are looking at filling the weakest position in the side.we need someone to play beside brown who can do it properly. RD must feel kayal and mulgrew aren't the answer and doubt many would disagree.

Cheers ED, suppose what you are saying makes a lot of sense. I'm thinking about him in his Real days and seen that he is only 29 but I suppose there must be a reason why he would have no club. Our main priority should be a deal for Super John Guidetti anyway

{Ed007's Note - I totally agree with you about Guidetti, let's hope a deal can be struck with him. He won't be short of offers but I can see it coming down to between us and Feyenoord and we are in a position (or should be) to offer a better financial package then the Dutch team. Add the the fact they weren't prepared to take a risk on his fitness this summer following the big Swede's illness might have put his nose out of joint a bit with them. I definitely get the feeling his decision will be a footballing one before money comes into it.}
