Surely rather than playing the 3 champions league home games at murrayfield we and UEFA have the chance to do something special. Why don't we play the games in the USA. The NFL play at wembley each year to gain publicity and promote American football worldwide. Surely this would be a huge publicity generating machine for the Champions league and ourselves and would allow supporters abroad the chance to see a meaningful game rather than the insipid lacklustre friendlies they normally get. We regularly sell out American venues so there would be no problem with this.

Then you can be the one who asks a club (possibly a club already playing domestic football) if they would mind the nightmare of heading across the Atlantic rather than down the road to Edinburgh

@Rangobango UEFA have put kibosh on playing qualifiers outside Scotland.
Here is my idea, instead of fans having to travel to Edinburgh (Murrayfield) why not play games at closest SPFL ground, Fir Park Motherwell.
Yes I know ground only holds about 18,000 but these CL qualifiers rarely attract the 50,000/60,000 crowds anyway.
Benefit to fans no long journey, guaranteed full houses and good atmosphere. Timalloy

@2) The qualifiers don't attract 60,000 but they get in excess of 40 and the final play off round usually almost sells out so a lot if supporters would miss out. I don't think fir park is the answer personally, not big enough. Ideally it would hold more and with it being so close it would be perfect. I think it has to be Murrayfield

Aternoon Ed007, Timalloy could'nt agree more, using other grounds to, such as tannadice, maybe not popular but tynecastle and kilmarnock spreading the distance for travelling fans, I would like to think the board could make a gesture of reduced prices or kids free and use murrayfield .be gentle it's only a suggestion lol {Ed007's Note - Hi mate, happy Friday.}

I know uefa have put the stoppers on a venue outside of Scotland but I feel this is wrong and a mistake on their part. We could play the first round in somewhere like USA and really publicize Celtic but also the Champions league maybe an end result of more viewers in an emerging market for football. If its the first leg we could tack it on to the end of tour if the second it could be a beginning and have a money spinning glamour friendly after it

Sorry mate but how is your average die hard meant to afford three trips to the us.of a in such a small space of time or is it alright to forget the true fan for the sake of the global buck which with t.v and the like dictating the game is just a step after the step too far

One would be good for the club preferrably the first one Peter lawell is out in China trying to promote the club something like this would be a godsend to him and could result in millions for the club in sponsorship and investment I for one would be happy to miss the odd game for long term stability

Israel is hardly europe either and London certainly isn't the home of the NFL but regular season game is played each year there

Well if this were to happen, if CFC did go tto the U.S. for a game or two, I think UEFA could foot the bill? Why should we promote their corrupt competition for them? pea

UEFA set the precedent of us being allowed to play in author country when we had to play rapid"cheating diving barstewards" Vienna at old Trafford.gona be something that suits everyone at UEFA and on our board, more likely old trafford but the aviva was packed for the Liverpool game, can't see it being anywhere else bar those two. {Ed007's Note - The only worry myself, and probably Greater Manchester Police, would have about playing at OT is that our fans would be infiltrated by Chelsea supporters intent on causing trouble. We have to remember that in 2008 all of a sudden every single Rangers supporter who spoke with an English accent was actually a Chelsea fan in 'disguise'.
They estimated that 250,000 Rangers fans descended on Manchester but when the dust settled and they worked it out it seems that Rangers only had 37,500 fans, the other 212,500 were (English accented) Chelsea supporters only there to cause trouble.
At least it helps dispel the myth about how many Rangers fans there actually used to be.
That shows that Chelsea were better represented in Manchester 2008 than both of the finalists combined, with more numbers than Chelsea have ever had at ANY of their own games and over 10 times the amount of England fans who travelled to South Africa for the last World Cup.
With figures like that they will soon be pushing Man Utd as the most followed club in the world (659 million).
I've often wondered (and had the question blanked/avoided) if the fans who travel up from England to watch The Rangers/Sevco/Newclub are still labelled 'infiltrating Chelsea' fans by their fellow fans and their new club?}
