I am trying to be honest and objective about firstly, last night's game and our 2 games played so far.
Last night we played against an underperforming Barcelona team who were still miles better than us. Our possession (when we go it) was woeful with too many unforced errors. We kept putting ourselves under pressure by giving them the ball back in dangerous areas.
Sammy and Stokes were both guilty of this on several occasions. On Stokes the chance he got when he was through on goal but did not have the pace to get clear, was that not why Pukki was bought for his pace, I think at least he would have outstripped the Barca defenders and got a shot away.
Not going to talk much about Brown, he was stupid and gave ref a decision to make, but if he had gone to ref right away, instead of hiding behind team mates, it might have only been yellow as it gave the Barca players time to surround ref.
Sadly that is two games we have played against teams with star players missing and not taken advantage. Forrest with his shot was unlucky but Mulgrew missed a sitter.
Our only tiny hope is Ajax only drew with Milan, so we must target the next 2 games and at least try for third place as sadly, I think that is what we are now playing for. Timalloy

If we take 4 points from Ajax and Barca beat AC home and away we go joint second in league. Second place is still very much up for grabs. On the Sammy one, I thought Sammy was terrific tonight, one of his best games in a Celtic shirt. He lost the ball only when he had no one to pass to and was holding the play up. Also if you notice when he did lose it, it took 2 or 3 Barca players to get it off him. I thought he apart from Iniesta, he was the best player on the park.
One other note, and maybe it was just me, so if it was I appologize.
But the atmosphere was a little different last night, good but not electric like usual. Even singing YNWA felt like we were going through the motions, but as I said, maybe it was just me.
On the YNWA thing, I really wish the club only played it at the start and not when the teams run out for second half. I think it dilutes the importance of it a bit.

Maybe due to repetitive champions league games? Oh Barca again, AC Milan again oh greeeeeeatt. yawn.
It's not so special anymore? pea

Champions league games will always be special to me, maybe a different variety of teams would be nice but watching barca, Milan and Ajax certainly excites me.
Think Sammi was brilliant, when he got going he was found isolated because commons and stokes didn't have the pace to keep up with him, that's why prefer him out wide there always somebody ahead of him.
A well we'll just need to scud Ajax home and away lol

I think we believe the press and the bluenoses a wee bit too much when they talk about our opposition. Milan were missing several players but the players that did play were all international players bought for small fortunes and every player on their bench would probably have got in our starting line up. Then Barca are missing Messi but look at who played, young boys all over the world have these names on their shirts. Really don't get how you can say underperforming when they've also had their best start ever to a season. Maybe we should look a little more at what our players do to pressure these teams be that in an attacking sense like the Milan game or keeping compact like last night. I always believed that the next 3 games would be where any points we gained were most likely to come and I think Barca will take 6 points off AC. 7 points from our next 3 games is definitely not impossible with a bit of luck maybe even 9. Keep the faith
