Looks like Siegrist is going to sign. What's everyone's thoughts on that one then? From his analytics looks like a good shot stopper but bad with his feet. Wonder if Bain will leave then? Any info ED?

{Ed007's Note - I really can't understand us signing Siegrist unless a) Bain is leaving or b) Tobi Oluwayemi is leaving either on loan or permanently - which would be a major mistake.
Hart is going to be No.1 and again I can't understand Siegrist being happy to sit on the bench, if we were planning on signing Siegrist why did we give Bain a new deal?
I picked up on a snippet last week that Fleetwood Town were looking for a new 'keeper, so could Scott Brown make a move for Bain?}

Bain is average at best, Seigrist will provide cover as we will have a heavy schedule. Tried and tested and free, no brainer for me.

{Ed007's Note - So why give Bain a new contract in January if we knew Siegrist was available on a free 6 months later? We've just got rid of one GK who was stuck in limbo and Barkas still has to return next summer. If Siegrist is going to No.2 we're paying Bain for sitting in limbo and pushing one of the best young 'keepers in the UK down the pecking order.
I'm not question signing a player of Siegrist quality, Chinks, I'm pointing out the problems it causes the squad as it stands and if we knew we were going to bring in a GK why did we extend Bain's contract 6 months ago?}

In case we didn’t get Seigrest?
Was this not the case with Fraser Foster - we sold Gordon in the basis FF was going to sign and he changed his mind?

{Ed007's Note - Bain had 6 months left on his contract and signed the new 2 year deal in January so the talks would have started November/December, if Celtic knew in January they were bring a new GK in this summer be it Siegrist or A.N. Other then why give Bain a new 2 year deal in January? That's just poor planning and organisation.
Bain could be sitting there for 2 years on £8k - £10k a week with no chance of kicking a ball for us unless there is a major injury crisis.
Signing Seigrist while Bain is still here also pushes Tobi further down the pecking order so imo if Seigrist does sign we need to either lose Bain or Tobi from the squad and if it's Tobi hopefully it's only on loan because he will have caught plenty of scouts eyes playing for Engalnd recently.}

Maybe the bain neww deal Wass to shock seigrist into deciding one way or another. So Celtic can say we aren't desperate for another GK here is the wages we are willing to offer. Just my opinion though.

Ed is young Tobi I that good. I haven't seen much of him to be fair but is really a goo keeper. Or do you think he might go out on loan to get first team appearance s.

{Ed007's Note - Everybody - and Paul puts them all to shame - raves about him mate.}

Is Tobi good enough? . Played at every level with England youth system. Spurs were gutted that young Tobi left at the age of 16. A great young talented modern goalkeeper. Excellent distribution with his feet, handling and shot stopping is Excellent. A raw talent when Celtic snapped him up and his stats now at the age of 19 are vastly improving every year. Last season Ange said Tobi has being brought up to first team squad to learn from Hart and Steve Woods. Hart said Tobi is the best young keeper he seen ina long time. Ange said Tobi is going to be a top keeper. So we have a top young keeper who I believe will be our no1 in time but what will happen to Tobi if we sign Seagrist. I know he will be playing for Colts but his development with the first squad might be jeopardise if he won't be ard the squad to train with Hart and woods. Many clubs in championship and premier league are watching him. Spurs still feel hurt by his departure have watched last season and hope his old brother Joshua who's their U-21s keeper might persuade him back to the club. Tobi recently called up to England u19s and U21 squad aswel will be in the shop window for clubs down south . I really hope Ange and Celtic have a plan for Tobi and have already sat him down and explained why we are signing Seagrist because if we lose him and I stand by this comment . He will be the biggest Youngster to leave Celtic because of our failure to promote him up the ranks. And don't give me this crap he might not be good enough. He is better than barkas, Bain and Hazzard. In a another year or two better than Hart and Seagrist. That's how highly I rate him. I've been watching his development since he joined us and I was a goalkeeper myself for years.

It's amazing how a potential signing gets some people's backs up!

Let's see what happens and make a judgement then on what, who maybe etc.

Some fans can't say in the 1 hand in "Ange we trust" then get all hot and bothered over a potential signing especially if we agree that Ange approves signings. or does he?

Football clubs plans will change all the time. I would assume perhaps giving Bain new contract was right at the time and could now potentially get a transfer fee for him if he is being sold.

Everybody needs to calm down, go for a walk etc then see what happens or doesn't.

Hail Hail ?.

100% Ed, I posted the same rationale a week or so ago.

We don't need 4 GK's therefore something has got to give and personally, I can only see that being Scott Bain.

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - From what Joonas and Mikey have said Bain is a bit of a home bird for Dundee so would he fancy a move to England where - let's face it - is the only chance of a getting a fee or it'll be a loan if it's Scotland.
I'm happy if we sign Siegrist as our No.2 but you've got to question the imbalance it brings in the squad and the decision to extend Brain's contract in January there.}

Siegrist is a cracking no.2 it'll be a fantastic signing.

Did Ange approve new contract for Bain?
If so, was this a hugely bad mistake?
Has he upset anyone in squad if there is an imbalance?

As I said in previous post things change all the time at football clubs and business in general.

We either trust and believe 100% in Ange our manager or we don't.

Am I being too simplistic?

Hail Hail ?.

Ange has said Bain is a real positive in the dressing room, can't imagine he commands too much in terms of wages and he helps towards the home grown quota for champions league squads.

Most top clubs have 2 top keepers, bain should be sold and young tobi given a years loan, sigriest could play in cups and obviously god forbid Joe gets injured, I think it's a good signing, can here the dissent if Joe did get injured and bain has a mare.

Bains probably on 8k a week roughly and can’t see him getting that anywhere else.

He’d have to go down south. Tobi should be loaned out and brought into be No1 next year.

Fans discuss all the rumours, but as we all know, practically none of them in relative terms are ever real targets, or arrive. Ange has shown he can see a player. I just hope he doesn’t waste time on guys who like being linked but have no intention of ever coming. I hate this time of year as it’s like everybody and their uncle is mentioned. Even with CL qualification Scotland is a hard sell and as soon as you hear a club from a better league is in for a player you know for that player it’s over. Ange talked about Iran and he knows the Japanese market so go back there. Great players and not as expensive. I also think Inegucchi should be given a chance too. He is an excellent player.
