Bitton away at end of season?

{Ed007's Note - I've been saying for a while that I could see that happening, Kev. It;s a bit of a stick or twist for Celtic with him going into the last year of his deal - do we still only offer over 30s a years extension? - and will Bitton himself be happy with that at his age and only being a bit part player?
He had the chance to return to Israel last summer but decided to stay, maybe now is the ideal time for him and his family to return home and start playing every week.}

You'll struggle to find a more selfless player and that's why his team mates have so much love and respect for him. He's so often forced to be a square peg in a round hole and it gets him stick from the fans but he's the ultimate team player. All that being said, I think we probably could improve on him in the summer window.

Free he will walk out Celtic a millionaire. He didn't do it for nothing. Would you let Calmac leave for nothing. Would be looking for 1/ 2 million for him.

He could always just sit and see out his contract and get around a million in wages for doing nothing then leave on a free next summer along with the loyalty bonus for seeing out his contract.
Probably when you work out the finances of all the options it'll be a few hundred thousand £ of a difference if we got £1 million for him.}

You have to give a player what he's owed In a contract. That can't be right, so we had to give Tierney 4yrs money and they walk into a multi million pound contract.

A loyalty bonus for running down their contracts. Jesus some gig they are on.

{Ed007's Note - These days players have a loyalty bonus tied to the end of their contract - remember Henrik and the board pulled a flanker with his? Transfers are not as black and white as a lot fans think and that's why sometimes it's easier just to do a deal for them to leave for free.
It would cost Celtic well over £1 million if Bitton decided to stay and leave on a free next year - and to be honest I don't think he is part of even Ange's short term plans. We have Gucci to play in there and it looks like Bosun Lawal will be promoted to the first team squad for next season.
I don't know if Celtic will be looking for a fee for Bitton, all I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't.}

That's big news to me Ed. You'd think if a player agrees to the move then they shouldn't really be entitled to any remaining wages as they're essentially an equal partner in ending the contract.

{Ed007's Note - If you hand in your notice you're still entitled to lie time, holidays due and contracted bonuses etc If you get paid off you're due redundancy, holidays etc etc That's maybe the best way to look at it.... Feck knows lol
