Seen the report on lennons transfer targets in the daily rag today, saber khelifa and the lad rudnev (spelling) looking at both stats rudnev scored 14 goals in the bundesliga last season and saber khelifa scored 13 in 23 games watched both players on you tube and both fit the bill I think khelifa is a wee bit more technical but both would be a great addition to our strike force and should be affordable with the money we have generated!

Do not know much about the Tunisian player, but in the past players from hot climates like this do not handle our Scottish weather to good, cannot see him on a wet November night wanting to leave comfort of dugout, no go in my book, bring in Rudneyv. Have said already - Evian offer a number of players who would add to our squad. We were linked to the other striker (Sagbo) but it seems he is going to Hull. Suspect khelifa might offer a few more goals - sagbo perhaps a wee bit more like Marc-antoine fortune. With lassad, miku and hooper all away, I feel 2 strikers are still needed - but think lawwell will not want to pay the price for rudnevs. Jean-pierre Laguerre

Lennon spoke about a prolific striker. this guy has 16 goals in 54 games from what I can see. I don't think the quality of defending in the french league is that great to thing he will score goals for fun here.

From speaking to a Hamburg fan today, he would be sorry to see Rudnevs go as he feels he is a really good technical goalscorer with a good work ethic. Sign him up PL!

Yeah but how many goals have these players scored in the champions league group stages? Because that's precisely what we need.
Sometimes I think PL is far too careful and doesn't believe we are capable of taking it to last 8.
WE NEED A STRIKER WHO HAS CL GROUP STAGES GOALS OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS, against that quality of opposition.
Nobody can argue with this because its the level we're competing at and this is the level of quality we need to turn out if we have any ambition.

This is the fourth evian player we've been linked to since nl was spotted at the french cup final, are the press going to go through the whole team? the guy doesn't look prolific but different sites state he also plays lw/ l mid maybe that's why his stats aren't great, have never seen or until know heard of him so it would be a fingers crossed and hope for the best if he signs, rudvens isn't exactly prolific either apart from one season in poland but looks a good player similar to hooper but is he worth 5 mill?, would be good enough for spl mind you . deep river bhoy

We can't afford a proven cl goal score! We need to find our next star forward like we always do! The Latvian sound like a good target but if not surely there is un heralded strikers who will step up. Maybe balde but for all we know he's just another bangura for now

Personally would love to finally see Rudnevs here, but I fear Celtic will not stump up what is required. Surely we are entitled to one slightly more expensive signing, the last 3.5m plus player was Efrain Juarez 3 years ago. Come on Peter, you have already made a lot of money.

To the nameless post about the amount of goals these guys have scored in CL, FFS. If they had scored a decent amount of goals in the CL we wouldn't even be in the running for this type of player, we cannot and will not be able to compete at that end of the market, The End:
Deep River Bhoy. Your right, the media will run through players until eventually and coincidentally we sign a player that they mentioned, we need to remember what we're up against in the SPFL, dross! Wills the board spend decent money on a proven striker and take the risk that he might not fit in or take the cheap option in case he doesn't fit in (and win if he does)
Not sure how accurate reports are, but Rudnevs is the one for me, doubt it'll happen and would aplaud the board if they pulled it off, like I said if he was prolific in the bundesliga we couldn't even consider a "Marque" loan

We don't need proven CL strikers. We done well last season without a proven CL striker. What we need is striker(s) who can score 20+ goals in the League first, good form in the Leagie would in turn lead to confidence and possibly more goals in the Cup competitions.

Guys thanks for all the feedback to my original post, I for one am a little disappointed at the lack of activity .why would you come out in the media and say we are looking to bring in two players before Thursday deadline . and then all we hear about is hooper leaving for qpr . We are in a very comfortable situation financially and to progress into the group stages we are going to have to bring at least three more players that can hit the ground running .

SOS Boy and the rest, if we don't need CL quality strikers then we accept mediocrity with the occasional lucky advancement in Europe. Not showing much ambition to be honest. I hope u all come back on here should the worst case scenario unfold and we have just the league to focus on from next month!

Well tell us all the cl striker that we could sign? Players such as podolski and reus scored 4 cl goals last year I'd just like to know what cl goalscorers u want?
