Bit gutted big vic is staying, if him and Hooper left I feel we would have had a very exciting transfer wondow, with our European run we could have attracted a few decent names, it said in the sun that boy tonev would rather come to us than seire a sides, but having Vic for one more season could be good to, as long as he can keep up his champions league form

How can you be gutted, be grateful for one of the best players we've had in recent years is willing to stay.

It's a boost to hold on to your best players and I also think it's easier to replace a striker like Hooper than a versatile power house like Wanyama so I'm glad he's staying.
No doubt there will be others leaving who will give us an opportunity to strengthen and there must be a wish-list already brought to the Board's attention for next season with that in mind.

Totally agree I think he should stay until Jan and then see how he feels about staying/leaving. this just shows how big a club we are if not even interest from the epl is turning his head so well done big man and I hope other players take note of this. wee darren

The way I see it is if he helps us get another run in the champions league then that will get us more than any transfer offer we would get. Antony

Big Vic staying is fantastic news. he is going to be something else. make Flo transfer look average the way he is progressing. shows that our Euro run has changed the views of many. might get some more wee gems into the squad. I hope Hooper stays also. I know he has not produced for a while. but silverware is an addictive thing. KTF HH

I think what Darrenbhoy is trying to say is if we got 15million for him we could buy a few quality player that we are lacking in a few positions with that money! He has been one if not thee best player for us this season so I am happy if he stays but if he were to go and we got good money for him we could not just replace him but buy a good few player for that money! Teams like Porto do it all the time buy cheap young player and sell them on for a massive profit and rebuild the team with that money!

Wanyama is saying the right thing's just now to please celtic fan's but if your telling me that if a big team in england germany or spain come in for him and offer him big wages that he is not going to go then you are off your rocker. these type of players have no interest in loyalty they look after number one and I dpn't blame them. 3 players will leave celtic in the summer at least wanyama ledley and hooper and possibly even forster. sorry but truth hurts.

Just because he has declared his wish to stay does not mean that he will be here at the start of next season, yes he is under contract for two years but if he does not sign an extension and the right offer is made he will be sold. The board will surely not allow the value our hottest property to be devalued by a simple desire to stay for another year

Last 2 posters are correct. If he's so keen on staying and appreciates the platform Celtic have given him then sign a new contract on a better wage.
This, wanting to stay for another year reduces his value. Come Jan '15 he can sign a pre contract.
Look what happened to Gary this yr, head turned, couple of poor games against Juve, can we all say his stock is as high as in Jan? That said, love it of he stayed.
Vic's giving the right soundbites but actions speak louder than words as they say - sign a new contract, give us an insurance policy of big bucks transfer and stay for a season or 2. Stevo Dundee

Need to get your head out the clouds, when we have world class players at our club we should enjoy it while we have them rather than wishing them away. For every good player we pull in we could easily pull in a miku so enjoy the good ones while they are here. Tomev may be the next big thing, but he could also be another Erik huseklep who was getting chased by serie a clubs and now appears to be nothing more than a journeyman.

There is an expression, 'strike while the iron is hot'. All sorts of teams were linked with big money moves for Emelio but he got a bad injury now no one would give more that £1.5m for him. I think Celtic can't afford not to sell Wanyama if they could get £10m+. We do not have EPL money from TV, sponsorship etc and, like it or not, we need to be realistic. Remember the majority of the current squad were brought in on the money generated from McGeady.
