James McCarthy has left the club.
Celtic and James came to a financial agreement on the last year of his contract.

Good news. Shame it didn't work out for him but this is the best move for both us and him.
Realistically he was never even a back up on the bench, so neither him nor us were benefitting.

Never understood how he never made it - especially at domestic level although I appreciate he had previous injury and fitness issues, but we never got to see much of him at all. Unfortunate period of his career for all concerned.

Dc7591, it was rumoured his wage demands were such Celtic felt that if it was spread over 4 yrs and not 3, then if it didn’t work out another team might match the smaller 4 year wage and take him away.

Ter161 I don’t think the words “good decision”’ shouid ever be in a sentence, when discussing James. Who by the way is completely blameless in this whole rubbishshow. He didn’t sign himself, or set his wages. He is a working man with a family, and a lifelong Tim, why would he ever turn us down. Good money, hoping he can put in a show. Sadly didn’t happen. He’s away and that’s best for both, but we need to stop vanity buying by the Tash. He treats us like his feckin favourite toy. Anyway all the best James.

I wouldn't have given a 3 year deal either des. 1 year with an option of a further year would have been the most. I said this at the time. If his wages were high tell him to do one.
